CHAPTER 63(A Day In The Capital)

CHAPTER START---

Sitting in the calming water of the private luxury hot springs, Karin sinks down to her chin as she lets all her worries wash away.

Resting opposite her is Ino, not naked like Karen but instead wearing a black t-shirt.

"How much did this cost you anyway?" Ino asks, genuinely curious how much renting a luxury hot springs ran the redhead.

"No me, Jin, he pays for everything really," Karins gives her a small smile.

"Wait, a penthouse in Konoha is one thing, but in the capital is a completely different story, and all our stuff and this shopping trip. That's not adding up..."

"He's good with money business, that's all," Karins rises out of the water a bit, exposing her small chest as she leans against the stone edge of the bath.

"How'd you two even meet anyway, was he looking for his clansmen?"

"It was by chance actually, my village was raided and he saved me, I wanted revenge and he convinced me to help him instead, now he treats me better than anyone ever has... like his little sister."

"That's... a lot sweeter than I expected honestly," Ino admits quietly.

"What about you, how'd you end up dating my brother? And he never mentioned how modest you are, I'm flatter than you so no need to be shy," Karin eyes Ino's top.

"It's not like that, just feeling a bit embarrassed is all, but I've known him since the academy honestly. Believe it or not, I used to have the biggest crush on Sasuke," she confesses with clear embarrassment.

"HA! The guy Jin beat up yesterday, why even?"

"Ugh don't remind me," She sinks a bit deeper into the water," he was from the top clan and was a prodigy, then out of nowhere on the first day Jin starts showing him and everyone else up, and it never really stopped. Sasuke saw Jin like a rival or something, but Jin always brushed him off, because he was just that far ahead. It really got on our nerves, me and the other girls that is."

"What changed, he charmed you and swept you off your feet?" Karin asks with clear sarcasm, she never knew him to be any kind of charming romantically.

"No, just... well, it was a lot of stuff really, we spent more time together because our senseis were dating."

"Oooh."

"Yeah, and then when we started having big team dinners together I realized that if I just shut my mouth about Sasuke he wasn't an ass to me, so I did. Then when we started training I realized that, I was a fangirl for the wrong guy. He was just so far ahead, he was beating people like our sensei, we were all teaming up on him for training and still never won, eventually, indifference turned to admiration and became something more."

"But how'd you sweep him off his feet?"

"I stopped acting like a fangirl, I started focusing more on myself a lot, then when he left to train, when he went on his adventure and met you, I worked my ass off to show him that I wasn't a fangirl. That I was my own person that could handle myself and didn't rely on people to fight for me... and finally, he recognized me. Then we had dinner and caught up, and somewhere along the line we fell into, this," she finishes with a shrug.

"That's cute, you just became friends then just ended up dating naturally."

"Yeah, now we just need to deal with these Akatsuki assholes..."

"Yeah, Jin wants them gone too, he doesn't like fighting..."

"What?"

"Oh, sorry I just figured since, you know, you're his girlfriend and all."

"No, I always just assumed he became a ninja because he's talented and aimed to be Hokage or the strongest shinobi."

"Nah, if he wanted that he could do it pretty easily I think, but he just wants a peaceful life, he doesn't want to fight. He's good at fighting so he can end the fight."

"What about you, I saw your medical Jutsu, you're better than me, where'd you train?"

"Oh, I trained from books and scrolls he got me really, he doesn't want me joining any of the hidden villages because of my abilities, they make me highly desired, so I just have my own lab in the penthouse where I practice on my own."

"Huh, he doesn't want you joining any village, guess he doesn't fully trust the leaf with his dear sister," Ino raises a brow at the point.

"Well, it's not that he doesn't trust them, but keeping me out of the spotlight is safer, that's all," Karin waves her hands as she frantically defends her brother.

" I guess that makes sense," looking up at the open roof, Ino sees the stars beginning to appear in the sky, "guess he really can be a family man huh, let's get ready to head back, it's getting late."

"Sounds like you're just in the mood to see him..."

---Meanwhile At The Penthouse...

Jin and Shikamaru sat on one of the couches in the large living room as Master Fukasaku sits on the table. Each with a cup of tea in their hands.

"When I saw we had a guest for our weekly tea, this isn't what I expected boy..."

"Sorry Pa but this was kinda important, figured I'd have you here to help explain things," Jin shrugs as he moves to sip his tea.

"So all this time, those were there," Shikamaru looks up from his cup into Jin's Rinnegan.

"Yup, and someone else in the world has them, and I need to stop him, that's basically why I can't use them too openly. I don't know how strong he is so I need to be careful."

"And what can they do?" Shikamaru asks.

"Lots of stuff, but I mostly use the chakra enhanced limbs," he transforms his hand and allows it to extend with Asura path," and chakra absorption, I can also push and pull things from my location, the other stuff isn't necessary to explain right now..."

"This is, a lot to take in... does Ino know?"

"NO. And it WILL stay like that, I'm only telling you because you'll likely need this info to command battles with me as a piece on the board, but I can't let people know. Information extraction is part of what I can do and there's no resisting it, don't tell her I said this, but any of the Akatsuki could kill her without much effort, as much as I trust her telling her would be a liability."

"Karin?"

"Of course, she helps me track down potential Rinnegan users when I'm busy."

"So that's why she lives here and not in the village then, that makes sense."

"Jin here is quite powerful, the most outright powerful shinobi I've ever met, at least when all his abilities can be used with no restriction in tandem with sage mode, if he's cautious I trust the decision completely." Pa chimes in.

"Thanks, Pa."

"And unlike my other student he summons us for more than just fighting, which is always nice," the old toad smiles at them.

"Yeah well it feels good being around people I don't need to hide my Rinnegan from, feels freeing really," he takes a deep breath, as if a weight lifts off his chest.

"Does anyone know what all your abilities can do?" Shikamaru asks.

"Absolutely not, we can't know if all Rinnegan share the same traits so the risk is too much if anyone knows them, even I only know one more than you do currently," Pa quickly speaks up.

"Hmm, that makes sense, better safe than sorry with something that powerful."

"WE'RE BACK!" Karin and Ino yell in tandem as they enter the room.

"There goes the peace and quiet, I best go before Ma yells at me for missing dinner, take care of yourself my boy," in a small cloud of smoke Pa disappears from the table.

"Well, anything else you wanna say to flip my world before they get here?" Shikamaru says, partly joking but not putting it too far beyond Jin.

"Nah, I'll wait for Ino to get in the room first, way more fun."

"Should I be worried?"

He only received a smug smile in return, a cold shiver went down his spine.

As the girls enter the room carrying dozens of shopping bags Jin raises a brow seeing Ino's top. A full turtleneck, something's off.

With no hesitation, she drops her bags and sits across his lap.

"What's got you so happy blonde?"

"That shopping trip you sponsored..." she coos while resting her head on his shoulder.

Shooting a knowing look to Karin he wraps an arm around her waist," huh, so apparently I did that, I'm a pretty nice guy."

"Ino's pretty cool, didn't know you could attract girls that weren't trying to kill you at first sight," Karin jokes.

"Very funny, how about you guys stop teasing me and get on Shikamaru's case instead."

"Uh, where are you going with this?" Shikamaru asked with a bit of fear, Ino whips her head up to look at him.

"Well, a certain Kazekage told me that Suna's top blonde is waiting for you to ask her out, guess me asking Gaara to assign her to the leaf more worked out huh," Jin says with a cocky smile.

"THAT WAS YOU! Do you realize how much work I had to do?"

"But you got the girl, you're welcome," Jin says with a satisfied look.

"Temari, ooo, how long have you two been dancing around it Shika!" Ino excitedly asks, only earning a groan from her friend.

"Ugh, I'm going to bed, we've gotta leave early tomorrow," Shikamaru abruptly rises to his feet and walks to the guest room, but nobody missed the blush on his face.

"YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM ME FOREVER!" Ino yells as he walks away.

"Gaara said Temari's been missing working in Konoha for the exams, figured it was because of our shadow user and Kankuro sent me a letter a few weeks ago," Jin reveals as he pulls Ino in a bit closer.

"Well as much as I'd like to watch you two make me a niece or nephew, I'm gonna go before I throw up," Karin gives them an uneasy look before walking off.

"You're a doctor remember," Ino calls out.

"It's gross cuz he's my brother!" the girl yells back before entering her lab.

"Let's get to bed, Shikamaru had a point, we've got an early day tomorrow," Jin casually lifts her up as he walks her over to his room.

As he lays her on the large bed, they both get ready for a fun night, stripping away his clothes he stands in only his boxers as he sees her under the cover with her top still on.

"Ok, what's wrong?" he asks, tired of being left in the dark.

"Nothing's wrong," she takes off the bedside lamp, making the room pitch dark, something they don't normally do.

"Uh-huh," he puts the lamp back on," you're making the room black and you're hiding something from me, what's wrong Ino?" He gets under the covers with her.

"I just, I don't feel comfortable with my small chest ok..." her voice cracked, she couldn't even lie properly to him.

"Any other terrible lie you wanna tell me?"

"Can we please drop it?"

"We could if I wasn't so worried, but if you want I'll ignore it, for now..."

With a deep breath, Ino sits up in bed leaving him laying down. With her back to him, she takes off her top. As the cloth rolls over her perfect creamy skin, two scars are revealed on her back, the same spots he used the rods to transfer chakra to her.

"Ino," his voice was soft, unsure of what to say.

She immediately lays back down, hiding her scarred back from him.

"I'm sorry you had to see that," she was almost crying.

"No, I'm sorry I didn't think about that, it didn't even occur to me when I did that," he wraps her in a tight hug," but you don't need to hide it, ever shinobi has scars, and yours means Asuma survived, YOU saved him, be proud of them Ino."

"B-but, I... I was beautiful, you used to call me beautiful," she wrapped her arms tightly around him as small tears began to flow down her face.

"You're even more beautiful now, I saw you save him. How could I not think even more of you, you're my princess remember," a soft kiss is delivered to the top of her head.

"Still your princess?" her voice was more confident, but still unsure.

"Always my princess, Ino Yamanaka, I love you," his voice was low, a whisper that felt like a scream to her aching heart.

Immediately she sat up in bed, wide eyes staring at him.

"Y-you..."

"I love you Ino," he gives her a soft smile.

"I love you too!" she yells out while taking his lips with her own.
