CHAPTER START---

Leaning against the trunk of a large tree, Jin can be seen glaring hatefully at the large scroll usually kept on his back. The open scroll was now on his lap as he studied its contents.

"Never thought you'd be this bad at seals kid," Pa says, the small toad laying on a pillow at Jin's side, eyes closed and holding a bowl of crickets on his stomach.

"Ugh, seals aren't my thing, besides you wouldn't understand seeing that the last two people you taught were both seal masters, I'm not Jiraiya and definitely no fourth Hokage you know," Jin says.

"Yeah well it's been half a year and you still can't get the advanced seals down still, you been slacking?" the toad questions.

"No, I've been busy, besides I work way better when the chakra is already in motion for me to analyze. At least I have those trap seals down right."

"Eh, it's a start. Using senjutsu to set a shadow clone Jutsu to activate nearby when the seal triggers. You're a paranoid kid" the toad says.

"Yeah, I am. I'm a ninja, it comes with the job." Jin flatly replies.

"You know, most ninja only use the summoning jutsu when they need something, you're the first I've seen use it to spend time with a summoning."

"Yeah well, I have to hide my skills from everyone, feel good to have you and Ma around so I can talk without being so cautious," Jin responds, leaning his head against the tree for a moment.

A pregnable silence befell both the sages as Jin took a moment to relax, after almost a minute Pa broke the silence.

"What's eating you kid?" Pa finally asks, leaping onto Jin's lap to get his full attention.

"I... I'm gonna take a trip, to the land of origins." Jin quietly says.

"That... that's dangerous, you should be fine but I can't imagine how that's worth it."

"Well, it's to the west of the land of Iron, uncharted so nobody is out there. That'll let me train a lot, and it's got a lot of chakra beasts, that's what I want really."

"You... you plan to use your strange summoning enhancement jutsu on them?" Pa asks.

"Yeah," Jin says, his voice barely a whisper.

"Hmmm, you know Ma and I don't approve of that, life should be respected. But I suppose if it's only NON SENTIENT creatures that's fine. Is that what you summoned me to ask?"

"Hmmm, well there is one more thing, in the future, I might come into conflict with Jiraiya"

As his words rung out, a shocked expression came across Pa's face.

"NOTHING VIOLENT I SWEAR!" Jin immediately shot up as he clarified.

"Hmm, then what do you mean?" Pa questions.

"Well, Jiraiya has a soft spot for Naruto, and Naruto won't give up on Sasuke. And Sasuke is gonna do a lot of damage if I don't deal with him, see the problem?" Jin says.

"Hmmm, yeah. If you feel it's your duty to deal with Sasuke then I can't stop you. But if Naruto feels it's his duty to save Sasuke and Jiraiya supports him, I suppose I simply won't intervene, none of the toads of Mt.Myoboku will" Pa says, his voice low as he realizes what's likely to happen.

"I promise if I can avoid it I will, but the world is at stake, you've seen all the good this last year has brought under my influence, I can't jeopardize that," Jin says, his tone truly apologetic for any conflict he may cause in his relationship with the toads.

As another awkward silence fell over the sages, Jin suddenly jolted in his seat. Taking a look at the sun as it begins to set on the horizon he suddenly begins to get up.

"Something wrong?" Pa asks.

"Mmm, not really, just something I've got to do, I'll call you again to hang out when I've got time Pa, see ya," He says before running deeper into the land of grass.

"You're too young to be carrying that much weight on your shoulder kid," sage Fukasaku mutters to himself before disappearing in a puff of smoke.

Later that night, Jin remained crouch in the canopy of the treeline, the darkness and leaves hiding him while he suppresses his chakra to avoid being sensed. A few hundred meters away a village burns to the ground.

The flames illuminating the night as innocent people alongside shinobi are slaughtered, he remains unmoving, caring for every soul lost. Knowing he has the power to easily stop this conflict, but still he stays his hand, for the greater good.

As the raiders are quickly retreating from the cinders of their victims, Jin finally makes his move. Rushing through the village he looks around, hunting every surviving chakra signature he can.

Keeping his transparency jutsu active, he happens upon a young man, barely twenty. With no hesitation, he immediately impales the man with a kunai before moving on.

Finding a few more survivors, he deals with them one after the other, until he finds his target. Sitting on the floor, holding her shoulder and she slowly bleeds, Karin Uzumaki focuses on healing herself as she hides her chakra.

"Hmm, someone actually survived huh" his friendly voice calls out before he releases his jutsu for her to see him.

"P-p-please..." The girl whimpers, clutching a kunai in her hand to feebly defend herself.

"Relax, I just happen to be passing through and saw the fire, looks like they ran east." he nonchalantly says while crouching to her eye level.

"I---" her words are immediately cut off.

"Save your strength and focus on healing, we should go before less friendly people pass by when they see the fire"

"You, you're a leaf ninja, and you aren't gonna kill me?"

"Why would I kill you, you're just a girl who got hurt protecting her people, you did nothing wrong. Now focus on healing."

"Uh...thank you," Karin says, still holding her kunai warily.

Seeing the girl holding the weapon, a small smile appears on Jin's face, reaching into his pouch he quickly passes her a book.

"Page 52," he says while taking a seat beside her.

"Uh, ok," she says, clearly nervous while opening the book, "ACH!" she chokes in surprise as she stares at the page.

"60 Million bounty!" she shrieks in surprise

"Yeah, can you move?" He abruptly asks.

"Uh, yeah..." She says, extremely wary of the boy sitting beside her.

"Want revenge on the people who did this?"

"I-YES!" Karin suddenly yells out, her fear apparently washing away as rage dominates her spirit.

"Then try to keep up," Jin says while making his way to the treeline.

Almost 3 hours of running through the trees later, Jin and Karin arrive at a small settlement, successfully tracking the raiders to their little village.

"There they are, well, still want to kill them all?" Jin asks.

"Of course, they destroyed my home" Karin replies, determination in her eyes.

"Mhm, they did. Did you see what they stole?" Jin calmly questions.

"Uh-why does that matter, they had no reason to attack us" Karin argues, her tone harsh but volume still low.

"Let's get closer, get on my back" Jin commands, seeing her hesitate he decides to be more stern, "NOW!".

Quickly getting on his back, in an instant, they appear on one of the watchtowers around the settlement.

"Look around you now, look to the left, what do you see?" Jin questions as he sets her down, both parties crouching to hide behind the guard of the wooden tower.

"Those are the boxes they stole from us, they're hoarding the loot in that building," Karin says as she looks at the men moving the crates.

"Food, and to the right"

"Uh, they're celebrating killing my family, around a campfire, their animals, can't you....just....please kill already," she begs, her voice shaking as she sees ninja and civilians alike gathering around a bonfire.

"Even the babies?" Jin questions abruptly.

"..." There is no response.

"I won't stop you, but you need to kill the kids too, or else they grow up and look for you and hate you, you must be thorough." He says in a cold voice.

"I..." She hesitates, slowly sitting on the floor of the tower, leaning against the wooden guardrail.

"Didn't think that far, I noticed, you want revenge for the people who attacked your village because of how hungry their children were, but you don't want to have mercy on those children and kill them before starvation does. I told you I won't stop you, go get your revenge" Jin taunts.

"That's, that's not what---"

"Were you going to just leave them alone in the forest to starve then, what was your plan going to accomplish?" He questions the girl once more, questions far too big for her to understand, but questions he needs to ask to get his point across.

"I...they took everything from me, but I... why can't I..."

"Because you have compassion, don't throw it away for vengeance, I have plans to stop things like this from happening if you'd like to join me," Jin says while extending a hand to the young woman.

"I..." she trips over her thought, all her emotions now fighting her rage as she realizes the implications of her previous plan, before slowly taking his hand.

"Let's turn this world around, all for the better, so people don't have to fight anymore," Jin says, his smile genuinely happy, either at the idea of a better world, or his healer is finally on the board.
