CHAPTER START---

At 7 o'clock team Kurenai can be seen entering the mission building once more. With their full ninja gear which for Jin means his cloak and storage strolls they are prepared to undertake their first C-Rank mission.

"what do you guys think the mission will be like?" Jin asked his teammates.

"Bandits most likely," Shino simply replied.

"Yeah," the Hyuga princess agrees with him.

"Some bandits would be good to get some more combat practice in,"

"Maybe at least try not to sound so eager to fight to the death kid, it's a bit unsettling," Kurenai says as she observes their conversation.

As Kurenai walks to the desk and receives a mission scroll she signals her team to follow her and go to the Hokage's office nearby.

As they enter the office, for the first time Jin meets the Hokage himself, Hiruzen Sarutobi.

"Kurenai, I see your team is progressing rather quickly" the man greets them as he puffs his pipe.

"Yes Lord Hokage, our resident genius is going after Lord Jiraiya's record so we are moving quickly."

"Huh, Jiraiya's record. Why would you chase such a thing?"

"Before I become the Hokage I'd like to contribute as much as I can in the field Lord Hokage" Jin answers quite simply.

"Ohhh, future Hokage. Tell me then, what does the will of fire mean to you?" Hiruzen asked as he narrows his eyes at Jin.

Doing his best to not crumble under the Kages' gaze, Jin does exactly as rehearsed, just for this moment.

"To protect the children of the future and make a better world for them Lord Hokage," Jin answers with a straight face.

"Hahaha ah, well said boy. Keep this one close Kurenai. Now then, your mission shall be to go to the land of rivers, There is a scroll that was transported on a caravan. The caravan leader's name is Chin, this is his information and his request which should have his scent. We expect it to be a simple recovery from bandits at worst, search and rescue at best. Both of which your team should be fine with. Any questions?"

"Are we friendly with the Land of Rivers Lord Hokage?" Jin asked directly.

"If you encounter their shinobi, treat them as hostiles if they attack you of course. There are a few smaller factions of their shinobi that do not approve of the current deal of the Kazekage and myself using their Country as a bridge between ours."

"Understood sir, and how important is the scroll?"

"Not worth your lives, come back alive at all costs. If there are no more questions then you are dismissed"

As team Kurenai occupy a nearby rooftop to iron out the details of their plan their sensei gives them some strange news.

"The ninja at the desk said the Hokage saved this mission for our team specifically. Congratulations Jin, this is your first B-Rank mission," she says with a soft smile.

"What! Oh my god, yes!" Jin cheered happily, the complete opposite of his allies who were a bit apprehensive of being thrown into the deep end like this.

"Prepare your things and meet me at the south gate in a few minutes, this will roughly be at least a 3-week mission."

Rushing off to find Naruto, Jin immediately began scouting for his chakra signature. Not long after leaving he found Naruto still at him and knocked on his door.

Slowly opening the door a fully dressed Naruto came outside with Jin.

"Morning Naruto!" Jin spoke a bit louder than usual, visibly excited by something which confused Naruto.

"You hate mornings, why are you so happy?" He questioned his friend.

"Guess who just got a B-Rank mission hehe" Jin grins smugly at his friend.

"WHAT! We've been sticking pulling weeds all week, that's it I'm gonna talk to gramps about a better mission." The boy says angrily.

"Hey settle down Naruto that's not why I'm here, not to brag just take this" Jin pulls out a black bracelet and hands it to Naruto.

"It's a good luck charm, promise me you'll never take it off," he says as he leaves the bracelet made of rinnegan chakra rod in his hand.

"Alright, I promise!" Naruto happily said.

"Good, now I'm gonna go meet my team, I'll treat you to some ramen when we get back ok, stay safe,"

As Jin and his team gathered at the gates Kurenai began to brief them on the mission.

"Alright, the mission is graded as B-Rank because it's a difficult tracking mission. The difficulty isn't always about fighting but the difficulty to complete the mission. I chose all of you for your capabilities to track and locate targets, this should be no problem for us, let's get going."

Leaping from branch to branch they quickly made their way through the forests heading southwest toward the land of rivers.

---5 Days Later...

Standing on the branches of a tree, team Kurenai has finally made it to their target area.

"Man I miss cars," Jin mutters just under his breath.

"What was that Jin?" Kurenai askes.

"Nothing sensei, shall we start the search."

"Shino, try to find the scent, Jin. Feel around the area for any rats hanging around. Hinata stays on standby to use Byakugan if he finds anyone. I'm going to scout around the area a bit more. Stay together." Kurenai says before disappearing from the tree.

For the next few hours, the genin walked around with Shino constantly releasing and collecting bugs to find the scent of their target.

"I've got it, let's get sensei then we can follow them," Shino suddenly says as he begins commanding more bugs.

"I'll send a clone to get her," Jin says as he makes a clone that sprints off in her direction.

A few minutes later Kurenai follows the clone back to their team before they follow Shino along the path. Leaping from tree to tree and eventually crossing some small rivers. As they arrived at one particularly large river something finally happened.

"People ahead, not much chakra, roughly 500m west of us," Jin suddenly says making everyone freeze for a moment.

"How many?"

"7, moving toward us on the ground," Jin says as he leaps into a tree. His team follows his lead and takes up positions in the branches.

After a few minutes of hiding Jin spoke up once more, "Sensei, 2 of them are coming this way, they feel like genin. The others have turned around and are moving away."

"Think they saw us?"

"No, they aren't running just walking around" Jin replied.

"Alright, let's wait and see what we're dealing with."

Eventually, as team 8 held their spots, two children with headbands signaling they were rogue ninja from the land of rivers. Unsure of what to do the team 8 genin look to their sensei for guidance.

Kurenai directed their attention to the targets with a wave of her hand and held up 3 fingers. With a nod, she began counting down on her fingers.

2...

1...

The instant Kurenai made a fist everyone leaped forward. The jounin kunoichi arrived behind one of the targets and slams a kunai into the back of the neck instantly knocking the ninja out. Her team collapsed on the remaining target and immediately pinned him down with Shino and Jin holding his limbs while Hinata covers his mouth.

"Good work, Jin keep your senses open while we extract information," Kurenai says as she ties up the targets.

"We're looking for this man," Kurenai says as she shows them a picture of Chin and holds it there for them to keep looking.

Seeing this image both the ninja looked startled for a moment before locking eyes with each other. With a grim look, they both said in unison at once "We'll never say".

"It's a shame for things like this to happen to children," Kurenai says as she brings down her kunai to execute the prisoners.

"STOP!" Jin suddenly yells out making the woman freeze. As he approaches her he stands between her and the prisoners to prevent the execution. "We can't just go around killing children sensei, that's wrong. Just please let me talk to them." Jin pleaded.

"Fine but make it quick," Kurenai says as she takes a few steps back.

Turning to the prisoners Jin looked down at the kneeling children before kneeling to take a closer look. They look like simple children if you get past all the ninja gear. Bland appearances but clearly young, likely younger than him. Smiling at them he beings to talk.

"Look, I don't like seeing kids die, please just either of you tell us what you know and I'll just have sensei knock you out and leave you here. Please." He pleads in a shaky voice, his gaze unwavering as he meets their eyes.

Slowly the prisoners look at each other, the girl nods. "They have him at the fortress a few miles northwest of here. We took all his things to fund the missions we have, please, let us go," on the verge of tears she begs Jin as she tells him what she knows.

"Thank you, see sensei we don't have to go around intimidating kids,"

*SPLURT*

Blood splashes across the girl's face as Jin stabs his kunai into the neck of her teammate. Her tears being flowing freely as she looks at Jin completely horrified.

"But, I. I-I TOLD YOU!" She yells at Jin.

"Yes, you sold out your allies to the enemy, you're a traitor, and a witness." He says before tapping the Hidden Leaf headband on his head and slicing her throat with his kuna. Rising to his feet he turns around and looks at Kurenai. "Sensei I have their location, we can move after looting these bodies," He says before casually squatting down and digging through their gear, taking all their money and shuriken and tossing their scrolls to Kurena. As he loots the corpses the sound of Hinata losing her breakfast can be heard behind him. 'Hm, she should get used to this if she's on my team, hahaha I can't believe that shit worked on them. Talk No Jutsu is actually useful huh.' He thinks as a smile forms on his face while looting the bodies.

"Alright sensei, let's move out," Jin says as she throws them into the nearby river.

'This kid, he's not normal. Strong and brutal. Completely efficient. A scary enemy.' Kurenai thinks to herself as they continue their mission.
