9 Return to Earth, Selling Gold Bars

Sam slowly opened his eyes, and saw that he had returned to Earth. He looked at his body and saw he was wearing what he last wore before jumping into the other world.

It was day time, however it was not strange that no one was in the park as this the ghetto, and no one would dare walk into a ghetto unless he was a part of a gang or was homeless.

'Oh, I have gold bars!'

Sam, although he couldn't use his status window on Earth realized his body felt 10 times heavier this time around, and saw that there was 5 huge blocks of gold bars on his jacket pocket placed perfectly to allow him to walk around without looking suspicious.

'We need to quickly sell this and get a new apartment elsewhere, we can't be in public when we return next time to Earth'

Sam headed towards a local jewelery store in the ghetto, which was run by the local mob in the area.

No one dared to rob the mob here, so it felt perfectly safe to sell these gold bars, and the mob won't attack Sam for it as Sam being attacked would show to other people that this store couldn't be trusted.

"Welcome, what do you need?" A man who was seated on the desk with a magazine in his hand stated his welcome without looking at Sam's face.

"Can you handle big business?" Sam says, he has experience with mob gold dealers, so he knows what to do and what to say to get things done.

The man then turned his head to Sam and closed his magazine.

"Give me a few."

He walked out back and voices could be heard from the other side of the door.

The man after a few minutes walked out with a smile and pointed towards the door behind him.

"Boss wants to speak to you."

Sam nods and walks in, he knocks at the door before heading inside.

"Come in!"

Sam walks in, and he sees a fat middle-aged man with a purple suit and a gold tooth staring at him with a smile and cigar in his hand.

"Welcome! Welcome! I heard you got big business for me, so speak up, what is it!"

Sam nods and grabs the five gold bars and places it on the desk.

The fat boss looks at the gold bars with a massive grin on his face.

"Registered?"

"Not registered at all."

"Impossible!" The fat man slams his hand on his desk in disbelief.

"Size and purity like this, It must be registered and you must have robbed it!"

"Check with guy if you don't believe me." Sam stared at the fat boss without flinching.

The fat boss seeing that Sam was confident then called a number on his phone, "Tell him to come in, it's important."

"Wait here kid, want a smoke?"

"No."

"Suit yourself' The fat boss then smokes a fat puff from his cigar, and both men waited 10 minutes before a lanky elderly man walked in with glasses and a slick black suit.

"Heard you called for me sir?"

"Expect the gold bars, is it registered?"

"Without even checking, it has to be of course!"

"Do it!"

"Yes sir!" The lanky elderly man then takes out a device from his suit case and a laptop and begins checking if this gold bar is registered.

"Impossible…"

"What?"

"It… isn't registered!" The lanky elderly man gasped and stared at Sam who was seated and calm the whole time.

The fat boss smiles and jumps from his seat, causing his stomach to giggle more than it did before.

"We got a huge deal kid, how much we talking for the 5?"

"Gold bars would sell for 50,000 a pop if registered, double it and give me 500,000 credits for the 5!"

"…"

The fat boss pondered and opened his book of transactions.

"Looks like we got ourselves a deal." He then reached his hands out and Sam shook it with a smile on his face.

"Want it physical?"

"Could you make me a credit-card, no ID required sort of thing."

"No problem, we know some bank people who can get you sorted, give me thirty minutes. What is your name?"

"Sam."

Sam sits down on the sofa once more and waited for card.

Soon, the fat uncle who left the room a few minutes prior returns with a card in hand, Sam was written on the front of the card.

"500,000 credits are on the card, if you got more of that gold, you know where to find me!"

The fat man slaps Sam's back before heading back to his desk.

Sam who didn't need to stay any longer left the store and headed towards a local Internet Cafe.

He walked in and booked a booth, and he quickly began searching for an apartment.

He found one, in a apartment complex and at the highest floor meaning he can have an amazing view also.

In this day and age, buying an apartment doesn't need you to contact the landlord or anything, you just purchase the rent and go to the apartment where you'll show proof of identity and move on.

Sam destroyed his ID card, but he can use his new credit card to show his name and how he paid for the apartment which is more than enough.

He left the internet cafe and began heading towards his new apartment, not before stopping and looking across the street.

There, he saw a girl that looks around his age with tired eyes and black rimmed glasses being harassed by the homeless dude in the ghetto. The girl looks frightened, and the guys were beginning to feel her up.

Sam who watched on shook his head and crossed the road, walking towards the girl.

"Hey dipshits, piss off and leave the girl alone!"

The two dudes who turned around and saw Sam laughed in front of Sam's face and began hurling insults at him and threatening him.

'They are drunk'

They were obviously intoxicated in front of Sam, but the girl who saw Sam came to the rescue began to look worried for him.

Sam smiles at her and nods, and then right hooks one of the drunk hobos in the face causing him to drop unconscious to the floor.

The other dude seeing his friend get knocked out tried to swing at Sam, but Sam ducked and uppercut the dude in the jaw, causing him to fall flat alongside his friend.

"Thank… thank you…" The girl says while keeping her head down.

"Watch where you go around these parts, this isn't safe for a beautiful lady like yourself."

"Bea-beautiful?!" The girl blushed heavily, twirling her hair.

Sam shook his head and walked off, not wanting to interact with her.

"Um! Please!"

Sam stopped.

"Please could you escort me home?"

Sam thought about it, but agreed since he didn't want to see a girl like herself get kidnapped.

They walked out of the ghetto and into an apartment complex, the same one Sam had rented online just moments ago.

"Looks like we are neighbors!" Sam says.

"WHAT!" The girl was surprised that Sam lived in the same building as she did.

"Just moved here, but you might not see me often due to work." Sam nods his head before heading towards the receptionist and telling them about his new status as a tenant in the building.

The girl who watched Sam talk ahead of her smiles before rushing back to her apartment without saying goodbye to Sam.

After proving his identity, Sam finally has the keys to his apartment. He noticed the girl left, and he didn't know her name so he didn't expect to meet her ever in the future. For now, he must focus on his kingdom, and not on relationships. Not unless he meets someone so special he couldn't resist. And in this instance, she wasn't it.

Sam took the elevator and went to the highest floor in the large apartment complex, and arrived at his apartment.

It was furnished, and the kitchen was fitted with lots of water bottles. Everything was neat and clean, something Sam really loved.

'We got 9 hours until we return to the other world, let's exercise and continue planning for the future!'
