4 Lord's Scenario Quest (1)

With a white flash, Sam feels his body disappearing once again into the void. Slowly the bright light which had blinded him begins to slowly fade away, and Sam opens his eyes.

He stares up at the ceiling and recognizes it as a tent. He has been in many tents, but not tents as big as this. This meant his status in this scenario was fairly important, but not important enough to have a bed to be fitted in the tent as other lords would have.

"Commander, we are ready to depart!" A stoic voice was heard outside Sam's tent, and Sam who hears it slowly gets up and rubs his head.

"Understood, get the men ready for departure!"

"Yes sir!"

Soon, he hears footsteps walking away from his tent and movement from outside.

"System, please give me the scenario!"

[[DING! Welcome to the Lord's Scenario Quest! You are a local commander from an average town. You received word that villagers from the nearby village have gone missing. Your mission is to figure out what caused the villages to missing, save the villagers who did go missing, and defeat the enemy. To gain the highest reward, you must have no casualties in your army! Good luck!]]

Sam nods his head, and stands up to put on his clothing and armor. He sees a variety of weapons on a rack and recognizes this as the system to help players get the weapons they need for their combat class.

Sam picks up a sword and shield, a classic combo for a warrior. He walks out of his tent and slowly takes a look around his surroundings.

A forest, with the ground being muddy showing that rain had just happened recently. The air feels musky, and the tents that surrounded Sam were now being dismantled by his soldiers.

"Commander!"

The soldiers who see Sam walk out of his camp salute him, and Sam nods his head in return.

"Tell the men to hurry up, I wish to make it to the village as soon as possible, looks like it might rain in the near future!"

"Yes sir!" The soldiers who heard Sam then started to pick up the pace, they quickly donned their armor and took down their tents, and began to start getting into formation.

Sam turned his head to see a brown horse next to his tent, tied up as if someone had parked it there.

'This is my mount'

Sam then removes the ties and mounts the horse with the saddle and jumps up.

The horse neighs, recognizing Sam as his master, and slowly walks toward the army.

"You know the drill, let's head there now!"

"As you command!" A loud shout from each of the men echoed throughout the forest. Sam nodded and thought that this was the sort of army he wishes to cultivate when he begins his army training.

The army began its journey north, heading towards the local village near the town. It took a few hours, but the soldiers didn't feel tired at all.

Sam looked around as he was heading to the village, making sure that there was no trap nearby that would ambush him and cause him to lose the 100% completion reward he desperately wants.

'Something feels off, but we are already there'

Sam looked in the distance and found a small village that looked empty from a distance.

They continued marching ahead, and soon they arrived at the village gate.

"Bring your Village Elder here!" Sam says while parking his horse in front of the gate.

Soon, an elderly man begins walking towards Sam with a walking stick in hand.

"Good sir, welcome to our humble village!" The elderly man cries, and Sam and the rest of the army looked perplexed, why is the old man crying all of a sudden?

"Don't cry, whatever issues you are dealing with, we shall help out with everything we got" Sam said, comforting the old man.

"*sniff* Yes, please do. My granddaughter is missing and I tried my best to find her but I just can't!"

"Okay, okay… I understand. Please tell me everything, from when it started and anything unusual happening since then."

"Yes, yes… please come to my home and rest, let your men relax around the town also!"

Sam nods and whistles, catching the attention of the closest soldier next to him.

"Relay the message, standby, and be attentive, anything unusual then come to me straight away."

"Yes sir!"

Sam then nods and heads towards the old man's place which was straight ahead.

Walking into the home, Sam takes a seat on the desk while the elderly man begins serving Sam tea.

"The kidnapping started 2 weeks ago, but it wasn't a one-and-done, with new villagers being taken every 3 days. We do not know when they are taken, but no matter how much we try to look out for each other they are just taken just like that! Just yesterday, my granddaughter was taken also, and I am worried about what might happen to her! She is only a kid, sir!"

Sam nods his head with crossed arms, he looks out the window to see some of his men talking to the other villagers, while the others were scouting the perimeter.

"Anything unusual?"

"What do you mean by unusual?"

"Like have you seen anything new that wasn't there 2 weeks ago?"

The old man ponders, "Nothing really, but I think Drew could help you with that."

"Who's Drew?"

"Our hunter, he said something popped up today and wanted to talk to me about it, perhaps you might want to listen to this" The old man stands up and tells Sam to stay seated as he calls out for Drew.

A few minutes later, a tall middle-aged man with a quiver attached to him arrives in front of Sam.

"I'm the hunter of the village, I heard you wanted to see me?"

"Anything unusual around the village that wasn't there 2 weeks ago?"

"Glad you asked because I just discovered a cave that was 100% not there last time I was hunting in that region"

"A cave? Any monsters you see pop out?"

"Nothing, but I sometimes hear sounds that I can't pick up, please could you check if the villagers are there? We are missing so many people, and some are about to give up and do something crazy that they might regret in the future!"

"No problem, I'll begin heading there now. You come with me and lead my army to that location!"

"Okay!"

Sam then walks out of the home and begins assembling his troops, while Drew begins grabbing his weapons as well from his home. They all then met up at the village gate and began heading towards the cave as per Drew's direction.

"Here it is!"

It took them an hour to reach the cave, and it wasn't a big cave at all from the looks of it. Sam couldn't recognize if this is a special monster cave, which would have a different layout than an ordinary cave entrance but to him, it looks normal enough.

"SCREEEEEEEEEEEEECH!"

'That noise!'

Sam recognized that noise, it was a noise that scared many adventurers from his early days in this world.

It was a goblin!

"Commander, do you know what that noise is!"

Sam turned his head and looked at his troops.

"Listen up, I am heading into the cave alone, however, it means you must all be ready for combat when I come back! Stick to the formation, weapons drawn!"

"But Commander! This is too dangerous!"

"Trust me, I got this." Sam looked at the cave entrance and took out his weapons before heading into the cave.

His men, obviously worried about Sam then heeded his words and began a defensive formation to hold until Sam returned, Drew on the other hand also joins in and stands behind the army with his bow in hand.

Meanwhile, inside the cave, Sam walks in slowly while looking around for any light source he could use.

On the floor, he finds a large block of wood and two stones on the ground.

'Going caveman style it seems!' He grabs the two stones and begins rubbing them vigorously before smoke begins to form, he quickly placed it near the log, which lit the log on fire.

'Games sure make it easier than real life' This sort of tactic wouldn't be possible, but hey, it's a game and so it worked somehow.

With a torch in one hand and a sword in the other, he begins to slowly traverse the cave.

"SCREEECHHHHH *clickclickclick*"

As Sam walks into an open room, he spots a small green goblin who was staring at the corner with drool on his face.
