24 Final Boss: Defeating the 'Dragon' Prince!

"What we have discovered… is a portal to another world!"

The gathering of powerful people that was silent for the announcement stayed that way for a few seconds, but soon erupted into a loud gasp and talked with each other about what they just heard.

"A portal? Is this old man senile?"

"That can't be real right?"

Every single person in the room was extremely doubtful and wondered if the president is crazy or is just messing with them.

"Quiet down!"

Soon the crowd slowly died down and sat back down in their seats with a look of annoyance and disbelief on their face.

"I understand that many of you do not believe me, which is fine! Here is footage of my men in an abandoned building outside the district zones which contains a portal to this other world!"

The president turned around and a projector of a video popped up.

"Good evening President! We have done what you asked and sent some men into the portal!"

Behind the scientist, a large white blob was floating in the air which looked to be a tear in the fabric of space and time. Men wearing gas masks and full body armor with weapons began charging into the portal one by one.

"After a few minutes, each of the men would return back to the base unharmed. They explained that they were able to create a 'character', similar to that of video games. Perhaps you may not be aware of that, which is fine but all I can say is that this other world isn't open to us for another few months. There is a time ticking down which the being in that space told our soldiers that the portal would open!"

The camera that was focused on the scientists then moved to the white blob and showed it close up for the video to see.

The video cuts there, and the crowd that was once unconvinced was now wondering if this could be true or not. The president wouldn't dare photoshop such a thing and make a big deal of it right?

"If you do not believe me after that clip, once again, you will have an opportunity to see it face to face. This gathering is to announce this portal, and to announce Earth's plan for this other world!"

The president returned back to the podium and looked at the crowd with ambition in his eyes.

"Earth's resources have been depleting rapidly for the past fifty years at a rate that caused our scientists to panic and begin looking at the stars. However, with the technology we have at the moment, it is futile to look at other planets to conquer to sustain our world. This portal, however, is a means to resources that would have taken us 100, no 200 years to get!"

He grabs the microphone and with his cane pointed at the projector.

"This is our salvation. For that, we must establish a foothold in this new world. We do not have lots of information on this other world, but according to reports about this 'character' creation, we may be able to gain land and have a foothold from the get-go. What I want is for each of you to have someone establish a foothold in your name. Of course, it would be best if you have someone that is related to you do this, as this isn't just for Earth, but for all your futures."

"Gentlemen, this information is top secret. All of you are government, so that is why you have the first notification. The major families can not know about this until we have the power there to control the situation. We must preserve the balance we have now between government and the corporations."

The President places the microphone back on the podium and nods his head at the crowd.

"That is it for now, please send your representative as soon as possible to the designated location provided to you by encrypted email. Remember, this isn't just for Earth, but for your future too. Do not mess it up for short-term gain, look for the long run."

The crowd erupted once more, discussing what they just saw. Some stood up and began heading back to their homes to prepare for the future.

"To awaken my slumber is something no dragon can forgive. Ready yourself human!"

The Dragon Prince roared loudly, causing Sam to stagger and soon he was met with a large swipe of the Prince's tail.

SLAM!

Sam hit the wall hard causing him to cough blood, but soon he got up as soon as he could and began running away from the next attack.

The Dragon Prince began to spit fire out of his mouth while running in the same direction as Sam.

Sam dodged the fireballs but was then quickly met with a shield bash by the Dragon Prince who pushed Sam up into the air causing him to be airborne.

"WAHHHH!"

Sam was caught off guard once again and saw that if he landed near the Dragon Prince it could be fatal.

He raised his great axe and began spinning round and round to gain more impact for the blow he wished to dealt.

Sam soon turned into a ball of flames as the great axe's blade was lit on fire and he landed the attack right on the shield of the Dragon Prince.

"ROARRR!"

The Dragon Prince who was pushed back quite a bit still stood his ground, but the shield he blocked the attack with was now spilt in half.

Sam was kneeling on the ground, feeling the aftereffect of the attack. He didn't expect he could do such a thing, but he did on such short notice.

He looked forward and Saw the Dragon Prince throw his shield on the ground and began readying his tail.

'How do I defeat this monster!'

Sam looked at the Dragon Prince from top to bottom, trying to find a weak spot. But the only plausible weak spot must be the red crystal nucleus in the middle of his armor. Either it was just decoration, or it could be his core.

Sam didn't waste any time and rushed towards the enemy. The Dragon Prince who saw this swung his tail towards Sam at full speed, but Sam jumped and dodged it perfectly, allowing himself to get close to the Dragon Prince and take a swing at his chest.

<WHIRLWIND!>

As soon as Sam reached the Dragon Prince at melee range, he began spinning around and the blade hit the chest of the Dragon Prince causing him to scream.

'Bullseye!'

Sam confirmed that it was something like a core and stopped casting whirlwind and charged forth and swung the blade overhead. The Dragon Prince parried the attack with his claws and with a sword slashed Sam's stomach which did hit and cut Sam deeply.

[[DING! Your health is low! Heal! Heal!]]

Sam didn't care for the notification and ignored the pain in his torso and the two began battling each other with each man swinging and blocking, swinging and blocking!

"DIE HUMAN!"

The Dragon Prince suddenly turned and tried to catch Sam off-guard with a tail swipe but Sam jumped the attack once more and swung his great axe at the knees of the Dragon Prince.

"GRAHHHHHH!"

The Dragon Prince kneeled to the ground and Sam who saw an opening on the red core of the Dragon Prince's torso readied his blade and began swinging away like a lumberjack on a tree.

CHOP! CHOP! CHOP!

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

A loud scream from the Dragon Prince shook the room, but Sam stood his ground and continued swinging the weapon.

Soon, the core began to crack and Sam stopped as he stared at the Dragon Prince who slowly had his armor disappear from his body.

An old man with white long hair soon appeared before Sam, and he smiled at him before muttering the words.

"Lissandra…"

Plop!

The old man dropped to the ground and soon his body turned to dust.

The Dragon Prince was dead, and Sam who realized this dropped to the ground in pain as he saw that he lost a lot of blood from the battle.

Sam who saw the notification coughed blood in surprise as he saw the reward. Dragon Blood? From the notes he read from the Dragon Prince, this would turn him into a mad dragon which he did not want at all!

[[DING! Refined Dragon Blood gives you the power of a dragon without losing your mind. Take it to heal yourself, you are dying!]]

The system's reminder caught Sam off-guard, and soon a potion was in front of Sam as he lay on the ground in pain.

'Here goes nothing!'

Sam opened the potion and swallowed the contents whole, and for a few moments, nothing happened until…

"GAH! GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Sam squealed in pain, and his body began to distort and his bones began to crackle. His eyes were now filled with tears of blood and his nose was as bloody as his eyes, it was not a great sight.

Soon, the pain was too much and Sam lost consciousness in the final boss room.

A whole day later, Sam slowly opened his eyes and saw that he was still in the final boss room, and he felt completely fine!

He sat up from the ground and began inspecting his body, he felt… off.

He stood up and saw that everything seemed smaller than it once was, if it was him from years ago he wouldn't notice, but he was used to his height now for a long time, and seeing how things are now, he knew he grew taller by a few inches.

'Dragon form? What's that?'

[[DING! Dragon Form: Similar to the Dragon Prince, you may gain the power of a dragon including its tail and wings for a ten-minute duration. After the power is used, you will then lose all your powers including your human ones for a whole day.]]

'A burst buff that allows me to become a dragon human for a few minutes? That is so powerful!'

[[DING! Eyes of a Dragon: A permanent passive that gives the player perfect vision for distance extremely far away, and the gaze may scare away lesser beings. You may turn it off as the color of your eyes will be red when used!]]

"No wonder everything felt off, my eyes are improved!" Sam murmured before staring down at the pile of ash before him.

"Rest with your loved one, you deserve the rest."

Sam shook his head and saw a sword and shield next to the pile of ash neatly placed.

[[DING! You gain the Dragonborn Sword and Shield set!]]

He picked up the weapon and attached it to his person, he felt much more comfortable with the weapon combo as he isn't really a two-handed guy, and having a shield made him feel in control of his defense.

'Time to head back!'

Sam turned around and began his journey back to the village, he has more work to do, which mainly includes setting up a mining outpost outside this cave and begin stripping it of its ores.
