Stress of Choosing and Outfit

"Where is Lao Gong, anyway?" The baby appeared in the bedroom as Chen Lijun pulled a shirt over his head. He closed the closet doors. On the front was a mirror which showed a bright and elegant youth. He hesitantly looked at the drawers. They should be holding underpants, but Chen Lijun was hesitant to open them. He glanced around the empty room and quickly pulled it open with his eyes shut.

"Oh~ Lao Gong is so thoughtful!" Hummed the baby.

Chen Lijun slowly opened his eyes. His eyes landed on the open drawer. His face quickly reddened to the color of a tomato. His limpid autumn water eyes misted over. The drawer slammed shut. In a flash the embarrassed boy had curled up in a corner with his hands over his face. He looked as if he wanted to dig himself into a hole and stay there.

Half the drawer was neatly folded black boxers. The other half was white and pink underwear with cute pictures or bubble letters on them. It was obvious at a glance that the underwear was 3 sizes smaller than the boxers on the opposite side. What made it worse was the baby's muttering from the side.

"This whole row is peaches. What are the melons for?" The baby didn't understand but Chen Lijun's ears turned even redder. "These ones have the day of the week printed on them. This one says 'Bao Bei', this one says 'First Love', this one says…"

"Stop! Stop it, just bring me a normal one!"

"Normal?" The baby stared at the rows and rows of tiny cutely printed undies. "Little hearts?"

"No!"

The baby glanced over at his master whose tail was peeking out from the corner. A sly smile curved his eyes. His expression turned to naive and innocent in a flash. He blinked, "How about I just choose something suitable?"

"Yes, just bring it!" Since he had someone willing to do it for him, he did not want to look at those embarrassing items again. He didn't know when Fang ge had even prepared such a thing. This was their first night together. Before this, Chen Lijun hadn't even dared accept his advances. No matter what he still did have a fiance. At this thought his head cooled. He needed to visit her later.

"Well, it's a good thing your betrothed cut in when she did. If that yuujyo had injected you with her malicious yin energy you may have fallen to a demon." Chen Lijun had already told him what happened last night.

Chen Lijun caught the underwear and put it on without looking. "Don't call her that." When he looked down to see nothing on the blank white he finally exhaled. He avoided the earlier drawer and looked at the remaining drawer. It didn't have sweat pants and shorts like he expected, but socks. Just like the previous drawer one side had dark colors and the other had pure white. Chen Lijun let out another breath he didn't know he'd been holding. He put on a white pair. It fit him perfectly. He continued rummaging through the closet.

"Then a shinzou? What are you looking for?"

"Pants."

"Why bother? There won't be any. Lao Gong is too smart for that."

"I found socks, why wouldn't there be pants?" He muttered to himself, "How did he know my size? When did he even prepare all this?" After tossing the whole closet he still couldn't find a single set of pants or a shirt in his size. He looked down at himself in a white oversized shirt. It hung to his thighs. He looked back at the slacks hanging in the closet. None of them had a drawstring, of course. When he tried them on they just fell right off him.

The baby followed his line of sight and sighed admiringly, "Lao Gong is so impressive."

He earned himself another flick to the forehead.

"Why isn't there any?" It didn't make sense to only prepare socks and underwear but no clothes. Will he really have to go out in this outfit? At least it covered his important bits.

The baby sighed helplessly as its master's naivety.

He looked at the light outside the window and calculated the time. Due to his training as an immortal he subconsciously overlooked the clocks. He also could have ordered the auto closet tech to pick him an outfit, but he'd unknowingly skipped over it. The baby didn't know much about this world and didn't mention it to him so they spent a lot of time in the closet. It was already the wei shi period. If he were mortal he would be scrambling to the kitchen in hunger by now.

"Where is Lao Gong?" The baby repeated its earlier ignored question.

"He left earlier for an emergency."

Chen Lijun hadn't woken up at the time but his consciousness was still active. When he woke up, his mind gave the answer to him when he thought about it. He seemed to recall being held against a strong chest and stared at for a long time before that. Chen Lijun lowered his head to stare at his feet. He revealed a cute hair whorl in between the tips of his pink ears.

"Oh god." His mood dropped as he once again remembered something, "Tingting."

He reacted to the change in topic, "Your betrothed? What about her?"

"What am I going to tell her?" His face pressed into his cupped hands.

"Doesn't she already know?"

Chen Lijun's distress rose. "What do I do?"

The baby didn't understand. In his time it wasn't unusual to have a few lovers or concubines. "What do you want to do?" He shrugged carelessly, not taking the matter seriously at all. He floated around on his back around the room.

His thoughtless words made Chen Lijun pause. "Fang ge always took my thoughts into consideration. He never forced me to accept a relationship with him. When my family decided on my engagement he just asked me what I wanted to do. He said it actually wasn't a bad idea, that being engaged with Tingting could protect me. Even though he was clearly upset about it."

"Bragging?"

"No. I mean I know what I want now. I don't want to stand by and let others decide my fate." He stood straight with a determined expression on his face.

The baby was staring at a floating light spot by the bed. He didn't seem to care about the breakthrough in his Master's character at all. "Master, what is this?"
