Breaking the cycle

The hall was filled with chatter, people were conversing and trying to get acquainted with those around them of a higher standing.

Philip came over with a smile on its face, he said "you know it wouldn't be bad if you get acquainted with some of the big shots here"

"I'm a busy man, I just came here for the mantra and then I will leave" Bian looked around with a bored expression, he wasn't particularly interested in the chit chat going on.

Philip made sure no one could hear before he continued "so what's our chance of getting first"

"We've done our best, chances don't matter anymore. We can only wait for the results"

Philip agreed with this statement, they made some small talk till Strass Kenneth walked up on stage once more.

The hall instantly fell quiet.

Strass Kenneth looked into the crowd in Philips direction. His arm slightly trembled for a moment before he spoke.

"Zoasis is known for gaining first always, this has become a sort of law that cannot be changed."

Many nodded and agreed, the ceremony was basically to boost the reputation of Zoasis at this point.

"Quite rarely other competitors have come close to challenging its undisposed position as first.

Even with overwhelming advantages the gap in earnings between Zoasis and the last planet on the rankings has never exceeded 5 billion.

But this time the difference has surpassed 100 billion dollars."

*gasp* everyone sucked in a breath of cold air. A difference of 100 billion dollars, Zoasis... no the strass family struck gold this time.

*clap!* no one knows who started, but soon everyone joined and the claps resounded like thunder.

Normally this reaction would make Strass Kenneth smirk, but he wasn't in the mood to smile at this moment.

With a raise of his hand, the hall went quiet and he spoke. "The first position this time"

Many people below had wry smiles on their faces, after all the fanfare he still wanted to announce the Strass Family planet as the first position. Although his excitement was justified it seemed a bit unnecessary.

"Goes to planet ...."

Bian suddenly lost all sense of hearing, his sight became fuzzy unable to identify faces.

"We did it, we won!" Philip jolted Bian out of his trance.

"Huh, where is everyone?" Bian looked around, the hall seemed to be empty.

"We had concluded, about an hour ago. You were lost in thought, you missed the celebrations and everything else"

'What, I was distracted?' Bian remembered how his mind suddenly went blank for a moment, he put aside this thought and asked "How about the scroll?"

"Right this way" Philip stood up, and Bian followed after him. They made their way back stage to the safe where the scroll was kept safe.

"I have some minutes to bring it up for the family picture" Philip urged Bian to learn the mantra.

A page of many names, true path, inner instinct. The name didn't matter, what did was the intent.

This scroll contained a very profound power for developing instincts, which will save your life when the time is right, if you trust those instincts....

Bian read through the scroll, it wasn't all that special but by the time he was done, he had grasped a new geno art.

His instincts had been elevated to a whole new level, he could sense death even before it got to him.

Then it came again, a loud ringing in his ears. Bian remained disoriented for a second before handing over the scroll to Philip.

"Are you coming to witness the .." Bian cut Philip off before he could finish.

"No, I've got somewhere to be. It's been real nice Philip." With a wave of his arm, Bian made his way to the saints hall to go meet Bai Yishan.

This ringing and disorientation could be fatal, especially in the sanctuaries where life and death were dependent on wits and reaction. He hoped professor Bai would be able to come up with a solution.

Meanwhile in the Strass family household, one would find several pictures of the strass family with the main figure head Strass Kenneth holding a scroll in each picture.

Even as the family members increased, among the hundreds of pictures, only he would hold the scroll in those pictures. A sign that he contributed the most to the family that year.

This remained constant up until the present day picture, where a seemingly unremarkable youth held the scroll.

A family in the alliance finally gained hope for holding their greatest relic, although not based on fighting each family should have their pride.

The pride of the strass family, originally believed to only be held by one man was now shown in the hands of an unremarkable family member.

After two hundred and thirteen years of Strass Kenneth perpetually holding the scroll, the cycle was finally broken.

Bian sat on a chair, awaiting a diagnosis from Bai Yishan. After performing several tests, professor Bai came to Bian with a solemn look on his face.

"Normally this would be good news, but not for an evolver, your third gene lock is coming undone. Your body simply can't handle that evolution at this stage.

There is no cure for this, the most you can do is suppress it with some special medication which wouldn't be good. The best choice to make is to evolve as soon as possible"

Bai Yishan left Bian with his thoughts after saying his bit. It was unheard of before, unlocking a third gene lock as an evolver but the universe must spin on, he had other things to attend to.

Bian who was left alone thought. When did the ringing start? After exerting himself in the Devon compound he heard it for the first time. It was so light, that he assumed it to be tinnitus from working to hard.

The again the police in the alliance do not use sirens, after his fight with the assassins and the two suppressors he heard some sirens. That was probably the second time he heard it.

Putting that aside, the major reason he came to the geno hall was for the state of the art rejuvenation pods. After completely healing all his former injuries he began practice using the original 'magic of yin and yang' from which yin yang blast had been formulated.

"As long as I don't shatter my bones, I'll be alright" Bian began practicing his new move inspired by Man Tian and the Tyrant Minotaur who used their fists to decimate their foes.

After two weeks of practice Bian had become very proficient in his use of yin and yang energy. Although he missed out on a lot of events in school, he spent a lot of time studying coupled with his enhanced memory he could gain deeper and different insights from the material.

He finally noticed a pattern to his peculiar problem which he called zoning out. If he forced his body to relax he would zone out from twenty minutes to three hours, this would give him about 4 days of rest before the next zoning out.

Thankfully he figured this out before returning to the sanctuaries, if not it would be devastating in battles especially without the tyrant minotaur and emperor manticore.

After greeting some researchers, he got a call from Han Yan.

"I've got good news, we are meeting up with your friend, Tian"

"That is news, but what makes it good?"

"He found the location of thirteen super creatures"

"What! So effective, how?"

"I have no idea either, he said to meet up in a week"

"Alright, I'll see you both in the sanctuaries then."

After hanging up, Bian looked at a target fifty meters away, of course the Saints hall had training facilities for evaluating geno arts among other purposes.

"Yin in Yang!" With a single punch, an explosive burst of wind spread in all directions, with most of the power focused in front. The head of the target fifty meters away, broke off its body.

He walked to a boulder from a planet fifty times the size of Earth, the gravity of the planet made all substances found in the planet tougher than usual. This boulder along with hundreds of similar types were pummeled on by testers, average evolvers couldn't leave a dent on its surface.

"Yang in Yin!"

Boom!

With a single punch, the incredibly dense bolder exploded from within, several other practitioners and researchers were shocked by this display of power.

"Is that surpasser?"

"I've never seen someone make a T1 boulder explode from the inside before"

"Was he the one who stole my spaghetti"

Bian ignored their whispers and walked away from the training facilities.

"I guess I'm done in the Saints Hall, he prepared to leave after meeting Bai Yishan once more"

"Hahaha, I saw what you did with that T1 boulder. The only thought I had was you've gained some insights even more than me in using yin and yang

You used Yin and Yang not in succession but at the same time. Any normal person would have blown of their arm if they were unlucky"

"Well you know I'm not a normal person" Bian scratched the back of his head and laughed.

"That is true, the drug for inhibiting your gene lock might cause permanent damage, I think it would be better you evolved as soon as possible" Professor Bai said seriously.

Bian agreed and after he bade him farewell went back to his home, he called up his status to check how much he needed before evolving to a surpasser.

"I have to max out my genes before I evolve, almost there now" As Bian was about to leave, he saw a researcher watching a video on the divinity bout of first sanctuary.

The winner of the divinity bout was named executioner blue, Bian knew such a figure didn't exist in the original super gene. Executioner blue easily suppressed all other unevolved making him a very deadly adversary.

The aura released by Executioner blue made him a little wary but nothing more. Having watched enough, Bian left the Saints Hall to go meet up with his friends.
