22 CH. 22: Too Deep Of A Slumber

After keeping his phone, Alexander looked outside the window of his office.

'Weapon Company and Biological Weapon…'

His eyes shone differently and a smile appeared on his lips.

It was a smile that disappeared a few seconds after it appeared but those who were present and had been wondering why he suddenly started messaging, something that is out of his character, still saw it.

Because even his eyes showed excitement.

He would smile like the usual doctor he is, it also reached his eyes but then again, excitement was not part of it.

He was both serious and approachable that no one felt negatively towards him, instead most of them respects him. Even those who were called his seniors.

Because despite his talent, he showed the rightful respect he needs to show towards his seniors and the rightful respect towards the juniors while also being strict with them.

Alexander Relish was a 28-year-old bachelor, who has the talent, hard work and passion for his profession.

He was even sometimes called a godly doctor because of how he can determine an illness with just a glimpse on the numbers after the tests. Sometimes even without this, as long as he can see the condition of the person he knew exactly where to start.

He has the capability to pull a person who was one step to death back to life with great vitality when he operates on them.

He was still young but he was already a sought-after doctor by so many big hospitals, not just within the country but all over the world.

Yet he chose to stay here in their country, in their city because his siblings are here.

More particularly, their baby sister is still here.

They were all very much worried about Heather that they couldn't leave until they knew she was fine and is leading a good life.

Yet after returning from where she went to after being publicly 'disowned', she ended up entangled in a matter they wished she never had to be entangled with.

But the stubbornness she showed during their last dinner told each of them that she won't back down from this challenge.

Plus, she was right, Heather was the person who promises the least among them. And she is the only one who had fulfilled each promise she made for her family.

This is also the first time they heard that she actually promised something to someone outside their family.

Hearing that he had saved her life, they could no longer say no to her wishes.

Now hearing how she was taking her steps one at a time, Alexander knew, his baby sister grew up.

He didn't know how this maturity came to be because it never showed during the years of her return to the city but it came and they were happy.

Not because she matured so fast but because she was now standing back up on her feet.

No, not with the help of anything or anyone, but all on her own.

They could not ask for anything more than seeing her achieving what she wanted. But of course, they wished that she won't grow up too fast.

That they could continue pampering her and showering her with their love.

'It seems that this younger sister of ours is doing something no one in the family for all the generations that passed, had ever imagined to become a part of the business.'

"Where were we?" he asked the resident doctors and nurses in front of him.

They blinked upon seeing him return to his serious self.

They cleared their throats and continued with their reports.

Nevertheless, Alexander's mind was still somewhere else.

He had tasked someone to look for the person Heather asked for him to look for. He thought a day was enough, yet there was still no news.

Heather did say that she was a good person.

'Does that mean after everything, after being betrayed and getting hurt, she really chose to leave? To let them live in peace?'

A frown appeared on his handsome face making the one reporting at the moment to wonder if he did something wrong.

The others glanced at this person as well.

Alexander was a strict one, with a single mistake they are made to research on the matter and the result should be a hundred page one. Not simply copy and paste but they should have explanations as well and the important points are to be emphasized.

Alexander noticed that the one reporting paled and stopped talking, then he realized what happened.

"Continue, nothing is wrong."

A sigh of relief escaped his lips before continuing.

Alexander focused on the matter at hand instead of letting his mind wander.

Heather didn't go out the next few days and instead continued reading the books she bought since the ones bought online have already arrived.

She even bought a few notebooks, loose leaf ones to be precise, and started taking down the important notes.

She watched videos and waited for Alexander's news.

Maya continued keeping a close eye on her and reported to Amanda what she was doing.

Amanda couldn't understand but knowing that it was connected to the science world, she scoffed.

"You act that you stopped acting, yet here you are studying her profession. Doesn't that mean you still are continuing your act?"

Well, Heather was right about this on Amanda, she wasn't perceptive enough.

Just because it is in the same field, a science one, doesn't mean, it was already the same focus.

Susan's field was the nursing field, Heather was far off towards the biological field.

Amanda thought biological subject was under the nursing profession.

Yes, there was a said subject but Maya didn't include the fact that Heather was focused on all biological matters that some are not a part of the nursing field.

In the end, what she studied was how to connect with people and not the particulars of each profession.

Amanda may have been the daughter of a noble but she was really not a smart person.

Of course, her thoughts weren't known by Heather who was focused on her studies.

She didn't care about Maya who was obviously watching her closely or those people waiting outside for her to go out and follow her again.

Soon Thursday arrived.

The sky was dark and the rumbling of a thunder could be heard.

Cyrus arrived inside the house after glancing at the sky.

It was not long when he came here for a file.

Normally he would not return so soon as he was trying his best to stay away from her.

But this time, even though the file he needed could be taken by his secretary, he chose to come himself.

He still couldn't believe the name she called him, he still couldn't get over it.

But the change in her was still a complete shock that he couldn't help but be more curious.

Who was the real Heather Relish?

Upon getting inside, he chanced upon the living room where the coffee table was filled with papers and books, even the floor has some papers scattered over.

And there on the sofa lay a petite body.

Her platinum gray hair was scattered all over her face and her breathing was shallow, she was asleep.

Watching her he walked over.

She had long eyelashes and rosy cheeks, her high nose and pink lips, her fair white skin. All of them blended together giving one the beauty that no one will get tired of no matter how long one was to look at it.

He cleared his throat when he realized that for the first time since they met one another, he actually stared at her face.

He frowned, was her changes too sudden that he was greatly affected?

But why? He barely interacted with her despite being married, so basically, he was still a stranger to her. Yet this person in front of him was too confusing, he couldn't comprehend what she was thinking or planning by staying.

Then his eyes went to the books on the table, seeing only the word 'biology' his face completely turned black before turning and walking up.

Hearing the closing of the door, Heather slowly opened her eyes.

She was simply resting and was close to falling asleep when she heard his arrival.

Hearing him approach she was stunned but chose not to open her eyes, in the end she heard him walk away heavily and he even slammed the door.

She glanced at the books before smirking, she can tell from his reaction of what he was thinking. That she was studying Susan's profession.

If she knew that Amanda was thinking the same way, she would have thought of one thing.

'Like mother, like son.'

She didn't bother about any of it and closed her eyes again.

She was so engrossed with what she was studying that she actually ended up sleeping either too short or too late.

But since she was staying at home, she can just sleep when she felt sleepy.

And she did, she went into a deep slumber after she once again closed her eyes.

Too deep of a slumber.
