Chapter 92: Rendezvous.

It was late in the afternoon when Qin Qianyu decided to go to the hospital. She wanted to check if there were any developments made.

When she got to where she had previously met the scientist's of DDT, she wasn't surprised to see a lot of exhausted men and women looking rather deflated.

She sighed and set herself up a corner then she pulled over the closest person to her.

"Ma'am, do you need something?"

"Take a seat."

Qin Qianyu instructed. She then took his pulse and after awhile she nodded and mumbled to herself.

She quickly massaged him which corrected the alignment of his neck and shoulders. This relieved the stress to the rest of his muscles especially his shoulder blades and his lower lumbar region.

She then stood him up and manipulated the sciatic nerve running down his leg.

After that she popped a five form pill in his mouth and pulled the next person over.

Soon she had a crowd around her all waiting for their turn.

"This isn't real right? . . She only read a pulse and started massaging different areas then pops a pill in their mouths and they look so refreshed and well rested!."

"Yeah, you know I'm seeing the same thing you are right?"

"Heh, we all are! . . But just because they seem fine doesn't mean anything. They could've just gotten a second wind after relaxing a bit."

"If you want to believe in this nonsensical witch craft then be my guest, but you won't find me being treated by her, even if it's an order."

Qin Qianyu overheard the ones that didn't want to be treated. She made a mental note to not treat them and only focused on the ones that did.

The middle age man currently being treated by Qin Qianyu stated in a blissful manner at the neigh sayers shortly after,

"A healthy body and mind, makes for a more productive person. It'll only be your loss, don't complain afterwards, . . ohhhhh!"

Qin Qianyu pressed a point that caused the man to moan delightedly. He blushed like a little boy speaking with his school crush from 40 years ago.

"Hehe, excuse me for that, my mouth couldn't help it,"

"It's fine, besides it's just your body releasing the right chemicals to reward your hard work, I'm just giving them a gentle push from behind up this steep incline."

Many of them asked a lot of questions about why she was doing something a certain way and it's cause and effects for doing it as such.

Qin Qianyu would explain to them the ancient science behind it all and correlated it in with the modern day equivalent.

At first there was a lot of doubt with what she was doing. But when patient after patient that Qin Qianyu saw became more animated and active after their individual treatment, those thoughts and doubts started making way for respect and amazement.

Qin Qianyu treated everyone except those that were complaining in the back. One of them came over to be treated but Qin Qianyu turned him away.

"Why did you treat all of them but not me?"

"I'm not obligated, nor is it my duty. I did it because I wanted to, I did it because I can. That also means I can not do it, because, I don't want to and I can not do it because I can."

" . . . "

To them, TCM techniques were pseudoscience at best, they saw it as a sham.

"Heh, seems you don't want me to debunk your trash techniques?"

"Why should I care? . . To me the results speak louder that any word that would come out of your shitty mouth!"

Qin Qianyu retorted to the young irritated man.

She noticed that many of the ones that were rejecting her skills were from DDT,

"Seems they've become arrogant and haughty since they were able to join a taskforce of the four winds, Tsk! Whatever,"

Qin Qianyu rolled her eyes behind her fox mask as she pursed her lips at them.

Every single scientist that was treated by Qin Qianyu, scoffed at the others and went back to their own work right away.

Some defended Qin Qianyu even though she could obviously do so herself. This was just their individual way of giving her extra thanks for her hard work.

"Modern science isn't the be all, end all! It's a continuation of past knowledge. Seems that all of you have already forgotten what happened before she came the first time."

" . . . "

They really did forget that it was her insights that had helped them through. They were stuck fighting over who was right and who wasn't.

Those doctors had all focused in on her TCM skills that they had completely forgotten that she also knew modern science also. Soon they all recalled that she had another doctor thrown out with a few simple words.

The unneeded, but welcomed defence of Qin Qianyu continued,

"Idiots the lot of them, let's see how cocky they are after we go another 24 hours without rest or sleep."

"Mhm, ma'am, pay no mind to them, they'll soon come to regret not experiencing your expertise!"

Qin Qianyu smiled and nodded to her newly made groupies and replied,

"Haha, alright, since everyone is done here, I'll go check on how Doctor Cao is getting on."

And with that said, Qin Qianyu went about looking for him and the female lead biologist.

When Qin Qianyu found them, they were working on a solution for the transference of data that would give the mother worm its set orders while portions of the mother worm was gestating in a petri dish.

The pair had conducted both experimental and known cloning techniques on a set portion of the mother worm.

She observed the Petri dishes and listened in on their current conversation at the same time.

"Using computational biology we can mimic the data that the cell needs to by creating a series of subsystems for the mother worms biological systems."

"The problem is the signalling strength needed in order to open those pathways though, and that's just the beginning. To much would over stimulate and cause false readings leading us back to square one."

Qin Qianyu listen and liked the direction the two were heading towards. She made her presence known to the pair and added,

"How about encoding a set of substrates into the worms physical structure that way each one of the substrates will have its own order and nothing else. If you have three of them at follow, docile and sleep we can effectively herd them out safely and without harming anyone."

Dr Cao nodded then replied,

"We thought about that route but the mother worms internals suggest that it produces its own natural beta blockers to anything foreign which would we believe caused it to explode in the first instance. Because the frequency level was a foreign source it initiated the mother worms fight or flight responses which then sent a distress signal to the soldier worms."

"How about blocking the worms production of oxytocin, it'll lessen the fight or flight response

in the worm?"

Qin Qianyu's mind shifted when she heard the female doctor mention oxytocin. She lightly sighed and shook the thoughts of Wen Wú Ting from her already crowded head.

What happened was still fresh in her mind and she soon realised that certain words were now associated to him.

"It's an essential part of its genetic make up, you can almost say that it's powered by that hormone, or uses it as fuel to function."

"Hmm, back to square one."

Then a thought hit Qin Qianyu,

"If we can't block it, why not give her a mate that can do it for her?"

Qin Qianyu's idea came from her thoughts of Wen Wú Ting and the nightingale effect that he seemed to be affected by.

Qin Qianyu explained that if a mate that poses no threat to the mother worm acts as its 'hero' in dangerous situations then a dependency could be formed within the mother worm.

"The nightingale effect? . . In a parasite?"

Dr Cao responded. The female scientist nods and added,

"Why not? . . If a parasite is able to learn and adapt to protect itself, why can't it learn and adapt to being protected by an external factor like a white knight? . . A white wriggling knight."

The trio spoke some more. While they chatted Qin Qianyu had taken their pulse and band applied the appropriate treatment to them and popped a five form pill in their mouths for good measure.

Qin Qianyu shared her findings of the soldier worms cannibalistic behaviour.

The two doctors weren't surprised. The share that they had also noted the same changes in the worms also.

Qin Qianyu nodded and bade farewell to the pair. They had a lot of work to do and it wasn't going to be solved that quickly no matter how many ideas she came up with but she was glad that they seemed to be heading in a more positive direction.

Qin Qianyu did a round to the ward visiting Lu Mingyu and Mu Liang. She noticed the change in the room when she entered.

Mu Liang was going through the techniques Qin Qianyu had left for Lu Mingyu to learn but the atmosphere seemed a little stiff.

"Is this how you teach your students at Renshi university Mr Mu?"

Qin Qianyu asked. She sensed the stiffness in the pair and the awkwardness it brought.

Qin Qianyu called Lu Mingyu over and began to massage certain areas helping her relax.

A slight moan escaped her lips as she melted into Qin Qianyu's palm and fingers.

Lu Mingyu covered her mouth and cocked her head sideways hiding her embarrassment from Mu Liang.

He just smiled and added,

"When my mother taught me her massaging techniques, some of the clients would even fart from being so relaxed. There were many that would moan out aloud more than what you did. I guess what I'm trying to says is that it's a natural response. There's no need to be too shy about it."

Qin Qianyu nodded and agreed. Lu Mingyu however heard none of that. Her mind was stuck on "fart".

She looked to Qin Qianyu with pleading eyes. Qin Qianyu knew it without having to say a word.

Qin Qianyu leans forward and whispered,

"Don't worry, this morning will be the only time, I promise."

Lu Mingxi nodded slowly then cast a glance towards Mu Liang. He wasn't paying attention to her relief.

Next Qin Qianyu did the same for Mu Liang. Qin Qianyu noticed Lu Mingyu staring at her hands as she massaged Mu Liang.

She sat there practicing on her own thighs.

"Mingyu, your come over here,"

Qin Qianyu brought Lu Mingyu to her side and had her mimic what she was doing on Mu Liang's opposite leg.

When Lu Mingyu touched his leg, Qin Qianyu felt him tense up. This brought a smile to her face. It soon turned mischievous.

Mu Liang saw this and his eyes turned to panic real quick. He had a fair idea on what Qin Qianyu was about to do.

He bit his bottom lip and shook his head at Qin Qianyu when he saw her looking at him with a toothy smile.

His eyes turned to pleading but Qin Qianyu pretended that his face didn't exist. She turned to Lu Mingyu to see her totally engrossed with the technique to notice Mu Liang's plight or plea.

Mu Liang was about to protest but it was to late.

Brurupbupbupbup!

The weird sound was made possible due to the expelled gas colliding with the chair that Mu Liang was sitting on.

Mu Liang grit his teeth in embarrassment,

"See Mingyu! It's as Mr Mu says, it's a natural response when relaxed."

"Oh, . . I see, . . Ahh thanks?"

" . . . "

"You see Mingyu, this happens when the leg muscles connected to the gluteus relaxes, it also causes the rect . . . "

"I think she gets the idea strange lady!"

Mu Liang interjected as Qin Qianyu was giving a scientific explanation. He then excused himself after he profusely apologised to Lu Mingyu for the butt burb.

He stood and walked passed the two women. Qin Qianyu and Lu Mingyu both held their breaths as the wafted passed as he walked towards the bathroom.

Qin Qianyu and Lu Mingxi turned to each other with bulging cheeks. Lu Mingyu in Qin Qianyu's mind looked like a squirrel with its mouth filled with acorns.

Lu Mingyu thought the same as she looked to Qin Qianyu. This caused the pair to share a good laugh. The tense and stiff atmosphere had now left the room and Qin Qianyu was happy that the pair could now teach and learn without being awkward.

Mu Liang soon emerged from the bathroom after trying to wash the shame off his face with water and soap to little effect.

He stared at Qin Qianyu in a disgruntled manner but sighed to himself as he saw the two sharing a giggle.

The trio spoke some more. Qin Qianyu relayed that she may not be able to visit them for a while. She didn't tell them why only accepting that she was really busy at the moment.

She couldn't tell them that she had a midnight rendezvous that may lead her to travel away.

After talking with the pair for some time she left the room. When she did, Qin Qianyu looked down the hall towards the area Wen Wú Ting was in and shook her head as she walked back to her bike and left for home.

Qin Qianyu came out of her home lab to see Lu Mingxi playing with Bai Saan. The pair were both shocked to see each other.

"Have you been in there the entire time?"

Lu Mingxi asked, she had stopped playing with Bai Saan. Well Lu Mingxi couldn't help it since he ambled quickly to Qin Qianyu as soon as he saw her.

Qin Qianyu gave the tiger a heavy pet and cuddle while answering.

"Mhm, there was a statement made about SIC and so I decided to do some research and revisions to keep my mind sharp,"

"Oh right. Well, we maybe leaving tomorrow morning, we can't see Lu Mingyu no matter how hard daddy tried. He was scared when he couldn't contact her phone, but we were able to talk to her over the landline connected to teacher Mu's room."

Lu Mingxi was relaying to her that they would be returning on the weekend to see how things have progressed with the hospital.

After talking about their day, they spent the late afternoon cooking together. It was Qin Qianyu's day for preparing dinner and it seemed like a nice way to spend time with Lu Mingxi.

The adults were in a great mood as they were listening in on the two teens as they chatted about any and everything under the sun.

That, coupled with the laughter from the pair lighten and livened up the household.

Dinner was done and the two families sat down to eat.

The meal was filling and delicious with the company delightful and homely. Qin Qianyu didn't forget Bai Saan's dinner she set his up at the large open doors.

When he had finished his meal, he circled the entrance before finiding a comfortable spot to lay down to let his food digest.

Late evening came around and everyone left for their own rooms. It was around 10:30pm when Qin Qianyu decided to make her way to her laboratory.

As usual, she left unseen and unheard as she entered the training grounds first to borrow a few handheld weapons.

She armed herself with two short blades and a pair of steel Shuang Guai.

She then headed out of her secret tunnel and ride her bike towards the location given to her.
