YOU BECAME MINE AND I BECAME YOURS

"B-brother," Gu Ren stammered. The person Gu Ren was most afraid of wasn't even their father, it was Gu Xichen. "It was Manman's idea."

Gu Ren immediately pushed the blame to his sister. Because she was the only girl, she was loved by all and no one could bear to scold her.

Gu Man rolled her eyes at her twin who sold her out at the first chance he got, before turning to look at Gu Xichen with an aggrieved expression on her face. "Brother, don't believe him. It was all Xiao Ren's idea. He said he wanted to see our new sister-in-law, I even persuaded him to buy a gift otherwise this guy would have turned up empty handed."

Gu Man looked back at Gu Ren with a gloating expression on her face, as if to say; I can get away with a anything just because I'm a girl, if you have the ability you can change your gender.

Gu Ren looked resentful, his teeth gnashing against each other, but there was nothing he could do. Who told him to be born as a boy?

Xin Weilin watched their interactions, her lips quirking into a small smile, waiting to see what Gu Xichen would do.

Gu Xichen patted Gu Man's head while praising her, "Good girl."

Gu Ren watched them resentfully, wishing he could beat up his sister. He was the one who suggested getting a gift, okay! He even chose the gift! Yet his sister took all the credit. And if he touched so much as a hair on her head, the entire family would beat him up.

Xin Weilin laughed at the sullen look on Gu Ren's face and the triumphant look on Gu Man's.

The day's radiance was soon overshadowed by the dark of night. And just like that ,the first day of Xin Weilin's marriage went by.

"What an eventful day."

Xin Weilin had met most of her in-laws on the first day of her marriage. She hadn't even gotten used to the fact that she was married, yet she met her in-laws today.

From the look of things, all of them seemed nice, not at all what Xin Weilin had been expecting. She stood before the mirror in their room, admiring the earrings she had just put on, before raising her arms to take them off again.

Xin Weilin froze when she felt a presence behind her, his manly scent engulfed her causing her to involuntarily shiver.

Gu Xichen's arms went around her, "Cold?" Because they were in close proximity, Gu Xichen felt her shiver and naturally assumed she was feeling cold.

Xin Weilin couldn't tell him the reason she had shivered was because of him, so she nodded. "Hmm"

But even then Xin Weilin was distracted by the sturdy body pressing against hers. She raised her head to look at their reflection only to realize her arms were still raised.

She proceeded to remove the earrings she had tried on, "Your brother has good taste." She remarked.

Gu Xichen looked surprised, "How did you know he chose the earrings?"

Xin Weilin chuckled, "With the way your brother was eyeing them and the resentful way he glared at Gu Man, who wouldn't guess?"

She removed the earrings, placing them on the dresser, before turning around to face Gu Xichen.

"Husband, I'm hungry." Xin Weilin complained.

"Dinner's ready." Gu Xichen took her hand and led her to the dining room.

While they had dinner, Gu Xichen noticed she ate mostly vegetables and no meat. No wonder she was so slender. He took some meat pieces and put it on her plate.

"Why are you eating so little meat?"

Xin Weilin remembered how her father would always reprimand her to eat more meat, saying she was too skinny. Her lashes trembled as she desperately tried to prevent the tears from falling.

How she wished she had listened to her parents at the time. The last time she had spoken to her parents ended with them having an argument about Mo Zhouli. She wished she could undo all of it. Why hadn't she been reborn to before her parents deaths?

Perhaps it was destined for her parents to die at that time, maybe that was why she hadn't been reborn to before their deaths so she couldn't change it. But even though Xin Weilin told herself that, she couldn't help the pain she was feeling.

A warm hand brushed the tear that had slipped out from Xin Weilin's eye. She was met with Gu Xichen's concerned features.

"Is my face so sordid that it made you cry?"

Xin Weilin smiled at his attempt to cheer her a up, "How can it be? My husband is the most handsome man in the world."

Gu Xichen did not give her time think about her parents, he kept on engaging her in conversation. They talked all through dinner.

They went for a walk after dinner. The night quiet, the moon luminous, the breeze a gentle caress against skin. They didn't talk, reluctant to disrupt the peacefulness of the night.

Xin Weilin stopped after she felt something being slipped unto her finger. She looked down at her hands that were being held in his; at the sparkling ring on her finger, before looking up to meet his smoldering gaze.

"From the day you married me, you became a part of my family, my mother is your mother, my father is your father, my siblings are also your siblings; my everything became yours. And your everything also became mine." Gu Xichen's hands traced her entire face, as though engraving her features in his heart.

Xin Weilin's heart throbbed as she stared at the handsome face of the man who was her husband, the man who was currently pledging his life to her.

"Your joy became my joy, your sorrows became my sorrows, your problems became my problems." Gu Xichen paused, gazing at her eyes searchingly, "You became mine and I became yours."

His lips brushed against Xin Weilin's, sealing his promise with a kiss.
