Chapter 20: How many of you know about this trick??

The leading knight was first stunned and then furious. They fell for the Orc's tricks that caused their three-person group to be a two-person group all of a sudden. If that was all, the leading knight could accept it as it is normal for adventurers like them to die in their line of work. What caused him to flare up was the fact that as a noble knight he got scared causing him to be unable to do his duty.

With his embarrassment turning into anger, the lead knight looked at his companion and they slowly began to close in on Red once again. The lead knights' strategy is simple, they would each take a spot on Red's left and right and cycle their attacks. This way they would be able to supplement each other and prevent Red from taking advantage of their flaws.

Unfortunately, if they can think of that tactic so can Red. He didn't wait for the duo to finish their formation and instead changed his position so that the weaker of the knights would be directly in front of him while the lead knight had no choice but to circle his allies back to reach him.

Red started his assault by releasing a normal attack causing the air to whistle as his sword cut through them.

"Don't underestimate me!" Feeling insulted by the Orc's action the weaker knight activated [Reinforce] and raised its shield.

[Reinforce:]

Effect: Increase all resistance by 10% for 10 seconds

Cooldown: 20 seconds

Clang~

The sound of metal colliding against each other rang out in the surroundings followed by the red numbers that floated atop their heads.

-20 (Red)

-25 (Knight (Common))

"Ha! You only know petty tricks, our companion died for nothing." the weaker knight jeered, feeling that he grasped the opponent's weakness. The unfathomable image that Red had in his mind because of the latter's previous action vanished like a bubble and his hands subconsciously relaxed their grip on his buckler.

Observing the knight's reaction, Red smirked like he was looking at a naughty child who didn't know what was right for him.

As the knight was in the process of lowering his buckler, Red's sword was once again raised in the air. This time he activated a skill causing the blade of his weapon to emit white light.

[Consecutive Strike]

The weaker knight had no choice but to grit his teeth and welcome the damage that popped up in his head.

-35, -39, -27

Even though he had all the time in the world to raise his shield, it wouldn't yield the same effect as the previous one rather pitting his shield against the sword at this time will shave a chunk of its durability.

The logic behind this is that while the attack had an attack speed, the block also has a blocking speed. Essentially the attack speed and blocking speed are the cooldowns of the action of attacking and blocking.

For instance, after an attack, Red couldn't follow it up without waiting for a certain time unless he had enough attack speed to do so. Similarly, the knight also suffers the same plight, because he already used block on Red's first attack he needed to wait for some time before he could perform the same action hence when Red performed [Consecutive Strikes] which is an auto attack resetter he had no choice but to soak all the damage. Luckily for the knight, he activated [Reinforce] beforehand so the outcome of their exchange is still acceptable to him.

However, Red is not yet done [Consecutive Strikes] as an auto attack resetter gave him a lot of leverage. Not only does it allow him to perform three strikes consisting of two empowered autos but it also allowed him to use another normal attack at the end of the skill animation.

Auto attack resetters worked just like that; while Red was waiting for his normal attacks to go off cooldown he can use auto attack resetters to literally 'reset' the normal attacks' cooldown without regard for his attack speed.

Watching his companion take the brunt of skill and a normal attack head-on the lead knight who's now on his rear anxiously reminded him. "The Orcs are devious and tricky scums we already witnessed that not long ago so try not to fall for his schemes."

Grunting, the weaker knight acknowledged his leader's words he still respected the latter very much as they have the same profession. Also, the lead knight had a higher level between them making him the stronger fighter when compared to him.

Alas, it didn't matter as Red continued to employ the same strategy. Whenever [Consecutive Strikes] is up he would do a normal attack, auto attack reset, and be finished by another normal attack.

At first, Red possessed a clumsy vibe around him, but as he executed the combo multiple times his actions naturally began to become smoother and his execution and control of his attacks became greater as well. Engrossed in his execution of the skill, Red only woke up when the battle was over.

With a blank look, he opened his mouth only to close them again every time. In the end, he smiled and shook his head.
