First Day at Work (1)

It's been a week since Eunice's rebirth. Waking up for the seventh time seeing her white ceiling and royal blue walls, she smiled and thank the Gods for another day in this view that serves as a reminder that she really is at home. As her new routine in the morning, she would then pull her thick navy blue curtains and savor the first light of the morning from her floor to ceiling glass window overlooking her mother's rose garden from the second floor of the three storey mansion.

On the first three days she would constantly be plagued with nightmares about her previous life. Then she would wake up in the middle of the night in fear and dread thinking that her rebirth was not real. That one day she would wake up all alone in every sense of the word. Without her family, without her friends, without him and without her baby. She would probably lose her mind and kill herself.

Fortunately it seems her mental health has become a lot better over time. Lately she's even reflecting on her past self why she couldn't extracate herself from Zach Lu. Was it his looks and the fact that he is a capable man? Or is it because of her own vanity and pride that tells her that he is the only man suitable for her? Was she such a shallow person? Or maybe because she invested and lost a lot for him? Was she really inlove? She couldn't understand, thus she decided to just let it be. All she needs to do is to never have anything to do with him.

Today is monday and also Eunice's first day in the company. So she woke up earlier than usual to prepare. Entering her walk in closet, she open one of the six full sized wardrobe that was just filled by her and her mother in the last few days. Two of them are filled with dress suits that mostly in neutral colors. She chose a beige colored pants and coat pair. Then she paired it with a white high collared blouse with golden decorative button in a shape of a rose that fully closed the collars on the neck area.

After selecting her clothes, she then sat in front of her vanity table to apply make-up. She isn't a professional at this aspect so she just decided to wear her usual look. She only put some moisturizer and light powder since her skin is more than good enough. After all she always take good care of her skin. As for her eyebrows, she always maintain it curved to soften her phoenix eyes.

Growing up most of her acquaintances told her that she looked intimidating because of her eyes that she got from her father. It subconsciously made other people obey her. It is advantageous for her as the future CEO of their company. But when it comes to her interpersonal relationships, her eyes usually drive people away. So she got professional advice and they suggested to downplay her aura through her eyebrows and she did.

For her eye make-up she only knows how to blend three colored palette, dark brown, lighter brown and gold. Thinking about it, she decided to make time and try to play with other colors. Of course with professional guidance namely Emily Zhang. Emily usually helps her with her make up in every occasion. But now that they both have different responsibilities she needs to take care of it herself. In her previous life she even hired her own make up artist just to attract Zach Lu's attention. But now she didn't want to attract anyone. Making herself presentable is more than enough.

Finishing her look, she used a peach colored lipstick on her bow-shaped lips to complete her neutral look. She also tied her wavy elbow length hair in a high ponytail that emphasized he small oval shaped face. You could never go wrong with a ponytail after all. Her final make up, although simple, is able to show her goddess like beautiful face in it's raw form that makes anyone want to offer themselves to her. It is also no different from a bare face so anyone can tell that she is already beautiful as it is.

Her overall look gave her a noble and respectable air that she is aiming for to earn the emploee's respect. What she didn't want the most is for them to think that she is unreliable and was only able to enter the company because of blood relations. Not to mention she is a girl. And the fact that she has an older brother yet he didn't inherit the company doesn't sit well with the senior executives who still have an old fashioned outlook. Unfortunately for them, her brother prefer making music than sit in front of those old men.

Although she can just prove her capabilities over time, she still opted to earn a good first impression through appearance. This is her belief ever since she was young that was influenced by her father and grandfathers. It's not enough to be capable, you also need to look the part. She already proved it in her previous life. That's why the disappointment towards her was even greater. Who would've thought a respectable looking person like her turned out to be a homewrecker. What a let down.

After giving her mother a kiss goodbye on the cheek, Eunice went beside the driver seat side of her blue car. The car that was given to her by her brother as a graduation gift. She already entered it not long ago to record her fingerprints, voice and iris scan. But at that time her family was beside her and a technician from LuMin Automobiles that guided her through the process. However right now she only just noticed that she still have a psychological shadow from the accident. She started to regret not taking her father's offer to go to the company in his car.

But she didn't want to worry her mother and let her notice her peculiarities. So she steeled herself and open the door then with one swift motion, sat in front of the steering wheel. She trembled after her body felt the familiar sensation triggering the memory as if she is reliving that moment of her death. She fought with herself and while squeezing the wheel hard, she took a deep breath, closed her eyes and hypnotized herself by saying 'You're fine. The car is fine. You won't die. Calm down.' over and over again until her shaking stopped.

When she opened her eyes, she saw her mother peering at her from the passenger side window with worry written all over her face. "Are you okay my baby? Do you feel sick again? Should I tell your father to wait for a few more days before you go to work?"

Giving her mother a warm smile, she rejected her suggestion. "No need mom. I'm just nervous and excited. I just gave myself a brief peptalk earlier. I'm not feeling sick. Don't worry."

Hearing her explanation her mother finally sighed in relief. And also felt amused about her little ritual. "Silly girl. Why would you be nervous? The company was literally your playground while growing up. There's nothing to be wooried about. Your dad and I believe in you. Go ahead and prove yourself out there."

"Thank you mom. I'm off then. I love you." After a final wave she then started the car and double checked all the safety features. And finally drive off towards the company head office and also one of her battlefield.
