26 The Mysterious Mansion

"Did you receive the surprise Gab sent you? She said you were really going to like the surprise she sent you so I am curious to know what you thought about her gift," Gabriel said stealing quick glances at her at every interval.

"She mentioned the surprise gifts so many times to me but I didn't receive any surprise that had anything to do with Gab. I was really looking forward to her surprise but I took my mind off the gift when I didn't receive the surprise gift after waiting anxiously for it for over three hours," Stephanie said disappointedly.

"You never received her gift?" Gabriel asked in awe.

I saw a glimpse of him outside the hall earlier so why didn't he give Steph what Gabi sent? Did he leave after seeing that she was such a beauty?

Gabriel mumbled, looking so absentminded. He did not understand why he would stand Stephanie up in such a cruel manner.

"What is wrong? Did Gabi told you what her gift was because she kept it a secret from me?" Stephanie asked seeing how absentminded he was.

"No, she didn't. I am sure she will call you after her meeting with her client has ended so make sure to ask her why she dashed your hopes. I am sure she will give you an answer as to why you didn't receive the gift," Gabriel lied. He focused his attention on the road so that Stephanie will not see through his lies.

He only became aware of what Gabrielle's surprise for Stephanie was yesterday when he saw her off to the airport. He did not want to ruin his twin sister's fun by telling Stephanie what her surprise gift was.

"Don't worry I know just what to do," Stephanie said smiling mischievously. After Gabriel parked his car in front of her apartment, she invited him in for tea and Gabriel who was dying to accompany her in accepted her offer wholeheartedly. They talked late into the night. Gabriel only left after seeing Stephanie yawned tiredly.

Stephanie freshens up soon after Gabriel left. She rested for fifteen minutes before she walked into her dressing room. The next that happened after she pressed a mysterious button on the wall was that she walked into a Magnificent Mansion. Although everything in the building looks ancient, they were gorgeous. They were more beautiful than all the modern buildings and types of equipment she has seen. The building was just heavenly.

The first time she had set her foot into the building was when she was just fifteen years, she had thought she was in heaven and she still thinks so whenever she stepped foot into the mysterious building. She knows nobody will believe her if she was to tell them that such a heavenly building existed that is why she has not mentioned the mysterious building to anyone. They will think she is crazy. The second reason was that she was forbidden from disclosing the Mansion to everyone.

"Hello...," Stephanie's voice echoed in the vast Mansion. "I can never get used to the brightness of this Mansion. I can spend a year here and still thinks that a day hasn't passed because of it ever brightness," Stephanie mumbled as she admires the building just like she had usually done.

"That is exactly what makes this place unique. You can't decipher what the time is here. It is not bounded by human's lousy time," a voice echoed throughout the Mansion. For seventeen years, she has been in constant contact with this mystery being but she has never met the person. She only hears her voice and it is through her voice she got to know that the owner of the voice was a woman.

"You are right, I remember spending three months here thinking that a day has not passed," Stephanie said jokingly as she made herself comfortable in one of the seats. The building in entirety is white and so is the majority of the stuff the building houses.

"Yes, you did," the voice said. There is something Stephanie has observed about this mysterious voice, the coldness in the owner's voice never vanished despite communicating with it for seventeen years. What surprises her more was the voice ability to know everything that goes on outside the world.

A few minutes passed and none of them uttered a word to each other.

"Ok, let's get to business. I have fulfilled my side of the bargain and now it is your turn to reveal to me all the secrets you have hidden from me and most importantly tell me the information about the little boy I asked you to find," Stephanie said sternly.

"Which one do you want me to tell you first. Your heinous past life or about your heartthrob, V? I will go along with whatever you want today so speak," the voice ordered.

My heinous past life? What the heck does she mean by this?

The confused Stephanie thought dejectedly. Since the first day she stepped foot into the Mansion, the mysterious voice has seemed so secretive and also suspicious to her but for seventeen years, she has not been able to come up with a conclusion of how she was related to the owner of the mysterious voice.

"Stop entertaining useless thoughts and tell me what you want? I will be forced to choose for you if you don't make your choice now," the voice threatened. Stephanie has already known that the lady could read her thoughts but she always has the habits of thinking before she talks so she did not feel bad that the lady read her thoughts.

"What I want to hear from you first is neither of the offers you have just thrown at me. But instead, I want you to explain in details to me why I suddenly develop strange abilities that I don't know of. I have asked you this countless times but you have always ignored my questions but you can't go back on your words because you promised to do whatever I want," Stephanie said, her emotions getting unstable. "I want to also know who the heck is that strange lady and man that has been haunting my dream."

"She is you and you are her, so why do you want me to tell you about yourself?" The lady said. Her tone looks like she was mocking the confused Stephanie.
