5 Pain

Chapter 5: Pain

'I hope Alfred won't find out one Fire Burners went missing in the kitchen until I depart.' Abium prayed silently and checked whether any changes appeared in the water.

After a few minutes, he noticed a slight change in the color and added sprinkles of the blue herb and two rose petals into it.

A few seconds later, a sweet aroma appeared inside his room and began to spread in every direction.

At the same time, Abium noticed the liquid color began to change from transparent to light green and nodded.

Following that, he took out a spirit berry from the leather bag and put it into the tumbler.

Simultaneously, he added those powdered Flux seeds and magic stone into the liquid and continued to heat it till the liquid resembled more like gelatin.

But suddenly, the liquid started to produce strange bubbles and then turned into dark color.

"Failure." A look of disappointment appeared on Abium's face. He then shook his head and followed the same procedure.

But this time, he noticed the liquid color changed from green to yellow.

When the liquid became a bright yellow color, he switched off the burner and waited for the tumbler to cool down.

A minute later, the substance in the tumbler went from a semi-solid state to a liquid state again.

'Done!' He smiled lightly, took out the glass vial from the table, and transferred the potion into it.

'Wisdom Tear!'

This potion wasn't much valuable treasure for Mages.

But for ordinary mortals and mortals, it would be a treasure.

Unfortunately, the portion formula and the procedure hadn't been developed yet. The alchemic Mages from Kaumith's academy didn't put much attention to creating a portion for the warriors and mortals all these years.

'But after the arrival of the Chaos Era, the Mages will think of many methods to enchant the warriors and mortals. This potion will be one among them.'

'Good. I need to concoct another vial before the sunrise.' A sense of urgency appeared in his heart.

Then, he once again shifted his attention towards the table and started concocting the 'Wisdom Tear' potion.

After two more failures, he successfully concocted the 'Wisdom Tear' potion and transferred it to another glass vial.

'Good.' He held the potion vial in his hand, moved towards the window, opened it, and soon noticed that the dawn had already arrived.

'I should drink it now.'

He then sat on the chilling floor and poured the potion into his mouth.

A bitter taste filled with a little bit of salt appeared in his mouth.

Ugh!

Just as he drank the last drop of the potion, a crushing pain struck him all over again.

The pain appeared like icy wind, choking his lungs' breath and making a noose around his neck.

Pant! Pant! Groan!

It was savage; bitter blasts cut right to his bones and gripped his brain in its freezing claws.

His heart constricted in its wake as if not sure if it should go on beating.

He slowly stood up, sat on his bed while grabbing his head, and noticed tears fall from his eyes.

Unfortunately, he didn't have the time to wipe those tears away as the pain in his head rose at an unimaginable level.

But he gritted his teeth and endured the pain.

Compared to the time he got captured and tortured by some low-level imps, this pain was nothing in front of his eyes!

'That's when I saw Helena and Kuran risked their own life and came to rescue me. If not for their timing arrival, I would've died much earlier.' A flash of memory appeared in front of his eyes.

At that moment, the pain also gradually subdued and returned to normal.

Still, he felt a slight discomfort due to forcibly raising his mana and sighed.

'This is a temporary measure. I need to get away and find a way to get my hands on the mana and spirit cultivation techniques.'

Nodding inwardly, he glanced at his hands and soon noticed sweats appeared all over his body.

Abium sat on his wooden bed without mind the sweat, closed his eyes, and observed the changes happening in his body.

He noticed a significant improvement of mana in his body and was pleased inside.

'I have three times the amount of mana in my body than a normal mortal now.'

At that moment, the outside darkness started to fade and was replaced with full radiance brightness.

'It's time to go. I don't want to waste any minute in this city.' He muttered inwardly, walked out of his room, went near the nearby well, and started pumping the water.

Afterward, he took a bath, returned to his room while covering his lower body in a towel, and wore a linen smock shirt and black pants. After that, he moved towards his cabin, took a drawstring leather bag, and started packing a few things for the morning trip.

Once he was done, Abium shifted his attention towards the wooden table, picked up the 'Wisdom Tear' potion vial, and put it inside his pocket.

Following that, he walked out of his room, moved towards the front yard, and saw servants and soldiers standing there.

At that moment, raindrops fell from the sky and splashed on his face.

'This journey will be more troublesome because of this rain.' He clicked his tongue in annoyance.

As he went near the group, he combed his messy black hair using his bare hands and turned his gaze towards the Lawbarth mansion building entrance.

It was a three-storied house and almost covered half an acre of land!

He then glanced around and turned his attention towards the other buildings.

He saw the city in the daylight, which he never thought of seeing again.

Roseglen city was enormous.

It was beautiful and had so much color. Some buildings rose high, casting their shadows across the rest ground.

One could tell that this Viscount had spent so much money on this city with a single glance.

Many bricks houses were seen everywhere, and the outside street roads appeared cleaner.

While looking at the buildings, Abium suddenly thought of the upcoming journey and felt troubled.

It was a journey to the Royal capital, Dewsummit city.

By carriage, it would take at least five days to reach there.

The journey to the Royal capital was for Viscount's son Robert's future studies.

Robert had long prepared to attend the mage selection test on September 10th, which the Kaummiths Institute of Magic would conduct.

The aptitude and other tests would be held in front of the Royal city's northern tower during the next few days.

Although Abium also wanted to attend the test, he knew that the chance of him going near the northern tower was very slim!

'Even if I go there, I have not a single gold coin to pay for the entrance fees. It's better to enter the Hunger Ruins and search for the Roaming Mage Finley's inheritance.'

Six adventurers entered the Hunger Ruins to search for some potion materials in his past life but ended up encountering a Rank-1 Magical Beast.

Even though all of them were Tier-4 Warriors, they stood no chance against that magical beast and ran in different directions to save their lives.

Among them, one lucky guy managed to find a hideout deep in ruins and got his hand on the Tier-2 Mage's inheritance.

After that, he hid in the hideout for the next two years and escaped from the ruin after becoming a peak-tier apprentice Mage!

Then, he joined the magic academy and became a court mage later!

Casting those thoughts away, Abium turned his head and looked at the 15 yr old boy, who was now coming out of the Mansion with two servants.
