270 Chapter 270 - Auditioning Kyoko Fukada 3

Laila's reaction was opposite to theirs. She didn't feel disappointed upon seeing Fukada's smile; instead, she uncrossed her legs and looked at her with genuine interest.

At that moment, the blushing Kyoko Fukada smiled sweetly and spoke in a slow, sugary voice, "You can go die."

She said this in English, and it wasn't surprising that her English wasn't perfect, but her performance left Laila pleasantly surprised.

Yes, this was it!

Who said that a killer had to be cold-hearted? Wasn't this also a form of cruelty, to smile sweetly while slowly reaping the lives of others? Smiling innocently while leaving deep bloody marks on the opponent's neck… What an impactful scene it would be!

Laila found herself caught up in a misconception, that she had been comparing everything to the original version while shooting. From character designs to dialogues, even the sets, everything had been bound to the original.

Perhaps this kind of full-fledged remake could guarantee that she wouldn't create a failed work, but it also limited the potential for greater success. In other words, she could achieve the same level as the original, but surpassing it significantly seemed difficult. She had been fixing small bugs and optimizing minor details, but when it came to changing character setups and altering the story, she had never attempted it.

For instance, now, if she changed the character's setup, would it be a good change or a bad one for the movie? Would a minor alteration upset the balance of the entire film and make it lose the love of its audience?

For a moment, Laila fell silent, feeling her heartbeat race faster than usual.

Her silence made the two on the other side nervous.

Was this a pass or a fail? At least give them a straightforward answer; what kind of game was she playing by staying silent?

Unfortunately, no matter how anxious they were, they couldn't show it on their faces or urge her out loud. They stared at Laila uncomfortably, like ants crawling all over their bodies, hoping to guess her thoughts from her expression.

Little did they know that Laila was pondering over a question that could be crucial for her future. Ambitious by nature since her previous life, her ambition was primarily confined to her dedication to filmmaking.

Now, Kyoko Fukada's performance had opened up a question within her that she had unconsciously ignored. It brought to the surface the ambition she hadn't allowed herself to unleash. Previously, her approach had been to make films that maximized profits with minimal investment. However, with some savings in hand now, she had hit a bottleneck.

Getting stuck in a bottleneck wasn't her style. Yet, attempting to break free while fearing the possibility of failure and its consequences for her dream of building a movie empire held her back.

"Achoo!"

A sudden sneeze interrupted her thoughts.

Looking up, Laila saw a blushing Kyoko Fukada covering her mouth awkwardly.

"I'm really sorry," Fukada said apologetically in a somewhat slow and sugary voice.

Only then did Laila realize she was still in the middle of an audition. "No, I should apologize. I suddenly thought of a movie-related question."

Kyoko Fukada let out a relieved sigh and then nervously asked, "How was my performance?"

"Good." Knowing she likely didn't understand English well, Laila used the simplest and most universal word, along with a thumbs-up, to express her satisfaction. Seeing the sparkle of delight in Fukada's eyes, Laila smiled at the manager and continued, "I'm very pleased with Miss Fukada's performance. I believe her addition will add a captivating touch to my movie. Regarding the contract, I'll have someone from my team contact you. Do you have any other requests?"

Hayato Izumigawa's heart finally settled upon hearing her words. It became heated with excitement. He had never imagined he would achieve this, that one of his talents would participate in a Hollywood film, and be chosen by one of the hottest directors in Hollywood.

Even if Kyoko Fukada had a role with just a few seconds of screen time in the film, she would immediately enter the ranks of top Japanese actresses upon returning to Japan. Even if the film didn't make it to the big screen, the fact that she had been invited for an audition by Hollywood could benefit her future career.

"None, we don't have any other requests." Hayato Izumigawa wouldn't dare ask for anything more. Being part of the movie was already a big gain, and everything else was a non-issue. As for remuneration, who cared about that? Whatever money she earned in Japan would far surpass what she could get here!

Laila hadn't expected him to make any requests, so she turned to Kyoko Fukada and asked, "Miss Fukada, do you have any requests?"

Being just sixteen, Kyoko Fukada still had a somewhat childlike mentality and didn't overthink like an adult. After a moment's consideration, she asked, "Can I have a teacher who speaks Japanese help me understand the script?"

"Of course." Laila readily nodded after hearing the translation from the manager. "That's something we must do. Don't worry, Mr. Shinichi Chiba and our consultant Professor Kaicho, who are also Japanese, have adapted well here."

Upon hearing the names of two fellow Japanese, Kyoko Fukada's tense expression eased. "Then, I have no other requests. Thank you very much."

Laila smiled and said, "That's good to hear. Now, you can go to the arranged place and rest. Mr. Izumigawa and our team will take care of the rest."

"Alright." Kyoko Fukada obediently bowed.

"Roy, I know you're out there." Laila raised her voice and called out towards the door.

As expected, Roy poked his head in from outside, grinning. "I was just wandering around."

How could 'just wandering around' lead him here? Laila had her doubts.

"I don't care about all that. Since you've 'wandered' here, you must have a lot of free time. Help me take this lovely young lady and Mr. Izumigawa to the hotel for some rest. I've already arranged the rooms, just ask the front desk when you get there."

Roy hopped in, bowing in a medieval manner. "Yes, Your Majesty." Then, he waved playfully at Kyoko Fukada. "Follow me."

This was probably the first time Kyoko Fukada had been this close to an American man. Especially one so good-looking. She felt a bit awkward.

Hayato Izumigawa reassured her in Japanese before bidding farewell to Laila and accompanying the two to the hotel.

During the filming, the crew, along with a few Japanese actors, including Kyoko Fukada and Hong Jinbao, were staying at the themed hotel within the amusement park.

Originally, the open rooms of the hotel had been decorated with horror movie themes. Some might not have dared to sleep in them due to their timidity. Later, to meet more customers' requests, the hotel renovated some rooms on the upper floor into "normal" rooms.

Currently, these unreleased normal rooms were where the crew members stayed. If anyone was interested in the themed rooms, Laila didn't mind if they tried them out. The only condition was that they shouldn't show up the next day with dark circles under their eyes and a lack of energy, ruining their work.
