1 CH: 1 Beginning

(MC POV)

The next morning, Henry woke up. Even now, he felt as if what had happened to him last night was just a dream and that he would wake up sometime later.

But now he was awake, Henry had to acknowledge the undeniable truth of everything he had experienced. Meeting a being that, considering what he gained, a being who could be called an All-Powerful God, shattered any illusion that it was a mere dream. Now, fully aware that this was his reality, he realized the imperative to move on from his past self and embrace the profound changes that had come with encountering such a remarkable entity.

Ok, this is weird. I always read that those people who die and get reincarnated are then greeted either nicely and get to choose some wishes, or not and then either only get to spin some form of wheel or not even that. But this is just strange.

I died. Yada Yada Yada and here I am. I don't know where it is, I don't know how I got here and I don't know who was the person/thing that talked to me. But all of those things aren't important right now. What is important is the strange experience I had with this 'person' and what I got out of this experience.

(Flashback)

"Hello hello hello and welcome to the 'Space in between'. I am here for you since you have hit the jackpot and are allowed to get reincarnated as I'm sure you're already aware. Who I am is not really important since people tend to forget that anyway. So let us skip right to the important parts. What is it that you want?"

"Well, then would you tell me where I'm going?"

"You're headed to a plain, simple Earth, devoid of much supernatural existence. My higher-ups have grown weary of the light shows scattered all over by the chosen few, and this will be a breath of fresh air for them. Although it's Earth, it's a bit unique. There are parallels between the planet you came from and this one, with a ratio of 2 to 1, and some timey-wimey aspects. You'll have to discover for yourself what makes this Earth special. Now that it's a normal Earth, your wish shouldn't be overpowered; it should be something simple, fitting the nature of the place we've chosen for you.

"Ehhh, ok. Well, I would like to have the powers of Doomsday if that is even possible. No matter where I'm going, I believe that is a good choice."

"Ah, what are you kidding me I had just told you it should be normal and there are limits to what you can wish for. And I don't think ever evolving monsters are normal."

"I see. And what are those limits?"

"You see you will be a human in the next life. Sooo if you wish for specific templates so to speak, they'll have to be human. I'm sorry that's just a rule higher ups came up with when they find out about the existence of the planet we are sending you."

"I understand. Well then, I'll take the template of Saitama, the main character of One Punch Man. He has good strength and potential, so I'll be on the safer side since he is also rather resistant to anything psychic in nature."

"Fuck man… why you had to be like this, Saitama is sadly off the table. So how about you choose something else, like a skill? Yes, a skill will do. Is there a skill you are interested in?"

"... Ok, I'll take Saitama's 'Greater Accelerated Development'. That's basically what makes him grow exponentially, as long as he has a strong enough emotion. So that'll be good."

"Weeeellll~"

#

"What?"

"How about you forget Saitama for now? No skills that have anything to do with Saitama are allowed. It's ... it's a rule they made you see. Yes, a rule. So please choose something else."

*Sigh*

"Alright then. I'll choose Superior Adaptation. Saitama doesn't have that skill so it should be-"

"I'm sorry but that also won't work either.", the person said.

"Are you joking? This is getting a bit ridiculous."

"Is there no other skill you're interested in?"

"Unlimited potential."

"Sorry no."

"What?! That's not even immediate power and only potential. How is that not allowed? Are you serious?"

"I'm afraid so. Please choose something else."

"The intelligence of Rick Sanchez."

"Sadly not doable."

"Azmuth?"

"No."

"Dr. Who?"

"No"

"Mr. Fantastic?

"No"

"Lex Luthor"

"Not a chance."

"A supermart AI Chip."

"Reactive Evolution."

"Are you joking?"

"Garou's understanding of the 'flow' of all energies."

"Also no."

"..."

"..."

"Is this your first time? You say I can choose but haven't said yes to one of my wishes. Would you rather choose for me then?"

"Eh, no I can't. You are allowed to make a wish so I can't say anything against that. I apologise for that. I understand that this is a bit stupid. You are correct, it is my first time. But rules are rules. How about this then? You can choose a bloodline. Wouldn't you like to choose a bloodline?"

"Well, I guess, yes."

""Hehe, and before you begin, no Kryptonian bloodline, neither ancient nor any other."

"Hmm ... What about Daxamite?"

"... Come on! You're killing the mood here. I say this and you choose something that is just as ridiculous."

"How ridiculous is it? Daxamites are weak to lead."

"Yes, and it's the planet whose highest weapons are nukes. So I would have to give you the choice of which version of the bloodline you want, so you could easily choose the one that isn't weak to lead. That would be worse than a Kryptonian."

*Sigh*

"Ok then how about a Saiy-"

"NO! Not a Saiyan."

"My goodness. This is turning out the worst possible reincarnation experience ever. Ōtsutsuki."

"No."

"Viltrumite?"

"Nope."

"Allen the Alien?"

"Niet"

"Frost Demon, Frieza's race?"

"Nein."

"Beerus' race?"

"Denied"

"Eternal?"

"No."

"Celestial?"

"No."

"Old Gods?"

"No."

Dc's New Gods

"No way!"

"Burning Martian?"

"Also no."

"Olympian?"

"That's worse."

"Beyonders?"

"Are you joking? I feel like you're not even trying at this point."

"Well, what do you expect? This isn't really fun for me either."

"I don't know what to do. You choose such powerful things that I am afraid it will become the plain old light show that will end with earth's destruction."

"And who cares about that? It's my life, no? I am very thankful for you people giving me a second chance. But what would be the point of a second chance if I still remained the same without anything add up to even it's normal earth? I would still be died who knows how soon without getting anything out of this second chance. So I should be allowed to choose.

How about I choose a Meta Essence?"

"NO! Are you out of your mind? That's the worst wish yet."

"Worse than the Beyonder bloodline?"

"... comparable."

"OMG."

"How about ... you first choose who to transmigrate as or even reincarnate could work as well."

""Thor Odinson"

"Come on. Be reasonable."

"Haaa, this is frustrating. Tony Stark."

"No."

"But that is reasonable."

"No, it isn't. Also, it has been done before."

"For real? How does that matter? It will be MY life!!"

"Still. Choose another."

"Cain Marko."

"No"

"Gladiator."

"No"

"Zeus."

"No"

"Hercules?"

"No"

"Dr. Adam Brashear."

"No"

"Bruce Banner."

"No"

"Thanos?"

"No"

"Robert Reynolds.

"No"

"No?"

"No."

"For f*cks sake! I want to speak to the manager."

"W-What?"

"I said I want to speak to the manager! Right now. I've had enough of this shit. I have given you enough characters, bloodlines and skills that I am interested in and you have said no to all of them. I want to speak to your superior, NOW!"

"B-but how about this, I'll give you something cool. How about the ... Things. How about the Thing? He is cool, no?"

"No. I want to speak to your superior."

.

{ROB #1069-6678944'543784. YOU HAVE FAILED YOUR TASK AND HAVE BEEN DEEMED A FAILURE. YOU ARE HEREBY REMOVED FROM YOUR POST AND ARE TO GO BACK TO STUDYING. THE COLLECTIVE WILL TAKE OVER FROM HERE}

"Nooo, please give me another chance. He was asking for so many powerful wishes in a backward world and that would have made it boring. I was just trying to help your entertainment. Really that was all I wanted to do."

{THAT WAS NOT YOUR JOB. YOUR JOB WAS TO FULFILL THE WISHES OF THIS SOUL AND KEEP IT REASONABLE. YET YOU FAILED THIS SIMPLE TASK AND NOW WE HAVE A PROBLEM. WE WILL HAVE TO INTERFERE WITH HIM DUE TO YOUR FAILURE TO DO A SIMPLE THING. BEGONE NOW.}

The 'person' left and the only thing that was left was me and this strange voice.

"{SOUL, WE ARE ASHAMED OF THIS PERFORMANCE. PLEASE EXCUSE US. AS COMPENSATION, WE WILL ALLOW YOU TO ASK ONE WISH WITHIN REASONABLE REACH, AS YOU ALREADY INFORMED BEFORE, YOU WILL BE SENT TO A PLANET SIMILAR TO YOURS WITHOUT MUCH SUPERNATURAL. SO YOU SHOULDN'T BE GREEDY AND ASK FOR POWERS THAT ARE OUT OF REACH FOR YOUR REINCARNATION. I AM STATING THIS AS A WARNING: IF YOUR NEXT WISH IS AS OUTLANDISH AS BEFORE, I WILL THROW YOU INTO YOUR WORLD WITHOUT ANY WISH. PLEASE STATE YOUR WISH NOW.}"

"I can understand all that, and I am sure you know what I am about to say, but still I'd like to voice out my thoughts. Now I have the chance to reincarnate, and I've met a nearly omnipotent being, and completely omnipotent Eternity. Even in the normal world, I would like to be extraordinary. What's the point of reincarnation if I remain normal and didn't get a golden opportunity, especially after meeting you? If this reincarnation happens and I die again, I am sure I won't get this chance forever. Death comes in more ways than we could count. Statistically speaking, there is more than a 50% chance that I will die before my 20s, and I am sure it won't be fun for both of us. Now, I would be damned if I let go of this chance and didn't ask for something at least with a lot of potential without getting direct 'powers.'"

{MMM, THAT'S VERY UNDERSTANDABLE. SO GO ON.}

"Then keeping all this in mind, I would like to gain the intellect and experience of Norman Osborn from Marvel Comics Earth-616. If you think it's too much, you could remove the knowledge of how to make the Goblin Formula from the memories."

{MMM, NOT BAD, KID. NOT BAD AT ALL. CONSIDER ME IMPRESSED. IT'S A SMART CHOICE GIVEN HIS INTELLECT. THAT IS NOT EVEN THAT OUTRAGEOUS. VERY WELL, IT SHALL BE DONE. I WILL REMOVE ANYTHING THAT WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR THE WORLD AND REQUIRE YOU TO BUILD IT YOURSELF. NOW, IT HAS BEEN GRANTED. GOODBYE, AND PLEASE ENJOY, FOR WE SHALL NEVER MEET AGAIN.}

"Thank you."

(Flashback end)

He received the wish he asked for, and it was still difficult for him to believe that he had truly obtained it without any strings attached. After employing 'his' newly acquired heightened intellect, he realized that he had indeed received what he wanted, and this wasn't just a dream.

Henry got up from bed and stretched his body as he still felt tired from his overnight writing. He brushed his teeth and took a shower as he felt that his whole body was sticky with dried sweat.

After the shower, Henry picked out some clothes and wore them as he came downstairs.

Henry approached the dining room and saw his father sitting on a chair at the table reading a newspaper as his mom cooked in the kitchen. Henry grabbed a chair and sat on it.

Jacob glanced at his son before continuing to read his newspaper. After 5 minutes, Margaret brings an omelet, French-toast, bacon and milk.

Seeing his wife done with the cooking, Jacob put down the newspaper and began eating.

The breakfast went silently as the William family had never been a noisy family.

After breakfast, Jacob spoke, "Henry, which university do you plan to go to? You know now that you're almost done with high school."

Henry kept calm as he decided to act like a normal teenager so as not make his parents suspicious and replied, "Dad, I think I'd like to go to Harvard University's Law department"

Jacob was surprised at his son's somewhat unexpected reply. But then again, it's Henry's choice, he would never force his son to do something that went against his will as the result would often be counterproductive.

"Harvard University it is then. If that is your choice, I will support you. If you go there, go to Professor Eric, my friend. He will take care of you at Harvard." Jacob said.

When Henry heard his father, he was excited as he had prepared a lot of excuses to convince his parents if they did not support him. With his father's approval, everything became easier.

"Son, it's almost late, you must go to school now", Margaret reminded Henry.

Hearing that, Henry grabbed his backpack upstairs and got on his bicycle.

---

At school, Henry acted like his normal 'self' and tried not to seem strange. He was quite popular at school due to his good looks and well-built body. The teachers were also quite fond of him as he was diligent, smart, and never conducted badly in his years of study. Henry was an example of how a perfect student should be.

Even though he was quite popular and had many girls chasing him, he never had a girlfriend. Despite his being a bookworm/nerd, he was still quite popular.

Henry continued his classes at the High School normally. After he got back home, he wrote the 'Devotion of Suspect X' all day as this would determine how much money he would get for his first company.

He repeated this schedule for 3 days before finishing the book. He planned to talk to his mom as she owned a bookstore and must have had contacts at the publishing houses.

Now it's Monday, so Henry did not go to school. He walked over to where his mom lounged in her chair, relaxedly flipping through a novel, I had to cough lightly to grab her attention "*Kehum*.. mom can I talk with for a second" mom finished the last line she was on before looking up at me "sure thing honey, what's up?"

Henry sits on her opposite side with a book, the 'Devotion of Suspect X'.

"I want to publish a book, but I don't have a channel to do so. So, the first person that came to my mind is you mom." Henry explained

"You want to publish a book?" Margaret was surprised as she never expected her son to write a book.

"Yes, this is the book. I started writing it a month ago and just finished it." Henry replied, giving Margaret the book. Henry lied about the time he wrote the book because if he tells her that he had written it in 3 days, she would probably won't believe it.

When Margaret heard that, she picked up the book and began reading. At first, she thought Henry was just playing with her. But after seeing the content inside, she was shocked as she felt that the book's content was quite intriguing. The rhythm, plot and other points were on the level of bestselling authors.

She herself was the owner of a bookstore, so she was confident in her own judgment. But because of this she was shocked at this book's potential.

"Are you sure you wrote this yourself, Henry?" Margaret questioned Henry as she felt that it was quite unbelievable.

"This is 100% my own hard work. How could I fake it?" Henry felt quite proud as he could feel his mom's shock from reading his book. Even though he just copied it, he was feeling quite proud now.

"If this really is your own book, mom will fully support you. I will contact my friend and send her a copy of your work. Do you mind mom taking it for a little while?" Margaret asked.

"Of course not, you can take it, mom." Henry replied.

Margaret then went out to copy his book and send it to her contact. Now Henry just had to wait for the good news from his mom.
