Real Kingdom Online: I’m an NPC in a Game?

After seeing a 'Chosen One' save her little village in person when she was young, Videl dreams of becoming a sword mage just like her. She makes it a point to join the 'Chosen Ones' Familia in order to potentially become friends with her. If the 'Chosen One' gives her crest to join her Familia, they would definitely become friends right? However, things don't go as planned as she ends up receiving a crest from some random little girl she saved on her way to Pendragon city to join the 'Chosen ones' Familia. And you can only have one crest at a time. Not only that, something crazy happens that may make it even harder for her to join her idol's Familia. Jenny Baker loves playing the deep dive VR game Real Kingdom Online and is basically the most popular player. So she leaves the more populated area of the game to play by herself. Setting up her Familia in a city called Pendragon City, she enjoys her time playing only with NPCs. However, doing so ends up causing something huge to happen in the real life world. Luna is a Goddess sent by the world of the gods to find out why no-one can leave the world of the gods as she is the only one that can.

I Am An NPC In A Game?

"You mean how I normally enter the game?" Jenny asked, still not ready to believe that Real Kingdom Online wasn't just a VR video game even with the facts right in front of her. She would play along for now hoping she was just getting pranked on. The idea of having killed real people was still a little too much for her, even if they were bad people.

"Like I said, the worlds we came from are no game." Luna stated.

"Ok, anyways, in order for me to go to Real Kingdom Online I would need to put the E-merseU deep dive VR headset on then lay down on the bed. After that, I select Real Kingdom Online from the list of games I have purchased and then select 'Start Game'. My consciousness is then supposed to be brought into the world of Real Kingdoms Online. At least that's how I would describe it." Jenny explained.

"Hmmmmm… So, it sounds like we need another E-merseU if we want both you and the two of us to go at the same time then?" Luna asked curiously.

"Probably," Jenny confirmed. "I might be able to ask my uncle if he could send me another one but he will defiantly ask why I need it."

"You could tell him that you have a friend staying with you that you want to play with. And Videl here can play the role if he wants proof." Luna said with a thoughtful expression. "But how does your uncle have one of these E-merseU that he can give you?"

"Um… well… he happens to be one of the creators of the game… He's the one that gave me this headset, as well as, the game itself. He's currently working on more games for the E-merseU." Jenny said even though she was unsure about revealing this information to two girls she just met for the first time in her own room but, this little girl claiming to be a goddess was to smart for her liking and would probably figure it out anyways.

"Oh, so you're saying that you know someone that was involved with the creation of these E-merseU's and he claims to have helped build our world?" Luna asked.

"Well, he works more on the games for them instead but I guess you could say that."

Jenny started sweating under the interrogation Luna was conducting.

"Hey, I have a question." Videl chimed in.

"Ok," Jenny replied. "Shoot."

"Can you explain more about video games? They sound interesting."

"Ok, well video games are made for entertainment. Basically, players enter the games to play them and interact with the NPCs that were placed in the game to fill in the rolls that players can't, as well as, to make the game feel like the world in the game is lived in."

"So, are you saying I am an NPC in a game?" Videl asked with wonder in her eyes.

"Well, I guess. But if we get you an E-merseU then I think you could say we converted you to a player."

"Wow, that's sounds cool." Videl had sparkles in her eyes.

"Alright, lets get back to the serious questions now. Would it be possible for us to meet with your uncle? There are some questions I think I would like to ask him." Luna jumped in to turn the conversation back on the right track.

Jenny knew this was coming. This little girl seemed more like a detective than a goddess.

"I mean I can ask him, but he might be busy with the current game he is working on."

"We can wait, I mean, we have to till we get another one if these headsets anyways," Luna said with a smile. "So, would you mind?"

"Ok, sure, I'll call him. But first I think we need to find cloths for her… If you're going to be staying here that is." Jenny pointed to Videl who was still wrapped in a blanket.

So, they proceeded to go through Jenny's cloths to find something that fit Videl. After finding her a pair of pajamas to wear for now, Jenny called her uncle.

"Hey, Uncle Marty, um I have a favor to ask…." Jenny then proceeded to explain about her 'friend' needing an E-merseU and that there was something she wanted to talk to him about, in person. "Ok, he said he will bring one over later today when he finishes up at work."

"It was really that easy?" Luna asked thinking it would take a little more convincing.

"Yes, why are you so suspicious?"

"No reason."

"Anyways, I think we should set some rules. I think the fact that you guys came form another world should remain a secret." Jenny said not sure how her uncle would react to this news.

"Hmmm, I can't make any promises. If I feel he has answers a certain way to certain questions, then I will be forced to reveal our origin."

"So, you're saying that if you think he has something to do with the problem plaquing the world of the gods, then you will ask him questions that will reveal yourself?" Jenny asked in disbelief.

"Exactly." Luna confirmed.

*sigh*

'Shit, she defiantly already suspects him so she was going to do so anyways…' Jenny thought, defeated.

"Hey, when are we going to talk about something that I can join in on the conversation?" Videl then complained.

"Don't worry, it's time for me to explain my plan and you are the biggest part of it." Luna said to Videl with an evil looking grin on her face.

Five hours later at around 9 p.m., the doorbell rang.

"He's here, please, go easy on him. I personally feel he knows nothing about what's happening to your world." Jenny said looking at Luna.

"We'll see." Smiling Luna then entered the crest on Videls hand. "Remember the plan Videl, say what I say and this will be easy."

After opening the door, Jenny was greeted by a middle-aged man with long blond hair in a ponytail. He was wearing a leather bikers' outfit and was holding a helmet under his left arm and a medium sized box under his other.

"Hey Uncle Marty." Jenny

"Well, if it isn't my favorite niece, how are ya doin?" Martin said "Oh, I assume this is your friend you were telling me about?"

It was at this moment that Jenny realized something. This was probably the first time she had met with her uncle in real life without her cousin trailing right behind him.

"Yes, this is Videl. We um… you know… go to the same class. So, uhh… yea…" Jenny was starting to get nervous.

"Hi." Squeaked out Videl.

"Um, where is James?" Jenny asked.

"Oh, he fell asleep while working and I decided to let him keep sleeping. It sounded like you wanted to talk about something without him there anyways."

"Yes, I agree. It is probably better that he is not here for this. Come on in." Jenny then let him inside the apartment.
