Catching A Thief

"No!"

After Videl returned from her first day of searching for Familia members without any luck, she finally remembered something she forgot to do. She had forgotten to ask if she could stay with Tiana in her room instead of in the guest rooms.

As it was pretty late at the time, Tiana had already retired to her room and logged off. So, the girl with black hair was rolling on the ground in self-ridicule for letting such an important thing escape from her memory.

'Come on, just deal with it for tonight, we can use the guest room for now and then you can ask her tomorrow.' Luna said in an attempt to appease the despondent girl.

At this moment Videl suddenly had a heaven defying thought which instantly caused her thoughts to soar from the depths of depression to the highest reaches of bliss.

"Luna! Luna! I just remembered! We could just log out! They said Tiana had logged out, correct?" Videl began excitedly saying with quite the loud voice. "We can still be in the same room!"

Because logging out was something they never did on a regular basis, they had indeed forgotten about it. Not to mention the depressed thoughts Videl was having that clouded her mind while Luna was focused solely on trying to comfort Videl.

'Ok, lets do that then…' Luna was in disbelief at how quickly her mood changed.

Once they were in their guest room, Videl laid down on the bed and said the magic words she had said last time.

"Log out."

Then, just like last time, everything began to slowly turn black before Videl realized she was in the other world as there was once again an object on her head covering her face.

Jenny had just left the bathroom after taking a shower, already wearing her pajamas, to find Videl sitting up and taking off her E-merseU and sighed in relief.

"I'm glad, it wasn't till after I logged off that I realized I had forgotten to tell you to log off when you got back. You now have a body in this world you need to take care of you know." She said with a smile on her face.

Videl couldn't keep her eyes off that blinding smile. It also helped that if she looked any lower, she would lose the illusion in her mind that this was Tiana standing before her and not Jenny.

After quickly making all the preparation for bed, the two of them went to sleep in the same way they had the previous night, as well as, waking up the next morning the same way with Videl hugging Jenny in her sleep.

After a quick breakfast, Jenny headed out to attend her classes for the day while Videl and Luna logged back in to their world.

'Alright, let's get back to searching for some Familia members.' Was the first thing Luna said when they 'woke up' on the bed in their guest room.

"Okay!" The thought of becoming stronger so that she could help Tiana brought back her fighting spirit that had dwindled when she had to say goodbye to her earlier. When she left for her classes.

And so, Videl confidently strolled out of Tatsuya Mansion and once again headed to the city center. While traveling down the main central road, the two would watch street performers to see if their skills were worth scouting. However, most of them where only doing simple sleight of hand tricks that were not necessarily helpful for their Familia to have.

There was, however, one difference between today and yesterday. Today, there were multiple city folk that came up to them to talk.

"Oh, hello, you're Videl Lovelight, correct? How are you?"

"It's nice to have another 'Chosen One' in the city."

"We heard our city might be upgrading to a Kingdom soon thanks to your arrival!"

"Good luck with your Familia!"

Almost everyone knew about Videl after the Tatsuya Familia spent time yesterday spreading the information about her arrival in the city and how she was friends with their leader. And the main reason they were able to tell that it was her was due to the fact that her Familia crest on her arm emitted a light blue color. The color of a 'Chosen One'.

However, even with more people interacting with them than the previous day, they were still not having any luck.

It wasn't till they had turned around to head back towards the Tatsuya mansion after reaching the edge of the city that something happened. As they were approaching the section of the central road that had multiple different food stalls, Luna noticed a certain individual creeping slowly towards a melon bread stand.

Even though she was covered in dirt and mud and her cloths were in ruins, Luna could tell based off the aura she was emitting that she was strong.

'Hey, Videl, look at that girl over there.'

"Where?"

It was at this moment that the girl snatched up some melon bread and made a run for it. Of course, the stall owner immediately noticed and gave chase. Luna, on the other hand, made sure to keep a close eye on the girl's aura in order to track where she went even when she disappeared behind the buildings. She was amazed at how swift she was.

'Quick, block the alley way right in front of us!' Luna rushed to say after seeing where the girl's aura was headed.

"Okay!" Videl reacted without hesitation and as soon as she moved to the described location, Videl watched in shock as a girl crashed into her, knocking them both on the ground.

"Ugg… why did you tell me to do that…" Videl complained.

'Make sure you keep a hold of her. You need to make sure you do whatever you can to convince her to join our Familia.' was all Luna replied with.

Even though she was complaining, Videl still reached out and held onto one of the girl's wrists just as the stall owner final caught up.

"Oh, the new 'Chosen One'. Thank you for catching this thief!" he exclaimed.

Videl replied with the first thing that came to her mind, "Um, would you be willing to let her go if I pay for the melon bread in her stead?"

"Huh? Um… what about what she stole yesterday?" Surprised by what he was hearing, the stall owner also found himself limited on what he could think to say.

"I can pay for that as well." She did still have the money that she had originally planned to use for a place to stay. But with Tiana letting her use a guest room for free, she didn't need to use it.

After satisfying the melon bread stall owner, Videl looked at the filthy girl who had remained silent during the whole exchange.

"Have you stolen from any other stalls?" Videl asked her.

Because she was caught, Alexis decided to admit her wrong doings. And so, Videl led her around the different food stalls negotiating and paying for the estimated amount of food she had stolen.

"So, what's your name?" Videl asked after they had finished satisfying all the food stall owners.

"A… Alexis… miss…" Alexis replied very quietly.

"Do you live by yourself here in this city?" Videl continued.

"No… I am living with my sister…" Alexis decided to tell Videl about her sister as she had ended up helping her pay for all the food she had stolen.
