The Mysterious Man
( In the grassland )
'What do I do now?" Ray thought while looking at the man. He was shivering from fear right now.
The aura of this man could kill him anytime. Ray knew that he was at the mercy of this man right now.
'I hate this feeling, I hate this feeling of powerlessness' Ray thought while guilt took over his heart. He was ashamed of himself. He wanted power and he needed power if he wanted to survive in this world.
"Where do you think you are going?" the mysterious man asked Ray with a deadpan expression on his face.
'Fuck it, if I die, I die but I won't back out,' Ray thought while making up his mind and looked the man straight into his eyes. The look of fear vanished from his face. He was going to do what his father told him. He wasn't going to be afraid anymore.
Seeing this the mysterious man increased the pressure even more. Ray wasn't able to withstand it anymore and was forced to get on his knees.
'Who is this fucking bastard? What does he want with me?' Ray thought while blood started coming out of his mouth. He felt as if someone had put his insides inside a blender and made a paste out of it.
Even after seeing Ray cough blood the man didn't stop and continued to increase the pressure even more. Ray couldn't take it anymore. If it continued he could die in a few minutes.
After thinking for a while, he mustered some courage and said, "What do you want with me? Where am I?"
Seeing Ray able to speak even in such a situation surprised the man a bit. The force he was exerting right now was comparable to a B rank while Ray was just an F- rank.
"As expected of someone who has inherited the power of the ### #######," the man said while laughing. His voice echoed throughout the field.
Ray made a weird face after hearing what the man had said. He wasn't able to hear the last two words. It was a weird feeling as if he had heard it and at the same time, he hadn't. It felt as if his mind was rejecting that information. Whatever it was, it piqued Ray's interest.
After a while, the mysterious man stopped exerting pressure and Ray's body finally felt at ease but his mind was scared and anxious. Right now in front of him was a man who could squash him like a bug anytime. And he had no clue what his intentions were. He could either be a friend or foe but since Ray didn't know anyone in this world it was most likely the latter.
"I'll answer your second question first," the mysterious man said while looking at Ray. He was now sitting on a patch of tall grass. To be honest, he wasn't sitting, rather he was floating 10 cm above the ground like some ghost.
'How is he able to do that?' Ray thought while looking at the man. Such control over mana was something even an S rank would find hard to achieve.
"We are inside a mythical plane that connects all the users of the Piercing Heaven art. It's the spear art that you use as well and that's why you are here." the man said.
"So, how did I end up here," Ray questioned.
"It's because one needs at least 30% beginner-level mastery to get access to the mythical land. Now, whenever you sleep or meditate you'll find yourself here."
"So does that mean that I'll never be able to sleep?" Ray asked with a worried look on his face. His sleep was very important to him and how could he survive without sleeping? Even SS-rank heroes require sleep once in a while.
To this, the man replied, "Technically speaking you are still sleeping which means your body is still getting the rest but your subconscious mind is awake. The only difference between a normal person and you is that you are able to control your subconscious mind because of Heaven Piercing arts while they can't."
"So does that mean I can train even while I'm asleep," Ray questioned the man.
"Yes, you can and shouldn't you introduce yourself when you meet someone." The man said while looking at Ray. He was curious about Ray's name. He thought that Ray would tell him by himself but seemed like he had no plan of doing so.
So he was gonna make him spit it out. "Ray, that's my name," Ray said.
"What about the last name? What is it?" the man questioned Ray in a commanding tone. It seemed as if he was irritated by something.
"Bladefield is my last name," Ray said. As soon as the man heard this, he chuckled a bit and said in a low voice, "Apple doesn't fall far from the tree".
This went unnoticed by Ray as the voice was too low to be audible to him.
"Ok, let's cut to the chase. You are the third user of the Heaven Piercing art and I'll teach you how to use it properly." the man said while landing on the ground.
Hearing this Ray nodded. Who would miss the chance of getting taught by a SS rank person?
Ray's intuition told him that the man in front of him was definitely in the league of SS rank heroes.
Only a brain-dead person would refuse getting taught by a SS rank person.
Seeing Ray standing and smiling like a madman, the man got annoyed and said, "What are you waiting for, brat? Tell me your mastery in Heaven Piercing art."
'Did I make him angry?' Ray wondered while looking at the annoyed look on the man's face.
'Let's do what he's asking and even I am curious about my progress. It's been a while since I have checked my status.'
"Status," Ray murmured slowly.
