95 Chapter 95

"What do you think about it then?"

I held my chin, "It sounds interesting. I would like to participate but I have to check in with my manager first before accepting anything."

"Oh, yeah. Totally. I wasn't expecting you to sign any documents today. Just needed to chat a little with you about the series and see what you thought about it."

I nodded, "Anyway, who will be the leads?"

"Female lead will be Ann Oliver, the male lead will be George Bishop, and the antagonist will be Dwight Roads."

Though I did take some modern culture classes with Blake, I did not recognize the names.

I still had many movies to watch before I began to recognize other actors apart from the mainstream ones.

She waited for my reaction, anticipating my surprise.

Unwilling to disappoint her, I pretended to be astonished by the names. "Oh, big names this time, huh?"

She grinned triumphantly at my expression, "That's correct." She reached into a bag and took out a stack of papers.

"This will be a preview of the script, you can have a look these few days and see if you like the character. If you do, send me a message and we can then have a formal meeting with other directors and sign your contract." She had a business smile and reached forward to hand me the documents.

Skimming through the script, I first encountered a short introduction of each character.

Katie Park — Half Korean, half American. Having studied in Korea, she is a smart transfer student heading to America for 2 years. She is intimidated by the prestigious ranking of the college and one of her main motivations is her little brother who is being treated in an American hospital.

Adrian Waters — A smart young man, he is a language enthusiast very eager to learn Korean. He uses a chat app to talk to other Koreans and practice his skills.

Edd Khan — A devilish playboy who suddenly has his heart stolen. Vowing to treasure his first love, he abandons his tendencies to court and hopefully marry her.

To be honest, I was a little confused at the start because I thought I was going to be the Asian little brother of a white girl.

So even though Ann Oliver is an English name, I believe the actor is Asian then?

Myung Park (Park Myung) — Katie Park's younger brother. He suffers from a disease whose cure is still unknown. He was sent to America to be treated at an advanced hospital.

…Okay.

I skipped over to look at some of my lines.

I frowned and looked up at Melanie.

She had a brilliant smile on her face as she knew exactly what my question was.

I looked at my lines again.

"Uh… all of my lines are just action lines…"

"Mhm…" She nodded, with stars in her eyes.

"...Most actions lines just say [Tranquil sleeping (coma)]..."

"Yes?"

"..."

"..."

"I see. Very interesting."

"Are there any other questions?"

I flipped past a few pages to see if my sleeping would last the entire series but past a few pages I finally started speaking.

My lines were short and succinct.

I had to act very innocently. I am a kid whose mental age is not my age because I have been in a coma.

In other words, I would be a victim of mommy-fans.

I sweat dropped.

I hope two years pass by quickly so that I can have a more mature role.

"Interesting."

"Alright, well, are there any other questions?"

"No, not for now. I will," I flapped the documents in my hand, "—take this script and see how well I can get into character. The premise is interesting and I have no doubt it'll be successful with your reputation and skill. I'll confirm with my manager."

She grinned. "Alright." She extended her hand and I shook it.

"By the way," she spoke as I prepared to leave.

"Yes?"

"Can I… uh. Can you give me a ride on the motorcycle?" she asked with a mixture of confidence and timidness.

I tilted my head, "Of course."

"Nice! You know, I just need to experience being on a motorcycle to think of some good motorcycle shots."

I nodded. "That's actually a smart idea. Then," I took my motorcycle helmet and handed it to her, "You don't mind if we go fast?"

Her eyes sparkled with stars as she held the helmet in her hands.

"Any destination in mind?"

"No!! Maybe the highway so that you can go really fast…"

The young but already successful Director looked up at me with uncontained excitement. "Let's go!!"

The waitress looked at us with a smile.

"Alexandra, I'll be back in a few."

"No worries Melanie. Have a lot of fun."

"Hmm? What is the meaning of this smile?"

"?"

"You know, as a Film director I have lots of experience with body language. It's part of my job to analyze body language for a successful film. Tell me, what thoughts are hidden under that smile?"

The waitress laughed. "Don't worry about it, have fun, Melanie." Alexandra sent me a knowing smile, though I had no clue what that smile meant.

Melanie looked at me, and I shrugged in confusion.

I looked down at the fluffy cats cutely pawing at my shoes.

[Charlie: Blake.]

[Blake: ?]

[Charlie: How's your vacation going?]

[Blake: Good good]

[Blake sent 1 attachment]

He sent an image where he was at the beach holding up a tropical coconut cocktail.

I smiled.

[Charlie: Awesome]

[Blake: Anyway what's up?]

[Charlie: I had a talk with Melanie Vazquez and she wants me to act for a new series]

The message was sent and I waited for a response with the 'Seen' checkmarks in the chat.

[Charlie: Yo?]

The message was still in checkmarks.

Suddenly, my phone began vibrating.

[Incoming voice call from Blake]

["CHARLIE!"]

"Hey, hey. What's going on?"

["You made me spit my drink all over myself, damnit."]

"...Was it surprising?"

["Bastard. Of course it is. You can't just drop a bomb on me like that."]

I laughed. "Sorry, sorry. I still don't think it's my fault, but tell me what's your opinion."

["If you don't sign that contract, I will cut my vacation short this instant, go to your house and drag you like a rat to Melanie's doorstep to bow to her."]

I sweatdropped. "Uh. Okay."

["Good. What is it anyway?"] He heaved a sigh of relief and lowered his intensity.

"It's a romance series and I am going to be the female lead's younger brother."

["Great. Now you're going to have a bigger female fanbase."] He complained jokingly, but I could hear the happiness for me in his voice.

"Alright, nice. Should I send you a script or anything?"

["Sure. I'll look at it at night and tell you my thoughts."]

"You sure? I don't want you to think of work during your vacation."

["Do it, dude. I want to read it. To be honest I've been a little bored and need a little work to clear my mind."]

"Alright. Thanks, Blake."

["No problem Charlie."]

"Have fun at the beach. Bye."

["Send me that script. See you."]

"Sure, bye." I hung up the call.

"You guys sound like boyfriends."

I threw a slipper at bzoomster who appeared out of nowhere.

Anyway, seeing Blake's reaction, it must be a very good opportunity for me.

I won't complain about the role, because the lines are easy and with my skills and perks, I shouldn't have much issue.

I'm a little nervous about expanding my reach into the movie industry, as music has just barely gained a stable foothold evolving from cafe piano performances to actual album releases.

Modeling and streaming have been my most stable jobs so far.

Speaking of streaming, Matt, or bzoomster asked me for permission to stream with my setup.

Of course, now he's having fun streaming on my channel and doing activities with my viewers.

Fortunately, I got this new apartment with thick walls. His loud and raucous voice would not be bothering my parents or neighbors…

The funny thing is, he was working for me for free because the donations were still going into my account. A little compensation for staying at my home.

Just kidding. I'm not that cheap.

These past two hours I've just been looking at the script.

I would certainly agree to this job, and since it would be my first, I had to make a good impression.

One of the requirements to make a good impression is to be hard-working and be willing. So learning my lines as quickly as possible meant that I'd be on the right track.

Since it was a series, this also meant that production and lines for actors were more spaced.

What this meant was that no one would learn all their lines on the first day. Not to mention the occasional line changes, the rehearsing, the improvisations, and the off-line actions.

Still, I memorized all the lines.

Of course, what I was doing would be unreasonable. That would be, if I didn't have my enhanced body and mind and perks that allowed me to learn everything faster with a higher degree of focus.

I'm a cheater that can learn lines in under one day. Bite me.

Anyway, I hadn't looked at my stats for a long time now. It wouldn't be bad to take a look at what I unlocked after opening the other achievement egg.

[Title: Trending, Hot Topic!, Streamer

Silver Pearl → Gold Pearl

Stats:

Luck: * *

Intelligence: 16

Charm: 12]

What the gold-tier version of the pearl did was give me access to gold points, which counted as 20 achievement points each.

I received perks like:

Greater Music Composition,

Greater Awareness,

Greater Body Sensitivity,

Greater Presence.

Some spoke for themselves, but the greater body sensitivity allowed me a higher degree of control over my body's slight and minute actions.

Presence gave me a better room presence, highlighting my being at a glance. This was especially helpful when I was in rooms with other people.

It's also a great helper when getting to know others because if you have a presence, then people will be interested in you.

I was getting rich in achievement points and I was able to afford two more stat points.

Of course, one stat point should by, obligation, be put into luck.

The thing was overpowered.

I would hold off on the last stat point before making any decision.

I was itching to put it into intelligence as the feeling of breaking mental restrictions and gaining clarity was too addictive.

Still, I did not know if I might have to use it for charm in case there was an important event. Perhaps I'd need it for my acting career, to finally evolve from a handsome idol look to an Adonis movie star.

Being next to good-looking people diminished your good looks. To stand out even when next to other handsome people, I would need a greater edge over them.

For this, the system was my friend.

"So yeah, I murdered Charlie and am now stealing his channel. Are there any other questions?"

Hearing Matt's words echo across the room, I had an idea.

Using my greater body sensitivity and degree of control over my body, I made a wretched ghost face and walked into the room.

He was facing away from the door and I sneaked up on him.

[Chat:

@bzoomster look behind you man]

"AGHH MOMMY!"
