The chair swung back and forth, with each swing a crack sounding through. The figure in the chair stared outside his window, where only darkness could be seen, and whispered softly: ‘There was once a ravenous creature that stood powerful, dominating all and immortal for as long as it stayed inside its prison. The cold and silent walls of the prison reached as far as the eye could see, icy cold to the touch and impossible to climb. ‘One day the creature saw his prison crumble, making it possible to escape. However, it remained inside.’ Then the figure turned and stared across it with unmoving eyes. ‘Why is that?’

After a while Angel grew disinterested in looking at the bow so he stood up and decided to go outside.

The mist was chilly, and as the Thread of Chill was not yet completely woven into Angel's foundation, he still felt cold, especially since he had gotten more used to the warm temperatures of the library or the city which had the screen above it.

After a while he got bored and headed back, where he saw Hou'yi holding his notebook in his hands, a slight frown on his face.

'Angel, may I talk to you?' Hou'yi's eyes seemed distant as he stared into the mist. 'Away from here.' His eyes swivelling round, he glanced at the temple, then back again. 'In the city, perhaps?'

Angel shook his head. 'I would prefer to stay here instead.'

Hou'yi nodded his head, smiling. 'That is acceptable.' He paused, then sat down on the steps of the temple, still smiling. 'Do sit down, Angel.'

Angel went inside the Temple of Sky to retrieve a blanket which he wrapped around his robes. 'What do you want to talk about?'

'Angel, the majority of this discussion shall consist of having questions asked of you.'

Angel nodded.

Hou'yi paused slightly again, a strange look coming into his eyes. 'When did your parents die, if you do not mind me asking?'

'When I was two.'

'They were both ones of Sky, correct?'

'Yes.'

'They died because of an invasion of the creatures of the depths?'

Angel shook his head.

Hou'yi exhaled quietly. 'They had pale blond hair as yours and black eyes, correct?'

'Yes.'

'Are you aware of the reasons for your parents' deaths?'

'No.'

'If you don't mind me asking, what do you know of the Prophecy of the Five Ancient?'

Angel's brain whirled quickly, his thoughts and memories organising in under a second. 'Three bled, live and fought, their wounds going to the bone

'And so three lived, until they met a great enemy

'And their battle covered the skies and earths

'Continuous for as long as the world lived,

'And so was life before fifth was seen,

'So four reunited to meet the fifth

'And rose from the shallows many

'Who did law at the order of five

'And one rejoiced for the mourning.'

'I see.' Hou'yi looked slightly wary, although Angel wasn't sure why. 'And if I may ask for your opinion on it?'

Angel reached out a hand, and seeing Hou'yi's confused expression, he said: 'My notebook has some information which I can utilise inside.'

'Oh. I see.' Hou'yi then proceeded to pass over the notebook.

Angel flipped through its pages, reaching one on which he had written the Prophecy of the Five Ancients. 'The prophecy only shows four of the five people it is meant to tell. On line one it introduces three, and on line fifth it introduces another one, making it four. However, on line five it also states 'four' instead of 'three. And although the prophecy sounds complete, it is most likely not. Prophecies have also in all cases of any being recorded since AC-I been slightly longer or much longer. This points towards the prophecy most likely being incomplete, with the missing parts vanishing because of time.'

Hou'yi said 'I see,' then asked: 'Where did you grow up if your parents died?'

'The Cathedral of Hope.' Angel looked slightly discomforted when he mentioned it. 'All the land outside of the city on this side of Stone all belong to the cathedral.'

Suddenly Hou'yi stood up. 'Thank you for your time, Angel. If you would please allow me to further read your notebook?'

Angel frowned slightly but handed it back. 'Can you give it back to me by tomorrow at the latest?'

Hou'yi smiled. 'That is almost guaranteed.' Then he walked into the mist and Angel saw him vanish from view.

After doing some more light reading on threads, Angel put the book aside and prayed.

'Being of the Nights and Days, bring us freedom

'Forgive our forefathers and the evils of the Day

'Here in Stone, we beseech you to set us free from the horrors of the world

'We bless you and plead for you to set us free

'Forgive us

A chill seemed to spread throughout the temple as Angel shivered violently, then bundled himself up in more blankets before allowing his head to drop onto the cushions.
