A Knight's Duty

Inside the Mathers Mansion, specifically Emilia's bedroom, she could be seen hugging a pillow while she was seemingly pondering about something.

'Then let me be her knight!'

'Why did he say that...'

Emilia was pondering the request Chris had made with Roswaal and she couldn't help but question why he wanted to be her knight, they had only known each other for a single day yet his words seemed so confident and it isn't adding that fact that he smiled at her after his declaration.

'Does he like me!?'

"No thay definitely cant be it-"

*BOOOOM!!!!!!*

But before Emilia could girl out and clutch her pillow even more while thinking about embarrassing things, she and the other residents of the Mansion heard a loud explosion coming from outside.

They all had different reactions, Emilia from her window seeing how the explosion came from where Chris was rushed out of her room praying that he was safe. Roswaal who was in his office with Ram sitting on his lap both watched as Chris fought off the mabeast, while Rem who was making sure everything was in order before going to bed heard the explosion and went outside to see Chris stabbing a Mabeast with a knife.

Meanwhile Beatrice who heard the explosion from her library could care less but nonetheless she went outside of the library to look out the window to see the source of all the noise.

*VAAAAM!!!!*

Chris fired another Blaster towards a group of Mabeast reducing them to ash as he grabbed another one by it's head before slamming it with another.

*Ting!*

His eyes lit up for a brief second and for what seemed to be an instant all the present Mabeast were instantly torn to shredds as Chris was now further in the horde.

"All of you are really annoying."

Chris blankly stated as he slammed his palms on the ground causing it to crack before turning bright red,he looked to see the 'Puppy' Meili was carrying earlier far in the distance.

"I guess I should say it as I'm using it..."

The ground flew brighter as he stood up before appearing far from the glowing red groud, before flicking his red knife.

"Welcome to my special hell."

*BOOOOOOM!!!!!*

Anything within the range of the explosion was seemingly covered in a red aura before in the next second the trees and ground were being engulfed in red flames, the explosion thankfully was controlled by Chris to not cause any damage to the Manor but for a good amount of Distance it was pure destruction but the radius wasn't strong enough to effect the village as it was a 15 minute walk away.

But Rem and Emilia who saw the explosion were shocked to see the amount of power Chris had, and speaking of Chris he may have killed the horde of Mabeast but there was still the alpha and Meili left and he wasn't sure if Meili had captured the other kids like the events in the original plot.

"Huff... Huff... A bit tired but I can go on."

Using the signature skill of Glitchtale Chara took a bit out of him, but he still had enough to kill the alpha which had finished it's transformation and started charging towards Chris.

As it got closer Emilia started running towards Chris followed by Rem screaming for him to move yet he didn't, Meili who was watching from the eyes of the Alpha started to smirk thinking that he had exhausted Chris. But as the Alpha was about to bite Chris his eyes glew a brighter red.

"Dumbass."

Chris dodge it's bite before kicking it right in the jaw sending it flying before he appeared right above it.

He then proceeded to slam it back to the ground before stabbing it's chest before flinging it back further into the now destroyed path.

As it waw being flung it was able land back into an upright position before looking at Chris with malice, but what it failed to notice was that red strings were attached to each of its limbs.

"Up you go!"

Chris pulled the Alpha in a way that it started going up and as it did a different button appeared floating just below Chris's left hand.

Chris appeared back in the air as he caught the Mabeast before holding It as they both started to fall to the ground while rapidly spinning, but as they were both about to crashed into the ground the load button appeared right next to Chris.

He appeared back safely at the ground catching the Mabeast with a red spear he used to impale it through its chest and by how fast it was going was immediately killed as the floor below Chris cracked due to the force.

Chris this time reappeared right infront of the gate to greet Rem and Emilia with a smile.

"So, why are you two up?"

Currently Chris can save around 8 times and he could overwrite those saves by subconsciously saving at the located save file.

The following day Roswaal was able to regrow the trees that were burnt by Chris during his battle with the Mabeast, in the village the children went missing for a few hours until the villagers were able to find them except one of them being Meili which they suspected was killed by the Mabeast but for Chris he knew that she had probably ran away out of fear as he had not only killed Elsa easily but taken down her army of Mabeast.

It was only the second day but he had just finished the starting point the anime so the only thing he could do was act as the Knight and Guard of Emilia, and speaking of Emilia she had repaired the barrier surrounding the village giving her some good merit with the villagers and was now talking to the spirits in the garden as Chris watched over her.

The leaves were starting to turn orange as fall was starting and only a few more weeks before winter so the twins had started preserving the meat he had gotten from the village, but now as Chris watched over Emilia he had noticed how some of the spirits were bothering him. He didn't hear them speak but instead felt their emotions their were many types of spirits present but red ones were more abundant as he was more proficient in using Fire Magic, which he was honestly curios about as in this world Fire Magic meant being able to not only produce flames but as well as Ice.

Soon enough after her 'Talk' with the spirits she had opened her eyes and was excited to see the spirits surrounding Chris, Chris who noticed couldn't help curse at himself for remembering the fact that Emilia was overly close with almost any spirit arts user.

"The lesser spirits seem to like you a lot Chris"

Emilia giggled as she saw msot of the spirits trying to get closer to Chris but fail as little red barriers were stopping them from doing so, Puck who saw this couldn't help but express a teasing face before leaping towards Chris who instinctively casted another shield made out of his DT(Determination) causing Puck to slam his little face at it.

"Yeouch!!"

Due to how fast Puck was launching himself towards Chris and not expecting for the barrier to appear so suddenly, the result was now he had a small bump on his forehead Emilia who saw this couldn't help but giggle while Chris just looked at Puck with his tongue slightly out.

"Lia~~!!"

Puck floated towards Emilia while rubbing his bump, Emilia continued to giggle but notice how Chris who was once leaning against the wall had now disappeared. While the Spirits who were surrounding earlier started to become saddened by his disappearance.

"I wonder where he went off to.."

[Meanwhile in one of the many hallways of the Mansion]

Chris had seemingly appeared out of what seemed to be thin air as he had proceeded to load a save file he had placed early in the morning.

'Now that I'm Lvl 12 I should start learning actual magic instead of relying on my stamina and SOUL magic...'

Chris at first thought about asking Roswaal to teach him magic but he didn't want to owe a favor with the maniac, so he settled for the next best thing which was to hopefully be lucky enough to open a door to the forbidden library.

He looked towards the double door in front of him and as he was about to push it open a familiar voice stopped him from doing so.

"Chris?"

He turned to see Rem with what seems to be a tray of Pancakes with butter and syrup already placed on top while different types of berries were inside a small bown on the side.

"Good Morning Rem."

Chris greeted her with a smile putting up his act infront of the Maid.

"I thought you were accompanying Lady Emilia with her morning chat with the spirits?"

Despite it being the second day it was still early in the morning specifically around 9 AM but in this world would 9 Solartime.

"Are you bringing Lord Roswaal breakfast?"

Despite being Emilia's Knight he would still need to address Roswaal as Lord and Emilia herself as Lady in public, and despite Rem and Ram being the only two servants of the Mansion their hearing is do good to the point they had heard him quietly curse when he had accidentally stubbed his toe in one of the tables as they were in the kitchen while he himself was in the far side of the dining room.

"U-Uhm no, you see I had notice how you weren't able to eat breakfast earlier with me and my sister so I had actually made this for you..."

It was normal for Rem and Ram to eat either before or after Emilia and Roswaal as they were servant's, but Chris hadn't eaten breakfast due to the fact he was busy with killing the remaining mabeast in the forest all night.

"Honestly Rem you didn't have to do that"

"N-No! It's my pleasure you had not only protected the Mansion from the huge numbers of Mabeast but after the battle after being tired you still helped the Villagers to look for the missing children it's the least I could do!"

"Then thank you for taking your time to make this for me!"

Chris grabbed the tray from Rem before taking a close look at the pancakes and knew they were freshly made due to it's pleasant scent, but before he could push the door open to see if it was actually the forbidden library behind him Rem spoke up.

"About what you said about Oni's yesterday, did you mean it?"

Hearing Rem's question Chris couldn't help but tug a small smile as he looked at her one last time.

"Yes I wouldn't mind befriending an Oni like you"

"T-That's not what I meant!"

Rem couldn't help but speak out but Chris who saw this only smirked before pushing the door open, and on the other side was a Blonde haired Loli looking at him with angered expression.

"How did you get in here I suppose!"

Chris may be a psycho who wouldn't hesitate to kill a child but he is still Human, as he could have left the children for dead in the forest but instead he helped find them. His point of view in life is quite messed up as for him no matter what terrible thing he would do it wouldn't matter as at the end of the day he could still RESET.

But he does try to be good

Chris sat on the ground with his legs crossed as he began eating the pancakes Rem had made for him, he could only question the girls state of mind to trust a total stranger she had only met for 2 days. But who was he to judge when he would kill anyone for EXP, the words of the caretaker of the orphanage suddenly came to his mind.

'Try to be good?, how the hell am I going to do that'

"Remove this barrier so I can take a certain amount of your mana I suppose!"

Beatrice could be seen struggling to remove the red DT barrier that was protecting Chris from her, she couldn't cast any type of magic as she would risk damaging the books of her beloved mother. So right now she was trying to destroy Chris's barrier with reinforcing her small body with Mana.

'Hmm, A Guide to Goa.'

Looking at one of the many books in the shelves a specific book caught his attention, specifically one that thought the user on how to utilize Goa also known as Fire magic as well as on how to change the temperature with it.

'This is a good start'

Chris looked at the book but couldn't help but look at Beatrice who was slamming her tiny fist at the barrier.

"Let go of that book!"

Chris sighed before dispelling the barrier causing Beatrice to stumble face first to ground, he crouched as he looked down on her with a smirk.

"The name's Chris, nice to meet ya"

"Betty finds you annoying!"

And with that the Psychopath and the old Loli 'Formally' met.
