11 Make haste into the night!

"Indeed you are cursed." Beatrice tells me as she takes her hand off my forehead. "But I don't understand how you could have possibly knew this."
Looking down at my hand I trace the bite marks with my finger.
"I got bit by a pup in the village near the mansion." I then frown. "I had a suspicion that something was wrong and came to check with you."
"Well, that would mean it was a demon beast." To which she then continues. "Then that also would mean that the villages barrier is broken."
I then force my facial features take a serious look.
"Then if you excuse me I must go Beatrice." But as I place my hand on the door I ask. "But would It be ok to call you Betty in the future?"
"Tsk, it doesn't sound displeasing I suppose." Beatrice clicks as she turns to sort some books. "But don't assume I'll help you whenever you need be."
"I understand Betty." Then with a twist of my hand I open the door.
...
"May I ask where you are going Suburu?" Rem asks as she catches me at the entrance to the mansion.
"Indeed, you look more suspicious than usual." Ram rings out.
"Well I believe that the village's barrier has been broken." I then continue quickly when I notice Rem's stern look. "Beatrice confirmed that I was cursed and the village was where I got the curse."
Taking a good look at the twins I notice Ram's lack of reaction. She probably already knows about Roswaal's scheme. Rem however was never told about this.
"Rem can you come help me with this?" I then ask showing my lack of a weapon. "I don't have any weapons and the forest outside of the village is teeming with demon beasts."
"Seemingly on how there is no other way, I will accompany you." Rem states calmly.
...
"Why exactly do you want to follow me in Suburu?" Rem asks me as we stand outside of the forest. "Did you not say you are a person who won't risk their life for others stupidly?"
Hearing this I shoot her a glance. "And I also told you that I find a friends death 'displeasing'."
"That selfishness of yours truly is displeasing."
And with that we rush into the forest together.
We spent about 5 minutes just blindly searching until we finally made it into a clearing. And as we looked onto the hill, we could see 5 silhouettes bathed in moonlight.
"The children are her Rem." I say calmly to her. "However I don't see Arthur and the purple girl."
Rem having an idea of what I mean to do just sighs. "Go ahead Suburu, I'll make sure to take them."
"Good, make sure to ask Beatrice to check them for curses."
And with that I look for any tracks and see human tracks running off into the forest. With an general idea of where they could have gone I put my guard up and rush in that direction.
...
Pretty soon I can make out the sounds of beasts fighting in the distance. With this I quickly pick up speed. When I finally come to a clearing I see a small figure surrounded by 4 dead wolves. And a group of 3 can be seen circling him looking for any signs of weakness.
I also take notice of a small and petite girl 'unconscious' to the side.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!" A guttural yell then rings out. "Come at me you filthy mutts!"
Sensing the humans impatience a wolf from behind lunges towards his neck. And sensing this movement the human merely ducks and slashes at the wolves underside. However another wolf lunges at him.
*smack*
Seeing his situation I quickly rush out and kick the wolf away.
"Hahaha!" I then laugh aloud. "I'm glad to see your still kicking Arthur, but you owe me now!"
Arthur now seeing me smiles and cries. "I'm sorry Suburu, I couldn't save them."
"Don't worry about them, we found them." I say to reassure him. "Your beat, take a rest I got this."
Arthur hearing this has a look of relief as he loses his grip on his sword and faints. I then quickly pick up both him and his sword and sit him against a tree. Now with my back to him I turn to the wolves in front of me.
The first wolf lunges towards me only to give up it's head to my blade. The second wolf noticing this keeps it distance to me before it starts howling.
Noticing this I quickly launch towards it and swung. The wolf never had a chance to react as the sword cut through its neck like butter.
"Woah this sword is extremely sharp!" I exclaim to myself as I take a good look at it."
*rustle rustle rustle rustle*
A series of rustles then sound out through the forest. Hearing this I can't help but pay close attention to my surroundings.
To think that the wolf was calling out for its friends. The wolves can then be seen creeping out into the opening.
"Damn it!" I curse under my breath. "Just how fertile are you guys!"
There are like 15 of these guys! And I know there is only more to come!
"Well at least they aren't the bowel hunter ." I bitterly reassure myself. Noticing my turmoil of emotions I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
My body then unconsciously gets into a desirable stance. Everything is fading now, the sounds in the forest, the beautiful night sky, the person behind me. They have now become quiet to me. All I can see is the 15 enemies in front of me.
I then take a deep breathe and grip the sword tightly in my hand.
"COME!"
Then the wolves in front of me burst forward. A group of 3 all lunge at me trying to take me off balance. I merely step back and will a shamac spell I hid inside my sleeve to detonate in front of me. And taking advantage of this I slice all of their heads off quickly.

*snarl*
Hearing this I quickly roll to my right and send another shamac to my left. 'Feeling' the impact of my spell I quickly kill the wolf that landed awkwardly on the ground beside me.

I then turn back to the 9 remaining wolves. Wait 9! Quickly turning around I slash at another wolf. Slaying it I see another one use its brothers corpse as a spring board. Taking advantage of its leap I lean forwards and place my sword to my side. Focusing entirely on the wolf I feel time slowing down as I take note of the distance.
"NOW IT'S 6!"
I then quickly throw my blade forward and Slice through its weak underside. And without any time to breathe I hear the remaining 9 rushing towards me. In reaction I throw out 3 separate shamac's and make them explode on the ground in front of them. This effectively makes all of them lose their senses.
Once I see this I take note of the 10 seconds I have to kill them. Rushing forward I decapitated 3 of them before giving myself distance.
"9."
Now with their senses regained the 6 remaining wolves spend some time to regain their senses. I quickly take my time to regain my breath.
"Shamac." I whisper as I fill my sleeves.
3 of the wolves then rush towards me as the others rush around me trying to incircle me. Noticing this I rush towards the wolves in front of me and throw another shamac at them. Now knowing the danger of this spell they dodge. But I quickly will it to slam into the ground hitting them all.
I then quickly take care of them as I turn towards the remaining 3. One of them leaps towards me as the other two run around to my sides. Noticing this attempt to inclose me I roll under the wolf in front of me. And send a shamac into the 3.

A slice through the neck.

Another head rolls.
"15"
The final one is dead.
Quickly taking in my surroundings I notice that the countless heads on the ground. I take notice of the blood soaking into the grass painting the once green now crimson. I smell the metallic smell permeating into the air.
"I should probably get moving."
Picking up Arthur over my shoulder I can't help but groan in pain. I can feel my muscles screech and my bones crack. I then take the sword sheath it. And with the sword in hand and Arthur over my shoulder I make my way over to the little girl.
And as I take knee I lean into her ear.
"I'd go ahead and disappear. I'm going to need you one day after all. And I don't want to kill you."
The little girl's eyes then shoot open and the innocent looking girl is no where to be seen. Instead a look of madness is present inside her eyes.
"YEAH RIGHT! YOU KILLED BIG SIS ELSA!"
The little girl then rolls over and runs towards the clearing. And getting bad feeling I quickly bolt in the way from which I came. And taking a look back over my shoulder I can't help but speed up.
*ROOOAAAAAARRRR*
A hulking beast can now be found DIRECTLY behind me!
