A Moment Like This

When we returned, the sky was already getting dark. It was because, after he brought me to the underground lake, we kind of explored the cave for a while before completely giving up on it. I wasn't really dressed for that occasion.

We also rested at the manor and ate snacks to replenish our energy before going back.

Nathan was in my room when we came in. He was frowning deeply as he looked at us, obviously not happy that we disappeared unannounced.

"You should have informed us that the two of you would be leaving."

Uh-oh.

I could feel how angry he was. It was radiating all over his body.

"Then that wouldn't be sneaking off now, would it?" Lukas replied in nonchalance.

That attitude and his response ticked my brother off.

"It is dangerous for my sister to be out there without escorts."

"I could protect her on my own."

"You wouldn't know that. What would happen if you got ambushed again?"
