350 Chapter 350: Ghosts (7)

Leilah POV

"I'm not saying we should turn against Perseus, but we must tread cautiously. We should seek answers, and understand the visions that have haunted both him and me. We can't afford to ignore the possibility that there's more at play here than meets the eye." he said, "Both God and I saw the same vision, which means that this timeline is very likely."

"That's your reason?"

"Yes, when two gods share a vision, it signifies a convergence of possibilities, a convergence that holds great significance. But even if it is not a guarantee, I do like like to risk my chances, so I'll tell you a couple of vital information."

The rational part of me understands the gravity of the situation, and why they think that Perseus' goals shouldn't be prioritized since he may be the calamity. But there's a numbness in me that refuses to let me fully embrace the fear and urgency of my father's warning.

I didn't care if my boyfriend was going to be some calamity that they feared, I have known him for a long time, and that includes him in his darkest moments. God and Dad don't know him enough to trust him, and I couldn't care less about the prophecy.

Perseus POV

Due to the lack of personnel during the break, at night...or well according to the clock, it was night, the facility made us lose sense of time. The dimly lit corridors created an otherworldly atmosphere that distorted the boundaries between day and night.

The reason for this disorientation was clear, the company thrived on secrecy, and what better way to conceal their nefarious activities than by keeping their employees perpetually in the dark, both literally and figuratively?

It was easy to lose track of hours and days, and the concept of time became a surreal abstraction. And at night, we were moved to the lower floors along with a lot of the projects and now it's more concentrated down here. The staff was more cautious though, since there are now talks of ghosts infiltrating this facility.

Can't believe that Dawn and I are called 'ghosts' now, but due to that and our earlier attack, we found out that there were people in security who spread the rumor that their security is keeping eyes on the shadows as when we sunk into the shadows last time, the shadows move more than usual, so they got AI cameras to detect weird shadow movements.

I slipped past the heightened security measures and the whispers of paranoia among the company's employees are now serving as a cover as they are so tensed and barely moved from their spots.

The facility's layout had changed since my last visit, making navigation more challenging. But I couldn't care less as Ruka and I slipped down to the lower floors and started to release as many experiments as we could while killing a lot of the guards along the way.

I used my magic pistol and with a silencer, the soft hiss of my silenced pistol was a whisper in the darkness as I executed people left and right.

|Hopefully, soft hiss is an actual phrase, and I just want to say, why is the say 'me and x' grammatically wrong? I get that the term 'x and I' is more correct, but the earlier phrase has been used so much more than the latter, they should make it legally grammatically correct due to that or something.|

But the closer I got to the lower floors, the more heavily armed resistance I encountered. It was a testament to the value they placed on their darkest secrets. I took some pictures and recording, but I don't know if it's going to mean much since it also includes victims of my own doing.

With each locked door I breached, I found more prisoners, their hollow eyes reflecting the torment they had endured. The lower the floors, the worse it was, and due to their now more advanced technologies, some are suffering worse than what I've experienced.

The sight of those suffering souls, trapped in this hellish nightmare only fueled me further. I couldn't allow this atrocity to persist any longer as this place held secrets that would expose the company's darkest deeds, I can't waste this chance.

But time was running out. The facility's alarms blared in the distance, signaling that my work had been found, but we didn't rush back, the dozens and hundreds of projects running around should cause enough chaos that it'll be harder to find us.

The prisoners, once subjected to the company's malevolent experiments, were no longer helpless victims. Their newfound freedom had ignited a fire within them, and they scattered like a horde of vengeful spirits, disrupting the facility's personnel.

Then, Ruka said that she detected the presence of a god, and though it was not near, we quickened our pace and rushed with our mission to free the prisoners as the facility went into lockdown with their soldiers running through the corridors in search of intruders and eliminating the projects.

The deeper I ventured, the greater the risk became. The feeling of being watched intensified, and I could sense that my every move was being investigated. A noise, faint but unmistakable, echoed through the corridor, sending a chill down my spine. Someone was close, too close.

Is it Wrath? Or are they survivors of the Urgess household? Some of them do guard the lowest floors after all.

I pressed on, my footsteps echoing through the cold, empty halls. Panic clawed at my chest as I rounded a corner, and just when I thought I was alone, a voice called out to me from behind, this presence...it's a god, and I could already feel irritation climbing into my brain.

"Hey, you there! Stop right now!" he shouted

"Wrath..."

"Oh, you know my name." he said

I turned and saw this guy who looked like he was in his early 30s, he was about 187 cm tall, and he had red hair and red-colored eyes. It was like orangey and crimson kind of red, but that's not what's important.

He's about 100m behind us, but I don't need a genius to tell me that this guy is beyond our league.

"I sense mana...are you an Urgess traitor?" he asked, "Not that I care."
