9 Chaos At The City Border (2)

"Let's move, Lara!" Lee Han said.

After passing several empty cars, Lee Han finally saw three mutated, horribly disfigured, zombie-like Siberian Huskies with two abnormally large, sharp fangs appear behind the white van ten meters away from him.

His step abruptly stopped. He saw their tongues sticking out with saliva dripping, looking extremely rabid.

He was slightly stunned when their dark red eyes stared back at him as if they saw him as their delicious snack.

Lee Han didn't flinch, meeting their red eyes. He knew this low-level monster; he could quickly kill them with one bullet using his handgun.

His eyes beamed when his eyes fixed on five silver coins that appeared on top of their head.

'Let's do some farming!!' Lee Han silently muttered.

He was excited to gain coins because he was broke now. He has already spent all his coins buying storage space and needs coins to buy food. He is starving!

His assault rifle was still hanging on his back as he marched toward the canine with his handgun pointing at their head. For a second, he hesitated as he imagined the monsters were once beautiful huskies. But then, they charge at him.

Pop!

Pop!

Pop!

He stopped all three charging huskie monsters with just three shots in mere seconds. The three Siberian Huskies now lay lifeless on the street with black blood splashing around their disfigured body.

At the same time, he received a notification in his system.

"Not bad!! Fifteen silver coins. I will not starve tonight..." He chuckled.

"Master, there are a dozen monsters a few meters ahead," Lara's soft voice suddenly rang in his mind.

Lee Han turned his gaze to the road ahead but didn't spot anything. He only saw empty cars neatly parked in the middle of the road.

The more he walked forward, the closer the cars became. The road, designed for three-car lanes, had been forced into four-car lanes, and the bicycle lane on the side was now occupied by vehicles.

Finding a clear path was a challenge for Lee Han. This delayed his movement, and he wasn't too excited about it.

Having no choice, he climbed onto the car's hood, moving from one vehicle to another while activating his 'Divine Eyes' to find monsters.

However, he still hadn't spotted the monsters as Lara had said; there are a dozen. He quickened his step, not wanting to waste time.

Before long, Lee Han finally spotted the creatures in the distance.

A quick count showed only half a monster. They slept on the road under the orange sun while the others hid under cars.

The monsters remained unaware of him, granting Lee Han a few more minutes to prepare his assault rifle.

Half knee, Lee Han pointed his rifle toward the canine busking under the orange sun. Thanks to his divine eyes, he can see his target clearly, like the canine was a meter before him.

Just before Lee Han wanted to pull the trigger, his eyes landed on the coin above the canine monster's head.

Looking at the coin more than earlier, a smile slowly appears on his face. There are no longer five silver coins, but these dark brown Siberian huskies have twenty-five silver coins.

'Lara, the coin above these monster heads means their power, right?' He asked Lara to make sure.

'Yes, master. Be careful there's a powerful monster among them. They move extremely fast, and their bite and claws are deadly...'

'Roger that! Let's stay out of trouble and kill it while it sleeps,' Lee Han said.

Without hesitation, he pulled the trigger. Instantly, a sound like deafening thunder filled the air. The canine monster did not have time to open its eyes; his head was blown to pieces, and blood was splattered everywhere.

The monster died in just an instant.

"Wow!! Too much power! Again? What a waste. This rifle is too powerful to handle this weak monster. Gosh!" Lee Han mumbled while his eyes fixed on six pairs of red eyes staring at him.

He could feel his blood running cold even though he was twenty meters away from the monster before him. His hands held his rifle tighter.

'Did they see me? Why don't they move to attack me?' Lee Han asked Lara. He was confused.

Six large mutated Siberian huskies with bloodshot eyes should be running towards him now, like the previous three earlier. However, they didn't move at all; they looked relaxed.

'I'm not sure, Master.' Lara's answer made him start to feel uneasy.

'What do you—' Before Lee Han could finish his words, he saw another three canines heading in his direction with incredible speed, but they were crawling under the cars.

He was shocked beyond words, observing giant canine-like creatures crawling rapidly toward him with two gold coins above their heads.

'Master, they are the powerful ones. Eliminated them now!' Lara warned him after spotting them.

Lee Han didn't have time to respond to Lara. He jumped from the top of the car, landing on the ground smoothly. Creeping while aiming his rifle at the monsters, their distance narrowed to less than ten meters away from him.

After Lee Han set his target, he pulled the trigger, and the sound of a bullet leaving the riffle echoed in the air. He fired until the last monster canine's head blew, and it died on the spot.

Realizing he was still unsafe, Lee Han turned toward the other monsters.

"What the hell!!" He cursed when he saw the six creatures rapidly approaching him. Without time to stand on his feet, he pulled the trigger and shot until the last monster's head blew only two meters before him, and the dark blood splattered.

Lee Han was shocked when he heard a hissing sound was heard when the canine monster's blood hit the tires of the car right before his eyes.

"Fuck! That thing's blood contains acid!?" Lee Han was shocked. He immediately moves away from the ground while looking at the monster's blood damage to the car tires.

"Yes. Be careful; your skin could burn if it comes into contact with the monster's blood."

"Thanks, Lara, for the warning; you are indeed considered," Lee Han said sarcastically. "But, could you tell me before I see it for myself next time? You know, so I could keep a safe distance from that shit…" He said while locking his rifle and walking ahead.

"You are welcome, master..." Lara answered cheerfully, seemingly oblivious to Lee Han's sarcastic tone.

Lee Han could only chuckle, but he suddenly raised his fingers and started to count. Within seconds, his face slowly turned dark when he realized something.

"Lara, you said there were a dozen of the monsters?"

"Yes, I did."

"But, I only killed 10... where are the rest?" Lee Han asked while looking ahead. But he didn't find the other two.

Are they still far ahead? Or did they run away when they heard the sound of gunfire?

"Lara..Lara…Are you there?" Muttered Lee Han.

But Lara was silent.

"La…"

Before Lee Han can finish calling her, Lara's voice echoes in his mind!

'DAMN IT!! MA-MASTER... RUN!!!'
