RE: Hephaestus

Life is all about second chances. Not in every single aspect, of course, but we’re often granted a “re-do” without even realizing it. The truth is, some of us are given a lot more but instead of being grateful, we feel entitled. We take people for granted and become hateful when they finally refuse to forgive our mistakes over and over again. We’re only human, right? Everyone makes mistakes at some point. But when someone decides to forgive you and gives you another chance, you should grab it with both hands — because you might not get a third one We’re only human? Second chances don’t come around often? Well, it’s funny you mention that… ————————— This, as you will eventually learn, is an AU

Oizys Is Strong. Is It A Jetpack?

Honestly, I didn't know what I expected my traps would be able to do against a strong enemy like a Goddess; Hoping that it would at least serve as a good distraction, but not this powerful.

I was currently watching as this once terrifying enemy didn't look as intimidating anymore, grovelling on the ground, blood spilling from her mouth as she desperately pulled at the pole I had impaled into her throat.

"WHATH ISH THITH THITH THITH?!" She desperately screamed, "WHY DUTH THITH BURN SHO MUCH MUCH MUCH?!" Blood over flood her mouth, causing a minor struggle in communication.

"Well…the benefits of being a god of fire and metalworking," I told her slyly before whispering "έγκαυμα," causing the metal pipe to combust into sight of dashing flames.

A rapid feeling rests itself upon the Goddess like a bright lamp, lighting the void that she brought with her; She continues to suffer horrific pain for a few moments before screaming:

"ENOUGH ENOUGH ENOUGH!!!"

In a miraculous turn of events, the ground around her cracked and turned as the fire was extinguished swiftly; her figure suddenly appeared in front of me in a form of black and purple smoke.

She grabbed my jaw, clutching it tightly, causing it to crack slightly; I fought through the pain and pierced her armpit with the first form of my armlet.

She seems completely unfazed by this simple attack, confirming that if I wanted to do any harm to her, it would have to be through using my divine powers.

Unfortunately, that is something I do not know much about, and since I do not know anyone who is a fighter or has similar divinities to me, I have been left to my ideas.

The only way I could properly channel it was through the use of my crafts; Which is what I do with my traps, leaving a slight slice of my divinity in every creation to keep them available for operation forever.

So, when I removed the knife from her body and saw absolutely nothing, I decided to ignite it with my flames and try it again; Surprisingly, this Goddess had just blown heavily and snuffed out the fire, leaving my weapon to be harmless.

"THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN BEAT ME ME ME. DO YOU KNOW WHO MY FATHER IS IS IS?!" She screeched at me, hurting my eardrums from a close distance.

"What? Mother didn't tell you?" I retorted, causing her to throw me into the pyre I had built earlier.

"YOU DARE OFFEND THE MOTHER OF DARKNESS DARKNESS DARKNESS?! I AM OIZYS, AND I AM YOUR DEMISE DEMISE DEMISE!!!"

"What's the mother of darkness?" I asked, getting up from the ground, "I know I should know that title from somewhere…"

My question was met with the harsh whip of a chain across my chest, sending me into a small hill behind me.

I looked towards 'Oizys' to see her swinging her chains around, using them as weapons. I carefully assessed where they were, desperately dodging them as best I could.

She was extremely fast, myself having to depend on my knowledge of where I had placed my inventions to lead her into more places to distract her.

I eventually led her over near a river; A multitude of my traps had set off, starting with a bright column of fire bursting from the ground. Then, a bear trap revealed itself from the ground, and clutch ferociously onto Oizys' leg.

"You're trapped," I told her, "Tell me, why are you here?"

She looked up at me, eyes burning with rage as she distinguished the fire, struggling to remove the trap her leg was in.

"HERA'S OFFSPRING OFFSPRING OFFSPRING. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I WOULD EVER TELL YOU YOU YOU?" She asked while straining to stand.

"Because I am telling you to," I began, "Please remember it is your leg that is trapped, and that in this field and on this island it is I who holds the power. I have the resources and the power to put you on your knees three times already. So when I ask, 'Why are you here?' you respond without hesitation," I announced to her, fulling embracing my position as a God for the first time.

She went silent at my words, only for a few moments, before my trap began to pop and break, before completely collapsing, followed by Oizys' laughter.

I was left in confusion before even more of my traps around us began to repeat the same cycle.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" I shouted at her.

"I CONTROL THE MISERY AND GRIEF OF ALL THINGS BELOW ME ME ME," she stated, rising to her feet. "YOUR SILLY CONTRAPTIONS HAVE BEEN LEFT DISCARDED FOR TOO LONG LONG LONG. I JUST RELEASED THEM FROM THEIR TORMENT AND THUS, FREED THEM FROM THE GRIEF AND DISCOMFORT THEY WERE GIVEN GIVEN GIVEN,"

"NOW NOW NOW!!! PROSTRATE YOURSELF BEFORE ME ME ME. OFFER YOURSELF TO ME ME ME!!!" she screamed before her body exploded into a cloud of stars.

It looked just like a supernova, quickly taking shape into something of a humanistic form, before materialising into a more solid body; her appearance mostly returned to its originality, but around here the very air fluctuated and she held a purple glow.

My sight blurred from the immense vision and a frosty explosion swept my body with cold sweats. The similarities between what I suspect this transformation to be fit too well with how it was described in a particular set of books…

If this is what I suspected it to be; The Divine Form in which all of a God's essence is in one place. This ability was something only in a book series that most mythology fans had heard of: Percy Jackson.

Everything was spinning around me in an indistinct mix of colours and incomprehensible noises. I wanted to get up and activate my constructs but of course, none responded.

"Is that a Divine Form?" I asked wearily.

"YOU KNOW OF IT IT IT?" She said with surprise, confirming my suspicions, "I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT GROWING UP AWAY FROM YOUR MOTHER WOULD CAUSE YOU TO NOT KNOW OF THE GOD'S KNOWLEDGE KNOWLEDGE KNOWLEDGE,"

Her voice sent a heavy burden pushing down onto my head, buckling my legs with a THUMP!

"WHO IS ON THEIR KNEES NOW NOW NOW?" She mocked, laughing once more.

"Heh, your mother," I said, sticking my middle finger up at her before firing my noisy cricket at point-blank range, blasting us both away, me further than her.

"YOU DARE…YOU DARE DISRESPECT MY MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER?!" She screamed, completely enraged, "I SUMMON THE GRIEF OF ALL THOSE ON THIS ISLAND ISLAND ISLAND!!! LISTEN TO MY VOICE AND LET ME GUIDE YOU TO CLEANER PASTURES PASTURES PASTURES!!!"

At her words, slimy, dripping figures of some recognisable people began to form from the aura surrounding her.

"Now you have an army?" I asked annoyed.

Getting to my feet, I pulled out two long, extending whips infused with my fire; columns rose into the air and my body became set ablaze with fire, doing my best to channel all of my divinity towards myself.

The slimy creatures suddenly sprang towards me, their disfigured bodies still held the facial appearances of those in the village and surrounding areas where the roughly thousand inhabitants of the Ida land lived.

This would mean that there are currently 1,000 enemies rushing towards me, and one creepy Goddess.

I continuously spin the whips around, building momentum before releasing them towards the countless empty husks. However, no matter how much I attacked them, they would continue to get up and reform.

After having to deal with the few enemies that came my way and having to weave between the whip attacks Oizys sent with her chains, I knew my way of approaching her would have to change.

So, I pulled out a small mechanism from my pouch, untouched by Oizys' powers, and attached them to my belt.

My homemade, divine powered movement gear, fueled by the fires of Hephaestus.

A small amount of time had passed and everything was not going great. Okay…so my mobility gear works well. That's a positive thing.

However, it wasn't going well because there was something that isn't positive; It is the fact that this damn Oizys won't "Stop regenerating these things!"

I was easily being completely overwhelmed more and more over time and I had yet to conclude what to do at the current moment.

I had tried many more things that I had in my pouch, each one bringing more and more annoyance upon Oizys and myself alike.

"ENOUGH OF YOUR GAMES GAMES GAMES!!!" she screamed.

Something that I hadn't realised until now was that the longer this fight had been taking the more annoyed Oizys would get, resulting in her grief increasing, and thus she became more powerful.

"MY LEGION LEGION LEGION!!! COME TOGETHER TO FINISH THIS FOOL FOOL FOOL!!!"

Suddenly, all of the soldiers had fallen into a pool of pure grime and sludge, all rapidly coming together. I could only watch as her servants had transformed themselves into one giant legion zombie.

I had to arch my neck upwards to look upon the huge creature which was taller than all the surrounding cliffs.

"NOW NOW NOW. DESPAIR DESPAIR DESPAIR!!!"

However, I could only come to realise she had just suddenly made this battle plenty easier for me as I decided to call out a demand of my own:

"MY STEWARD! COME TO ME!"

With this simple demand, a rumbling could was sent throughout the grounds of the island, as a towering figure could be seen moving just over the cliffs, step by step, pressing deep tremors into the ground.

"You have your giant, I have mine," I told her, "My very own Automaton!"

….

Athena would be happy no matter what the outcome of what Oizys had been doing.

She was 90% certain that Hera's child had hidden themselves on the Island of Lemnos, and had done something to keep Apollo from seeing him…she didn't know how that could be possible though.

However, even if she went to see them in person, it would not help to verify if it was hem at all, so she was left with uncertainty. Athena hated not knowing things, it caused weakness, vulnerability.

If her step-mother's child was on Lemnos, then she was sure that the fight with Oizys would bring them out, or if not, then at least make them realise they are not safe in Lemnos.

If Oizys does lose, which she finds extremely improbable, then she will make it known that it is her that saved the child, by making Oizys wait and give them time to prepare.

A solid future investment with a powerful God/Goddess is something that Athena would always take the opportunity for…you never know what kind of future enemies could appear.

Ever since the battle of the Titanomachy, there had been no real threat to the Gods of Olympus. Athena noticed how Hera seemed to be getting especially unrestful with her unloyal husband, having affairs under the name of needed prophecies.

However, without more help, there was no possible way for Hera to hold a rebellion against the might of Zeus, the liberator of the Titans.

Maybe this new child was the answer to potential future questions…

It all depends on the outcome of this battle.

"Maybe…an ant? Or a horse?" Athena heard the voice of her father say nearby her interrupting her thoughts.

She turned just in time to see him pause, looking at something intently. She angled her body, without the knowledge of her father, and looked to see what he saw.

All she saw was his staring at a wall out of the way of the main hall…but there was a singular hole pierced in it, around waist height…

"I'm…aroused…" Her father said.

"Father-""DAUGHTER!" He shouted in surprise, turning to look at her, "It's lovely to see you again,"

"Yes…you too," she said with a strained smile.

With this I have finally hit 15k words.
