RE: Hephaestus

Life is all about second chances. Not in every single aspect, of course, but we’re often granted a “re-do” without even realizing it. The truth is, some of us are given a lot more but instead of being grateful, we feel entitled. We take people for granted and become hateful when they finally refuse to forgive our mistakes over and over again. We’re only human, right? Everyone makes mistakes at some point. But when someone decides to forgive you and gives you another chance, you should grab it with both hands — because you might not get a third one We’re only human? Second chances don’t come around often? Well, it’s funny you mention that… ————————— This, as you will eventually learn, is an AU

Mother? Are You Blushing? Life Is Complicated.

*Pant* *Pant* "Truly, this is beautiful…no, it is greater than any attempt to describe," Theo said, eyes glued to my sword.

"No it's just a simple sword," I said, trying to diffuse the situation.

"Simple? Ha!" His voice broke as he spoke, stumbling over to look at the sword right up close, "If this is simple then Aphrodite is a virgin, boy!"

"You flatter me, truly it's nothing special," I said once more, surprised at how amazed he is by this.

I can see where my inexperience of smithing has not allowed me to create the sword to the perfection I wanted. Yet he praises it as such?

I want to tell him this information but fear what it may do to the poor man's mentality.

"Truly, there will never be someone as talented as you," He said looking up at me, "It would be my honour for you…to work…here…"

"Are you okay?" I said.

Just on time, a stray strand of my blazing hair dropped over my face, into eyesight.

"Oh…shit,"

"Y-You're a God?" He said, swiftly getting down to his knees, prostrating himself in front of me.

"Please don't do that," I said, feeling disgusted at the feeling that crept up to me when I saw a person lower themself like that to me.

"NO! I mean…no, my lord, I know better than to anger one such as yourself," He replied with his body raising up and down swiftly; Representing his unresting breath.

I just stared in contemplation at him. This man has some history with Gods. Not the good kind. Knowing there wouldn't be many ways to settle this situation, I decided to do something: for him quickly:

I grabbed the handle of the greatsword with both hands and tightened my waist as much as possible before lifting it with little strain.

SHING!

There was a refreshing feeling in my chest as the sword cut through the air. With one stroke, the sun reflected into the blade, presenting me with the image of my face in front of the forges.

I brung the sword down, held sideways, and pointed it underneath where his head rested; His body jerked, backing away slightly.

His hands clenched slightly and I could tell he was ready to jump upwards at any more movement.

"Please, take this sword," I said to him.

"Pardon?" He asked surprised.

"Take the first-ever crafted weapon of a young God. Do with it what you want," I replied, smiling.

"Why?" was the only word he could muster.

"I'm sure I'll be able to make better weapons in the future. What better place for my first weapon to stay than where I first used a smithy?" I said to him with a small laugh.

"First? How old are you…if I'm not being too rude in asking," He said, now being able to look at me again.

"I'm seven," Was my simple reply.

"Seven?! Dear Zeus…you're so young for a God so gifted. Many would-be filling themselves with their arrogance by now…no offence to your family," he said, clearly with much bravery

"That's no offence at all Theo. I don't even know my biological parents," I told him

"Huh…that's interesting. Rumours were going about seven years ago about Hera-" "Hephy!" A loud shout interrupted Theodore.

"Mom?" I asked looking at her.

"You were not at our meeting place. What have you been doing? Why have you revealed your true form? Why are you pointing a sword at a poor mortal? I'm so sorry about my son," she spoke rapidly

"Mom it's not-" "It's my fault,

my lady," Theo said turning towards mother

I was confused at what he meant before he continued, "It is I who said he could come here every day if he impressed me. He did, even more so, you have a wonderfully talented son. He seemed to be so busy in his work that the situation became like this,"

"Oh-No, that's…*SIGH*…Hephy, how could you be so careless?" she said coming over, "Also, where did you find such a beautiful blade? I've never seen one as such my entire life,"

"It's Theo's," I swiftly said, surprising him, "And because he is such a skilled blacksmith, you'll let me learn under him, right Mom?"

She looked around, biting her bottom lip once again, as usual, and said, "Are you sure? You might not enjoy doing this so much in the future. It may just be something you enjoy at the moment,"

"No mom, this is something I've already fallen in love with," I replied stubbornly

"Well alright then; Please look after my son for me," She said turning to Theodore.

"Don't worry my lady, I wouldn't want to disrespect someone as beautiful as you," He told her, beginning to get on his knees for her

"Please don't do that, I see all equal, so please don't bow for me. After all, you will be teaching a God from now on," she spoke.

"Truly, you and your son are very similar. He must have gotten all of your good traits; A very polite young God I must say,"

"Well…I do my best,"

"Haha! You have done well. The man who left you must have been a fool,"

"Oh, stop that, I'm just blessed for having a good young man like Hephaestus,"

"I'm serious, I have never seen a goddess as lovely as you are,"

"Oh, you…"

Huh?

Huh?

Oi Oi Oi

What the fuck is this?

….

"I would recommend waiting just a little while longer Oizys," Athena spoke.

"WHY SHOULD I DO THAT THAT THAT?" Oizys replied.

"How would beating but a young premature God prove anything to us Olympians?" Athena said, walking towards the Goddess littered in chains.

"THEY ARE STILL A CHILD OF HERA HERA HERA. IT MATTERS NOT THE AGE THEY ARE ARE ARE," Oizys persistently argued

"We Olympians have been bred since the moment we came into the world, taught, trained, and governed by the best, we must grow to become powerful and respected by others," Athena continued to persuade Oizys.

"IRONIC COMING FROM THE WOMAN WHO APPEARED FULLY DRESSED IN ARMOUR AND FULL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD WORLD WORLD," Oizys said, her tone becoming harsher as time passed.

"That is exactly why you should trust my words. I know that if you try to tackle the child now then we will notice. You will be seen as a traitor for trying to take over a part of Greece you do not govern,"

"NOBODY GOVERNS LEMNOS LEMNOS LEMNOS. I AM NOT GOING THERE FOR THE TERRITORY TERRITORY TERRITORY. IF I PROVE MY STRENGTH IN BESTING THE CHILD OF THE QUEEN, DEITIES AND MORTALS ALIKE SHALL FEAR ME ONCE MORE MORE MORE,"

"That child probably does not even know their lineage. Let them become known by the people. Let him become stronger. Then, when you beat them, I will vouch for you to to become an Olympian,"

"FINE FINE FINE. 4 YEARS YEARS YEARS. AFTER THAT TIME, I SHALL DRAW OUT THAT CHILD, DEFEAT THEM, AND CLAIM MY POSITION ON OLYMPUS OLYMPUS OLYMPUS," Oizys said before swiftly leaving, her chains clanging constantly as she moved.

Athena stood, watching her leave before a small smile crept to her face.

….

After a month and a bit, I realized that Theodore, or Theo, is a well-respected and famous man among the few people of Lemnos.

This could mainly be pointed towards the fact that the population was barely a few hundred.

This fact was also why Hephaestus came to love spending time with the people of Lemnos. he was able to associate and mingle with all the people of the island; He swiftly accepted it as a new home.

However, Thetis seemed to always be looking out for something…or someone.

When I asked her, she always brushed me off, and when I would listen in to the conversations between my two moms, they would talk about how they're surprised 'they' haven't invaded the islands yet.

With this piece of knowledge, it became obvious to me that we didn't move away from the coast because I became old enough. It was because it would be one of the first areas in which the invaders would arrive, thus putting us in danger.

I appreciate the fact that my mothers had done this to keep me away from any kind of danger, but I could not just sit back and watch the island I had swiftly come to love be taken away from these peaceful people.

When I question Theodore about it, he explained to me that the reason he was creating weaponry when we first met was to arm the men of the island in case there truly will be an invader.

However, he does not know who it is or why…

So…I decided I was going to reap the knowledge only I in the entirety of the world has…knowledge of the future.

Well…maybe there is some God or Goddess out there who know of it as well, but that problem can be settled when it gets there.

Firstly, I created a simple contraption that would release anything loaded inside of it at rapid high speeds. However, I realized this would be highly ineffective since after only firing it once, it would have to reload it again.

I threw it straight into my backpack.

I won't throw it out randomly. I don't want the wrong person getting possession of something far beyond the current norm.

Next, I inadvertently created a gastraphetes. Again, the same issue was held and thus, put away for a later date.

I had to get a personal building away from the town, which I had made myself, since I was constantly making noise in the forge, which, despite how much they liked me, caused them to start hating me for it.

So I would spend my time here when it was the time for the smithy to close, allowing me to enjoy my time without worry of becoming a burden to the others.

I had multiple blueprints laid out in front of me at all times. Could I even call them blueprints? Well, they were the same idea.

Eventually, after lots of trial and error of different designs, I concluded with a simple contraption:

An armlet that spread across the entirety of my forearm.

It took a long while to be able to craft it with 3 separate forms:

- One which converts it to a knife.

- One which converts it into a gauntlet.

- And through futuristic inspiration, one which converts it into, using 'small' inspiration, the noisy cricket.

When used, I flood my divine energy throughout it as it sends an almost invisible blast of explosive fire out of it, creating quite a hefty explosion; I had a lot of explaining to do to my mothers after that one.

In that month, I was also able to create many more things as well; One of which was something made today, using a special material my mother, Eurynome, had gifted to me when I was younger.

It was something called apeiras. She said it had been rooted in the term Apeiron, which meant "boundless"

So, using this "boundless" material, I had created myself a small pouch, no bigger than the size of feet, and let it dangle by my side.

In case of an emergency or anyone who would try to steal it, I had let a loose thread out, attaching it to my armlet, so that if taken, I will instantly be alerted.

Thus, my mind delved deeper through the scape of inventions, expanding my understanding and knowledge of the beauty of art.

….

Meanwhile in Olympus:

Zeus sat in his chair, contemplating yet another hero prophecy that had come his way.

"So I have to make more demigod heroes?!"

Suddenly, a smile came upon him.

"Oooh…I have to make more demigod heroes…"
