The soldiers of the Mari clan along with the Grand elders retreated.
The grand elders guarded the rear as they are worried that the sphere cannons and energy beams will be attacking them. More than that, they are worried that a peak stage cultivator from the Gaja clan will attack them.
After all, one of the grand elders just broke the unspoken rules again.
He attacked Sam to release Sivan.
The only silver lining for that situation is that the Grand elder knew that his attack would be too much and there is a chance that Sivan might also die, and toned it down.
This helped Sam escape with some injuries.
But still an attack is an attack nevertheless.
Even though the grand elders of the Mari clan are extremely reluctant to make such a move, they just couldn't let Sivan die. He is way too valuable as an asset to the clan for them to let him die in the battlefield.
