175 Caught red-handed

Kaden did not know for how long he had passed out. He slowly stirred awake, the fatigue still lingering in his body. His limbs were heavy, and his thoughts sluggish.

He blinked, attempting to focus. His surroundings were dimly lit, not revealing whether it was night or day. He tried to move, to sit up, but his muscles protested with a dull ache, reminding him of the ordeal he had been through.

"Just what did you do now?" His mother's voice cut through the silence, anger clearly etched in every syllable.

Kaden froze, recognizing that tone. It was the one that preceded lectures about responsibility and the importance of keeping his health in check.

Slowly, he turned his head, squinting against the light to see his mother standing in the doorway. She was not happy.
