RAVEN: The Last Mission

"Mystery is one of humans' greatest weakness. Thriving to uncover it could either be the cause of new discovery or their greatest downfall." - Raven Maxene "Raven" has led a life of violence and terror as a skilled assassin, forced to work for an illegal organization that has used her younger brother hostage as a ransom for her loyalty. Being an orphan with no one but her brother in her life, Maxene was trapped in a life of murder and brutality, with no hopes for freedom. Years have passed, and the organization has finally given her an ultimatum: complete one final mission, and she and her brother will be able to live away from the organization and receive a million dollars to start a new life. Her target is a multi-billionaire named Geniere Arthur Falcon, who has been trying to uncover the organization and put a stop to its criminal activities. Maxene's task, however, was not going to be as easy as her previous missions. She has to infiltrate the university to get close to her target’s children as a first step in her mission. As she enters the university, Maxene quickly gets to work, thinking of befriending the siblings, getting to know them, and earning their trust. Ridger, Geniere's eldest son, appeared to be the most cautious, making it difficult for her to gain his trust. However, things start to get complicated when instead of gaining just his trust, they started to develop something more than just what her mission requires. Maxene's story is a gripping tale of love, family, and sacrifices. She would have to make tough choices, and the consequences of these actions would reverberate for a long time to come. It is up to her to decide what truly matters and who’s more important in her life. Would it be her and her brother’s freedom with a chance to live a brand-new life, or would it be the newfound family and relationships she has made, but with the risk of being discovered?

Infiltrating the University

Chapter 3 - Infiltrating the University

The University Royale's land is actually as big as a village. Well... in fact, it is also called University Village. The university has an arc with a huge metal gate that's quite far from the main campus. You have to drive for about 5 minutes to get there which you would enjoy because the side of the road is filled with tall trees. There are other department buildings that are outside the main or actual campus.

The first department building you'd see would be the maritime building that looks like an actual ship which is surrounded by tall trees. After that is the basic education department building.

Every building is unique in its own way. It's not like the usual school buildings that you'd see in the cities because the university is not industrialized; instead, these are mostly renovated old buildings. It seems like University Royale wants to preserve its history.

Typical students would feel dreamy just by seeing how pleasant the environment is because you'd feel like you're living in the past. Raven on the other hand, expected this because she's been here before, but for a different reason.

Raven stood in front of the main campus' gate with a new fake name, background and credentials. If she'll be honest, she isn't bothered at all. She even likes wearing her new school uniform. Not that she doesn't care about taking someone's life after this. She just doesn't want to worry about it now.

From the name of the university itself, only those who came from wealthy and influential families study here. Just by looking from the outside, you can tell how much people pay to study here. Well, you have to be smart too. She had to take an exam to get here too and it was no surprise that she passed.

When she told the chairman about her plan, he immediately agreed and prepared everything she needed including the documents. He has the money to fake it all, even her highschool diploma. The university doesn't usually take late enrollees, but when the chairman paid doubled, they let her in.

"Everything is easy when you have money," she thought in her head while she was heading towards the entrance. When she approached the guard, she showed him her documents and ID. That's right, the stage is already prepared for her. All she has to do now is act.

"Oh, you're the new student. Go in, you'll be late for class," the guard told her. It seems like they knew all the students that studied here, afterall, they aren't a lot. And they inform the guards too which means the security here is no joke.

Raven is not sure if the chairman did a good job faking her documents or they just don't background check enough. Well, if there is money involved, why would they have to anyway? She couldn't help but chuckle because of her thoughts.

"Wait, Ms. Maxene Claire?"

Raven almost forgot her new name but she was able to stop and turn around when the guard called her name. That's right. Her name is now Maxene Claire.

"Yes? Is there anything wrong?" she asked with a confused expression on her face. Did the guard see something wrong?

"Ah, I forgot to tell you. The dean wants to meet you first," he responded.

"Oh, I see." She nodded and was about to head to the dean's office when she remembered that she's supposed to not know anything about the school.

"Oh right, do you know where her office is located?" she queried.

"It's in that new building in front, ground floor's west wing, first room."

Raven looked at where he was pointing. Of course she knows where it is but she has to act like she doesn't, then turned to the guard and smiled, "I got it. Thank you."

She went on ahead and gazed at her watch where she could see a reflection of a man who's been watching her since earlier. He seems like a student here but he's not wearing his school uniform.

But Raven knew exactly who he was. She secretly grinned and walked as if she didn't see him at all. She didn't know he would get his attention this easily but she's hoping it's in a positive way and not the other way around.

Her agenda today doesn't include him yet so she chose to do nothing.

The moment she reached the building, she already saw students walking around the hallway. The morning classes are probably starting soon.

As she walked inside the hallway, she pondered. "I don't want to be late in my first class. But, come to think of it. It's probably the best way to make an impression."

When she headed to the dean's office, she was surprised with the treatment she got. The dean's actually nice. She even told Raven that she can ask for assistance if she needs it after handing in her schedule.

"Thank you, dean. I think I would love it here," she stated while looking at the university pin and name plate that she gave her. For some reason she feels happy because she's going to experience the college life she never had.

She's already 20 and is supposed to be in her sophomore year. Right now she's just a first year student. And of course, she knows who's going to be in some of her class. That is Lianey Erica Falcon, a fresh year fine arts student just like her.

Raven decided to take this course in order to get close to her first. Based on the reports she got, Lianey is the friendliest one making her the easiest target. Meanwhile, the eldest son who's taking a course in business is already in his junior year. And the youngest is just in senior high school. The best option is obviously Lianey.

There are few students in the Fine Arts program so it's easy to have the same class as Lianey. "Everything is perfect," Raven mumbled.

"Do you need someone to take you to your assigned room, Ms. Claire?" the dean asked her.

Raven paused and looked at her. She smiled and responded, "I think I can manage–"

"Oh, come in come in! Ms. Anderson, just about time!" the dean exclaimed, causing Raven to frown and look at the person behind her who was just about to knock on the door. The dean saw her coming because the door is made of tinted glass.

A beautiful young woman came in with a smile plastered on her face. She seemed like the typical "active school girl" famous for her good fashion sense. Raven knew her. She studied everyone who has connections with the Falcons, and she is one of them.

"This is really great timing," Raven pondered.

"Good morning dean," Ms. Anderson greeted with a sweet smile and looked at Raven. "Hi."

Raven returned the smile and greetings.

"Is she the transferee?" Ms. Anderson queried.

"That's right, she's Ms. Maxene Claire. Ms. Claire, she's Ms. Rosalia Anderson, a sophomore student of the Architecture and FIne arts department."

Raven looked at Rosalia and said, "Hello! Are you a Fine Arts student too, ROsalia?"

"Oh no. Actually I'm an Architecture student," she proudly replied and denied being a FIne arts student as if it's inferior. She's not expecting much from her except the fact that she's academically competitive and smart but the rich people tend to react negatively in careers that they believe won't make a bank.

Despite that, Raven thought she could make use of her soon when she found out that Rosalia has some kind of relationship with one of the Falcons.

"Oh and please don't call me Rosalia. Rosie is good enough. So, are you ready to go to your class?" Rosalia as sweetly.

"Yeah, thanks Rosie," she replied and beamed at her.

"Alright! Let's go."

At that moment, Raven knew Rosalia was faking it.
