I turned around. “Why? Have we met before?”

“No,” he replied. “But I don’t treat my wife as a stranger.”

I still don’t understand him at all. “You don’t even like me at all, General. So for me, we are still strangers.”

He replies, “How can we like each other if you’re still pining for Lieutenant Marcial?”

I rolled my eyes at him. “I wouldn’t be pining if you didn’t send him away. If only Marcial were here then…”

“Then what? Sneak out with him again?” he asked.

“What’s the matter with me going out with Marcial? We grew up together!” I am yelling this time.

“Even if you don’t like me at all, Natalia. Please conduct yourself with dignity as the President’s daughter and a future wife of a General! Or I’m not sending Marcial to the hinterlands instead!” he screamed.
