Yuriko Takagi

Yuriko Takagi was a woman that looked to be in her late twenties.

Long, light purple hair that wears her hair down and had it much shorter in the front and pushed to either side of her face and purple eyes.

She had a slender figure, dressed in a style which resembled the typical aristocratic attire; thin red dress, a white cloth wrapped around her arms and mid to lower body, and a silver necklace with a small charm on the front and lipstick.

Yuriko was a highly successful stockbroker on Wall Street before she married her husband, Souichiro Takagi.

Being a mother of only one child, Yuriko dearly loved her daughter, maybe too much as she would send bodyguards to protect her 24/7.

But she never knew that a disaster would hit this world that would shake it to the core.

When the apocalypse started, like other people, her reaction was panic. What was going on? She was considered a genius, but even then, it was too much to take for her.

Dead people coming back to life? That was against the natural cycle of the world. But here she was, watching people biting each other like maniacs.

Still, in the end, she was a genius. Even if she could not find any reason for the current situation – she knew that she needed to stay calm.

Since if she started to panic like every person, then there would no difference between her and them.

Though she was not arrogant, she still had her pride as a genius. When people except for something from you, you have to act according to their expectations, not that she had any other choice since her husband was a politician.

He had a responsibility to lead and safeguard people. Though he did not show it on his face, he deeply cared about his people.

So when the apocalypse hit, he did everything he could to save as many people as he could.

Being her wife, it was her responsibility to stand by his side, and that she did. But she was worried about her daughter, same with her husband. They wanted to go and help their daughter, but they had the responsibility of hundreds of lives on their shoulders.

Of course, they could abandon everyone here, at Takagi State, and go to help her daughter. But what could two of them do in front of the hordes of zombies?

Ask help from their subordinates? Why would they risk their lives to venture on a journey when they are not even sure whether the one they are going to rescue is safe or not.

What if their daughter, Saya, is already had become one of 'them'? Will their man will follow them, risk their lives, for a girl they don't know whether alive or dead? The answer is: of course, not!

That's why they hardened their hearts and stayed at Takagi Estate, praying to God that their daughter is alive and safe. Praying that she would reach them safely.

Today was any other day for Yuriko. She would go outside to petrol with her men to see if there are any survivors, and to bring them back safely.

She picked her fire suit and wore it. Walking out of her room, she walked towards the door of the Takagi State that was being guarded.

Coming out of the mansion, she gazed at the gloomy sky and sighed. 'What is happening in this world?... Saya… please be safe.' Thought passed in her mind as she reached the fire extinguisher truck.

They were using high pressurized water released from the pipe to fend off the zombies.

Not that they did not have guns. They just wanted to save as much as they could. She looked at the men that were waiting for her, fully equipped.

Seeing her, they all saluted with respect. Yuriko nodded and went inside the truck.

"Where are we patrolling today, mam?" The driver asked with respect.

Yuriko thought for a while and replied, "Near the river. We have not patrolled that area for some time now. We will check if there are 'them' and any survivors."

The driver nodded and pressed the accelerator of the truck. Yuriko looked out of the truck, at the destroyed buildings, with bodies littered everywhere – a sigh escaped from her mouth.

It all felt like a bad nightmare to her. As they were reaching close to the bank of the river, they heard the sound of fighting.

Yuriko become attentive as she said to the driver, "It seems that there are some survivors left! Hurry! Drive in the direction of the sound, or we might be too late!"

The driver nodded seriously and accelerated towards where the sound was coming from.

As they were close to the sound, suddenly, they saw a building being destroyed. They all become wide-eyed.

'Are they using tanks? Military?' Yuriko thought.

But that thought left her mind as she saw some teenager standing trembling on the road as they pointed their weapons towards a grotesque creature.

"What is that?!" The driver shouted as his eyes also fell upon the creature.

"Saya!" A delighted shout left Yuriko's mouth as her eyes fell upon her only daughter. She was jubilant to see her daughter again.

But soon it all turned into horror and terror as they saw their surroundings being to change. They found themselves standing in a crimson world as the heavy smell of blood assaulted their nostrils, making it hard to breathe – it was suffocating, to say the least.

They all felt dread washing over their every pore. They felt like an ant before a God, a fish on a chopping board. The slightest mistake and their heads will be rolling on the ground.

'Who is that kid?!' She screamed internally as she saw a kid, who looked to be 10, flying in the air with an injured girl in his hands.

Yuriko could tell that all this bloodlust was being released from this boy, astonishing her. But if that was not enough, she saw a fight that she will never forget in her life.

A fight that should be impossible for a human to ever replicate. A fight out of a fantasy story. Her shock was beyond belief.

Watching a child fighting a creature several times bigger than him. She and her man just stood there dumbly, watching everything unfold.

Soon, the fight reached its climax as Yuriko saw the child bisecting the creature into two as its body fell into the river – drowning.

Coming out of her shook, Yuriko rushed towards the wires and shouted, "Saya!"
