The village head is back!

"Huh? Why is no one here? I have only been gone for a few days and they all stopped working?" The village head muttered with a frown on his face as he walked through the footpath that ran through the field to the village. All the way to the entrance of the village, the old mage did not see a single person come out, it was only after he reached the village did he finally see someone.

It was a kid who looked to be fifteen or sixteen years old with dirty brown hair, he wore a small gray jalabiya that looked very old and worn; he was one of the kids in the village as well as Alex's friend.

The kid sat quietly in front of a wooden house, a frustrated expression on his face as he stared into the space ahead of him.

The village head instantly felt something was not right, it was rare to see someone spacing out in the village with such an expression even when something happened to the field, it was more troubling when the one spacing out was a kid!

"Hey, Julian. What's the matter?!"

The village head called out as he walked toward the kid. Of course, he remembered the kid's name; he could remember the name of almost everyone in the village at a single glance.

The kid in dirty Jalabiya jolted up when someone called his name, Julian slowly turned in the direction of the village head. His eyes widened the instant the figure of the old mage came into view and an ecstatic look appeared on the kid's face.

"Village…head? Village head! The village head is back!!"

Julian first muttered the words in a doubtful tone as if even he could not believe it before turning it into a loud bellow the next moment.

He kept screaming "The village head is back" as he ran deeper into the village.

The old mage was stunned at the sudden outburst of the child.

'Just what happened when I was away and where is everyone!?'

The village head exclaimed inwardly as a feeling of foreboding crept up his heart.

He was not made to wait for too long though as he was soon surrounded by all the villagers just a while after Julian's announcement echoed through the village.

"Village head, you're finally back!"

"You came back so quickly, did everything go well?"

"How is Alex, he made it in?"

"Village head…"

" Village head…"

The village head was surrounded by voices from all sides and he did not know where to begin or who to reply first, he could not fathom why the villagers were acting like this.

" Everyone calm down first, one at a time"

The village head voiced out, causing all the villagers to immediately quiet down. They realized that they had been so impatient and excited upon seeing the village head that they forgot to welcome him properly.

Forget about the village head being an old man and one of the oldest members of the village, he was respected by all because he was also a mage and a kind-hearted old man who cared for the village despite being the only mage amongst them; old man Vee was not counted as a mage since he never used a single spell was lived just like an ordinary person, unless he said it, no one would know that he was in fact a mage.

"Make way, make you!" An aged voice came from behind the crowd of villagers as an old man in rags forced his way through with two people following behind him; actually, it was the villagers who made way upon hearing his voice. After all, the old man was also one of the oldest people in the village.

This person was obviously the old storyteller, Bretrato and the two people following behind him were Marcos and Agnes, Alex's parents.

The eyes of the village head lit up at the sight of the three and he also moved towards them.

"Bretrato, what happened? Why is the village like this?" The village head asked in a worried tone.

"You came back only after a few days, did everything go well? How is Alex?" Bretrato brushed off the question of the village head and asked a question of his own.

The village head made a weird face at the old man ignoring his question but decided not to drag on the matter as the couple behind the storyteller were staring at him, waiting for his answer.

The village head sighed and a smile formed on his face.

"Everything went well. Alex successfully awakened two elements and got into the Royal Magic Academy instantly!" The village head said, his voice filled with pride and joy as he mentioned the news.

The eyes of everyone present glowed with sparkling light when they heard this.

Double element!?

Instantly accepted by the Royal Magic Academy!?

One had to understand that even in advanced places like the capital, not everyone could still enter the Royal Magic Academy and not everyone could stay after entering; this was the thought of the villagers although it was not far from the truth.

But double elements? When has it ever been heard that a mage awakened two elements? It has never been heard of! Not even in books! Of course, only books that were not available to the public would have such records but the villagers would not know that because they were the 'Public'

"He made it then, I'm glad" Agnes muttered softly as a soft smile formed on her face and her eyes glistened with tears, Marcos was also smiling in relief and excitement at the news.

The fact was that the whole village was thrilled by the news, they had someone in the Royal Magic Academy, and their future was bright!

"That lad finally got his wish fulfilled. Hahaha! I have a disciple who is a mage!" Bretrato burst into gleeful laughter.

"By the way, where is old man Vee?" The village head asked as he noticed that the white-haired old man was nowhere to be seen.

The joyful atmosphere of the village instantly disappeared when the village head asked that question and everyone's face turned solemn. Even Bretrato, who used to bicker with old man Vee a lot, had a sad expression on his face when the village head asked about him.

"Old man Vee…old man Vee was…"
