RAISING A PROTAGONIST

"Goodness, being the strongest is not as I expected at all. Everything and everyone are too weak and terrified. "My students are scared of me as well?" "Even powerful magic beasts die before I touch them!" "Hmm? Oh, he has the protagonist star but he is too hidden and might not shine. Hehehe, I'll groom this one and make him into the strongest too" Realizing that being the strongest comes with not only power and authority but extremely loneliness and unbearable boredom, vee fakes his death and travel to a far away land to live as a commoner. But just a few years after his retirement, his planet was invaded by a strong force that seek to conquer their home. But vee decides not to act this time and rather watch from the sideline while secretly helping someone else to become the main character in the darkest moment of their planet.

Just give up and die

" I… don't, will… I mean" Milan began to stutter when Vee suddenly asked him to come sit with them instead of Torie. His eyes stared fixedly at Alex, making him unable to decide.

A hand suddenly fell on Milan's shoulder from behind, he turned and stared at Gustavo who had suddenly given him a shoulder pat.

"Don't force yourself if you don't want to" Gustavo said to him before turning over to Helen and the others.

"Hi! Vee, right? You don't mind if I sit with you, right?" Gustavo said to Vee with a light chuckle.

"Of course not, here" Vee replied and patted the remaining seat that was close to him.

Their seating position was now Gustavo, Vee, Alex, and Helen at the other end.

Milan sat at the end of the next set after Gustavo took the remaining seat on Alex's set. Torie only glared at him for a while before wordlessly sitting next to him, two more students came in and sat with them to complete the set but they could not help but take sneak glances at Torie from time to time as she was just too dazzling to be ignored.

This irritated Milan so much that he decided to change spots with her but she refused him strongly and he could only stop and give the two students threatening glares.

"Alright, silence you all!"

Bree, who had been silent for over thirty minutes while watching the students settle down suddenly voiced out from behind the podium.

"Firstly, welcome to your first year in the academy. Secondly, my name is Bree, you can address me as teacher or instructor Bree. I'll be your main teacher for the whole first year…I know some of you might have already guessed this" Bree said as she scanned the faces of all the students sitting in the classroom.

" Now, I'll explain a few things about the academy to you. You might have already read about them, that is assuming you lots were smart enough to read the manual in your storage device. But I'll still go ahead with the explanation for those blockheads who didn't read their manual.

"Firstly, the classes that you will offer in your first year. There are four classes available for the first-year students of this academy, three of these classes are free while the last one will require a passage fee.

These classes are the elemental theory class, wand specialty class, magic beast study, and the last one is the combat class which will require a passage fee of two gold coins every three months"

A lot of students gasped in shock at the mention of the price for the combat class, it appeared that quite a lot of people had not bothered to look through their manual after getting their storage device so the sudden news of having to pay two gold coins for a class came as a big shock to them. After all, two gold coins were quite a lot for those who were from poor families so not every student could afford to pay.

'Hehe, they should just wait till they see the classes for the second year upwards. These wimps would probably think of dropping out in despair' Vee chuckled silently at the shocked expressions on the faces of the students.

"Seeing that quite a lot of you are surprised to hear this, I'll take it that you all are the blockheads who did not care to read the manual in your storage device after getting to your lodge. What did you think the academy provided a manual for? Better read it later when you have time because I'm only explaining a few things from it" Bree said to the students as her eyes easily searched for Vee at the back of the class, his hair color was quite special so it wasn't difficult for her to spot him.

' Judging by the expression on his face, I'm sure he has learned about this already. Then he should have already prepared for the ranking along with the other kid(Alex)' Bree thought to herself. She had been placed here so she could watch over the dual awakener herself, Alex, but she was more interested in the other white-haired kid who introduced himself as Vee. Something about him just made her very curious about him.

'I should focus on the class for now' Bree thought to herself and pulled her gaze away from Vee.

"Moving on, the combat class will only be available after three months in the academy so you won't have to pay for it…yet. For the first three months that you all will spend attending the other three classes, the combat class will be unavailable because you will be required to make enough progress with your element to attend the combat class. But know this, the combat class will not be postponed if you fail to make necessary progress before the three months run out. Don't say that you got left behind as you all are on an equal starting point right now, talents might be essential to make progress but hard work can help you catch up to those with better talents" Bree explained.

A student suddenly stood up without warning and asked.

"What if those with talents are also working hard?"

A few other students giggled at the question, it was possible that the student was just trying to liven up the mood by making a small joke.

But Bree's answer sent a chill down students' spines.

"Then just give up and die," she said mercilessly, her voice chilling as ice with her eyes glaring coldly at the boy who asked the question.

The boy gulped, suddenly feeling his throat dry up. He took his seat silently and never asked any questions again.

"Now where was I before I was interrupted? Ah, yes. After those three months, a test will be issued to you. Not just you who are in this class, I'm talking about all first-year students so those in other classes are included as well.

And this is where the ranking comes in" Bree paused and stared in Vee's direction again, she also observed the expressions on the faces of other students but her eyes lingered on Vee much longer.
