RAISING A PROTAGONIST

"Goodness, being the strongest is not as I expected at all. Everything and everyone are too weak and terrified. "My students are scared of me as well?" "Even powerful magic beasts die before I touch them!" "Hmm? Oh, he has the protagonist star but he is too hidden and might not shine. Hehehe, I'll groom this one and make him into the strongest too" Realizing that being the strongest comes with not only power and authority but extremely loneliness and unbearable boredom, vee fakes his death and travel to a far away land to live as a commoner. But just a few years after his retirement, his planet was invaded by a strong force that seek to conquer their home. But vee decides not to act this time and rather watch from the sideline while secretly helping someone else to become the main character in the darkest moment of their planet.

Controlling mana

"Mind telling the class what you were daydreaming about?" She asked.

"I was thinking about how to form the stars for the star patterns and why they needed to be tamed" Vee lied without blinking, his answer was so fast and his words so straight that no one would doubt him.

Bree's eyes flashed with a glint as she stared at Vee, feeling that he was not saying the truth but there was nothing that she could do about it.

"If that's the case, then you better pay attention to the class instead" Bree scoffed before resuming her teaching.

"All stars will have different behaviors after being formed so you will need different approaches in order to tame them…"

The class went on for hours before finally coming to an end at noon. Bree had taught the students how to form stars with mana, the structure of a star pattern, guidelines on creating a star pattern, placement of the stars, the different behaviors that stars would have after being formed, and the approach that could be used for each behavior, as well as how to link them. She also gave the students the chance to ask questions on what they were not clear about and she answered all their questions till they were satisfied.

Of course, she was not expecting them to create their star patterns in just one but she did advise them to start today since the earlier they did, the better.

"I'll check your progress tomorrow, class dismissed," Bree said before vanishing into flickers of lightning once again, stunning the students once more and awakening their desire. The students were all eager to get back to their lodges and start forming their stars!

"Finally, the class is finally over!" Vee said with a sigh as he slumped down on his seat like a boneless person.

"Hey, was the class really that boring? Don't you want to create your star pattern and be able to use spells too?" Gustavo asked as he kept his things inside his storage device.

Vee's eyes flung open.

'Crap, I'm still in class!' he exclaimed inwardly before quickly standing up.

"That's exactly why I can't wait for class to end, I want to start forming my stars immediately!" Vee voiced out in a fired-up manner, causing Helen to laugh while Alex and Gustavo only let out a chuckle while shaking their heads.

"Anyway, we can start that after getting lunch. You aren't planning on creating a star pattern on an empty stomach, right?" Helen said as she went to drag Torie over while Milan followed behind them.

All of them went to the cafeteria together just like the previous day to get something to eat, luckily, they did not run into Damian today so they were able to eat their food in peace; Gustavo paid for everything and also advised the others to get some take-outs. He said.

"My Dad once said that the process of forming stars can take a very long time and mages would usually feel very hungry and exhausted when they stop"

The others did not stand on ceremony and accepted the offer, same was for Milan and Torie even though they could pay for their takeouts.

Alex was hesitant but later agreed after Vee said he could give him his share if he didn't want to eat it.

They all bid farewell to each other before returning to their respective lodges, a lot of other students could also be seen rushing to the lodge Area; looks like everyone was fired up and could not wait to start forming their stars.

Alex and Vee ran into Brown on their way to their lodge but shockingly, Brown did not bother them and only waved before dashing past them.

"Everyone is in a frenzy" Vee shook his head.

"Isn't that a good thing? They are all inspired to work hard" Alex voiced out, slightly confused as to why Vee sounded sorry for the students.

" Oh, I didn't mean it like that. Don't mind me, it's just an old habit" Vee waved his hand and said, he did not bother telling Alex that most of these students would be on the verge of giving up just after a few days because of how difficult the process of making a star pattern was. If they were not pressured enough, their determination to create a star pattern would die completely.

'Well, I guess that's why the academies created the ranking' Vee thought to himself.

The two soon reached Area 7 and swiftly made their way to their lodge, they took turns in the shower before heading to their respective rooms.

"See ya in the morning then," Vee said before entering his room. He could see the fire in Alex's eyes and knew that the kid would most likely spend the rest of the day trying to form his stars and he might even choose to overwork himself through the night, it was a good thing!

"Yeah, see you in the morning" Alex responded before closing his door.

He changed into a pair of shorts and sat cross-legged on his bed, topless.

Picking up his storage device, Alex brought out his note and flipped the pages.

"The first step is to absorb mana into the soul till you feel full" Alex muttered as he read the things written in the book, he quickly flipped to one of the pages that he had written yesterday, subtopic: mana.

Alex began to remember instructor Bree talking about this particular place as he read the book.

"Mana is like an invisible liquid in the air which you can only feel and control when you focus enough, using your thoughts, you can command the mana around you to come towards you. You can then direct it into your body, in other words, absorb it into your body. You will immediately feel the path to your soul open and you just have to guild the mana flowing into your soul so that it doesn't scatter or flow too fast as it could hurt you" Alex read the words while feeling as if the instructor Bree's voice was also saying the same words in his head; it was just the scene from yesterday playing in his memory.

"Alright, let's do this!" Alex said with a comprehensive voice as he kept the book in the corner and closed his eyes, he began to sense the mana in the air.
