199 Chapter 199

When I woke up again it was in a room I didn't recognize. The walls had fine, molded plaster painted over white with dark wood trim, high quality stuff I hadn't seen since I had last stayed at the Dustave Duchy. After three years of village lodge walls and roughing it, it was like being transported to the Twilight zone, especially when soft light filtered through sheer white curtains still managed to hit the dewdrop crystals of the chandelier and pepper the opposite wall with fuzzy rainbows.

For a long time I just laid there, breathing in a soft, floral scent, taking stock of my body encased in soft bed and blankets, and picking out the different flowers in a bouquet set on a nightstand next to the bed. It was a four-poster bed with tied back sheer curtains that matched those on the windows.
