I Start Off on the Wrong Foot!

031@ Spending your life working closer and closer to your goal is a good way to live in my opinion. However, what if you never accomplished that goal? What if you died before ever achieving what you worked for your entire life? Would you feel proud of yourself for making so much progress, or would you feel sad knowing that you came so close but never truly completed your ultimate goal? If you want my advice, then try this: Decide what your next goal is in your next life. @404

"I can't believe that I'm actually standing here." I said to myself in self-contained excitement.

My heart throbbed and skipped a few beats as my eyes gazed upon the great towers of the academy. I thought that this place looked awesome enough with all the ancient and fancy decorations everywhere, but apparently this place is said to turn into a diamond under the moonlight or something. I believed the "rumors" since I actually saw pictures on the internet, but I've never actually seen it in real life.

"I should write this down as a new goal." I said to myself as I pulled out a little notepad and a broken pencil. "See... the... academy... when... nightfall...hits..."

Once I had that written down on my long list of goals that I wish to accomplish, I gripped on one of the straps of my backpack tightly, took a few deep breaths, and started walking forward with a smile.

"As long as I'm not late to the opening ceremony, I should be a-ok," I told myself. "This is where my new life begins. From now on, I'll control my own destiny. Nothing could possibly get in my wa-"

"GET OUT OF THE WAAAAY!!!"

"...?!"

Right before I got sent flying to the ground, a girl with long bright pink hair was running at full speed straight at me.

WHAM!

The force of the impact launched me ten feet backwards before I collapsed onto the ground. The wind got knocked out of me, so I couldn't breathe for a few moments. When I finally did catch my breath, I closed my eyes and stood back on my feet.

"Hey, whoever you are, are you ok?" I asked the pink-haired girl, wherever she was.

"Owwie... yeah, I think I'm ok," she said. "But... why are you covering your eyes like that?"

"Because I don't want to accidentally look up your skirt and see your panties."

"...!"

When I heard her stand up I uncovered my eyes to see her face as red as a rose, and filled with hatred and embarrassment.

"I-I-I SWEAR, I DIDN'T SEE THEM," I shouted while waving my hands in defense. "AND I ACTUALLY DIDN'T SEE THEM!!!"

"You... j-j...JERRRRRRK!!!"

She raised her fist and started to bring it down to my face, but their was no way that I was going to let myself get beat up on the first day. Right when she was about to connect her blow, I quickly caught her fist with my left hand and twisted it around my shoulder. When I had a firm grip on her, I lifted her up over my back and slammed her on the ground.

"Self-defense Technique Number 3," I said, repeating my mother's training tips. "When an opponent comes in with their right fist, grab it with your left, then lift and slam!"

"WHAT KIND OF TECHNIQUE IS THAT!!!" the girl shouted, still on the ground.

"It's a technique that totally kicked your ass!" I said with a grin.

"YOU'RE SO DEAAAAAAD!!!"

She instantly got back up on her feet and came at me with her left hand, but I already had another Self-defense Technique ready for that. When her fist was inches from my face, I, this time, grabbed her entire arm, pulled her closer to me, and kneed her in the stomach.

"KUHAAAGH!!!" she coughed painfully.

I then spun around her and wrapped my arms around her waist while I was behind her. I picked her up off the ground once again and leaned backwards until she slammed on the ground once again.

"Self-defense Technique Number 4," I said, once again repeating my mother's training tips. "When your opponent comes at you with her left fist, grab their entire arm, knee them in the stomach, then spin around them and wrap your arms around their waist and-"

"I GET IT!!!!!" the girl shouted in annoyance.

"Are you done now?" I asked her.

"Yeah yeah, I'm done," she said, raising her hand up in surrender.

"You're starting to sound a little pathetic." I pointed out.

"Oh shut up! I'm not that weak."

"Did you attack me because you thought I saw your panties?" I asked.

"NO!!! Well... that's only partly the reason."

"Ok then, what's the main reason?"

"Well, you see... *sigh*... It's because I thought that I could get a win streak started. I attacked only the boy students because I thought that none of them would have the balls to fight a girl, but I guess that isn't always the case."

"So... how many wins did you manage to get?" I asked.

"I'd say about six or seven."

"I guess that means at least six people in this school are sexist. Anyways, what exactly is this whole 'win streak' thing?"

The girl tilted her head in confusion.

"Are you new here or something?" she asked.

I nodded my head.

"Ok well... hmm... The win steak thing is basically self-explanatory. If you have a long win streak, you start to become popular. Of course this comes at a disadvantage..."

I already knew that disadvantage.

"Let me guess: The more popular you are, the higher you chances of getting targeted are."

"Exactly. This system is also associated with how this school works, but instead they use a win-loss ratio to determine your chances of graduating..."

DI-DING DONG DIIIING!

"OH CRAP, THAT'S THE FIVE-MINUTE BELL!!!" the girl suddenly shouted as she quickly sprang to her feet.

Five-minute bell?

"We've only got five minutes left until the opening ceremony begins! Follow me, I know where to go!"

She quickly took my hand and started to run, but I quickly took it back.

"You can go on your own." I told her.

"...EEEHHHHH?!?!?!"

Is she an idiot or something? There's no way in hell I'm going to follow someone that just tried to attack me twice!

"You tried to attack a new student who's had zero experience in a place like this," I said. "As far as I know, you're my enemy! You can stay the hell away from me for as long as I live. I don't want anything to do with a pathetic, cowardly, sexist bully like you!"

And with that, I stormed off in a huff. As I walked into the school I turned my head to see the girl with a dumb-founded look on her face. She was completely frozen in shock as well.

"You had it coming." I silently said to her.

Bet you didn't see that last part coming eh!?!
