1 Chance Encounter

AN: MC loosely based on Sosuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic.
"Get the kids out of here!" A gruff voice shouts as rows of soldiers stream through a militia camp in Afghanistan.
"Come with me. We can help you." A younger voice says, entering the hut a group of children is stashed in.
One of the children, seeming to be around 8 years old approaches him cautiously while the rest are sitting back indecisively.
"Can you understand me? Tell your friends to come with us." The soldier says as the young boy comes over.
Once within arms reach however the kid grabs the man with unnatural strength and forces him to his knees as fangs sprout of his and almost every kid's mouth in the tent, safe for two boys. One is around 8 years old with brown hair and a cross shaped scar on his left cheek while the other is around 10 years old and has a scar over his left eyebrow.
The soldier goes down with a scream, his firearm going off and rounds going through the kids approaching him, as well as the sand beneath them, but the bullets don't faze the children as they continue to group around the man, who soon shrivels up completely drained off blood while every kid safe for the two kids calmly sitting at the back of the hut has blood dripping out their mouth and turn to the two boys with yellow piercing eyes and black veins all over their faces. Within seconds the group of maybe 10 kids are standing around the two remaining ones and start to feed, both normal kids screaming and yelling in pain, but their voices get lost over the ongoing firefight and yelling happening outside their tent.
Sosuke, the 8 year old boy who got fed on awakes after blacking out from pain and looks around himself weakly, seeing the other boy with him dead beside him, while he as well as Sosuke himself have bitemarks and ripped off flesh on various parts of their body.
Sosuke hears three of the young vampires who fed on him and his brother figure crawling away while their mouth seemingly is getting burned away.
He pushes off the two dead vampires lying atop of him and rises to his feet, albeit wobbly and sees a broken chair leg in front of him, without so much as blinking eyes he grabs the wooden object and hobbles after the two vampires trying to crawl away, stabbing them through their hearts from behind, emotionlessly watching as they turn gray and dead.
He proceeds to tumble to the huts exit and falls down, looking at a battlefield of dead and wounded soldiers, the remaining standing ones checking for survivors.
"1 kid survived sir." A woman reports, kneeling down next to Sosuke who weakly looks over to her before she closes her fist and he suddenly falls asleep.
Sosuke opens his eyes, looking around his room and slips out of his bed, taking the silver dagger he has under his pillow with him on his way to the bathroom. As he does his usual routine of a shower and brushing his teeth he stares at the bathroom mirror. The same question on his mind for as long as he can remember... why?
He looks over his body in the mirror, scars decorating his skin here and there, ranging from cuts and bullet wounds to bite marks.
"Sosuke, we have somewhere to be." Alaric Saltzman says, knocking on his bedroom door before he leaves just as quickly as he arrived, knowing that the 17 year old teen heard him quite well.
Sosuke gets dressed in his usual clothes, consisting of black boots, grey jeans and a black shirt under a dark red hoodie.
As Sosuke steps out of his room in the school Alaric is headmaster of, he looks across the hall where a beautiful brunette steps out of her room, wearing blue jeans, a brown sweater and shoes and raises her eyebrows as if challenging him before heading down the hall.
Sosuke closes his door behind him and locks it, storing the key in his pants pocket before following the brunette girl in silence. They pass only a few other kids around their age in the hallways of the school before arriving outside of the school building, where the headmaster is loading up some dufflebags in a car.
"Let's go." The older man says and the two teens enter the car. Hope, the brunette girl sitting next to the headmaster while Sosuke is sitting on the backseat, looking at himself through the rearview mirror, his grey eyes seeming as empty as his life is and always has been.
"Where are we going this time?" Sosuke asks, leaning back in the seat and takes out his phone while looking at the blonde man in his late fourties.
"Hah, I won." Hope says victoriously, raising her arms and does a little happy dance in her seat.
"Everytime with you two." Alaric says with a grin and looks back to Sosuke, saying "We're looking for a werewolf three towns over actually." Alaric answers and starts the car, lighting up the dark surroundings and drives off the schoolgrounds.
"Why do we have to head out so late?" Hope asks, checking her phone for the time while Sosuke pulls up a map of the area Alaric points at on the screen.
"Because a birdie gave me a tip on where we can find him right now." Alaric says.
"Spit it out already." Hope tells him rolling her eyes at the dodgy answer.
"He's getting taken to an exorcism in the church." Alaric answers.
"So he's out and not alone tonight of all nights?" Sosuke asks, looking through the window and sees a full moon peeking through the clouds.
"Yep." Alaric replies, not delighted by the fact as well.
"So it'll be interesting." Hope says with a slight smile and stretches her arms in front of herself.
"So, what's the score on who's more silent right now?" Alric asks, glancing at the two teens.
"290 to 180." Hope says with a teasing smile, looking back at Sosuke.
"You better step it up a notch then Sosuke." Alaric says.
"Yeah, 10 more wins and you have to make me a present." Hope reminds the teen.
"Not like it matters to me." Sosuke replies cooly, his grey eyes meeting Hope's.
"Was it really nessecary to use a covenant spell on a bet though?" Alaric asks.
"You always told us to practise our spells whenever we can." Hope replies with a shrug.
"Whatever." Sosuke replies and gets out a switchblade from his pocket and looks over it and checks its blade.
"We're here to get another student, not kill a teen." Alaric reminds Sosuke sternly, who in response shrugs his shoulders and stores the knife in his pocket again.
"We'll see." Sosuke replies, crossing his arms and looks down at the map on the phone he holds in one hand.
"Good to see you haven't changed at all. At least this way I don't have to worry about being the absolute most disliked person at school." Hope retorts, giving him a fake smile.
Sosuke only looks at her for a moment before turning back to his phone.
Half an hour later their truck pulls up in front of the church in question and they exit the car.
"Landon?" Hope says surprised, seeing the boy she met before he moved away from Mystic Falls.
"You know him?" Alaric asks Hope.
"He used to work at the MysticGrill."
"Hope" Landon says while staring at her dumbfounded after pulling out his earbuds.
"Chains." Sosuke says, pushing on the doors and nods at the jingling chain hanging on the other side, locking them out.
Hope quickly casts a spell and the chains explode. Sosuke quickly enters the church, with Hope and Alaric following after him, carrying a backpack each.
Once in the church Sosuke sees a dark skinned boy writing in pain while on his knees as his bones break and reshape. In front of him is standing a priest speaking latin and holding a wooden cross. The boys foster parents turn to Sosuke, Hope and Alaric trying to stop them from interfering in their exorcism, Sosuke quickly knocks them out with a quick hit to their temples however and doesn't slow down his approach, jumping over the transforming boy and chokes out the priest, pulling him away from the werewolf.
Meanwhile Hope and Alaric reach the boy and both get to work quickly, Alaric screwing an anchor into the floor while Hope puts a collar and chains around the transforming werewolf.
"Try to stay calm. We're here to help." She tells him, but gets distracted by Landon following them inside and shouting "What the hell is happening?" upon seeing his brother turn more and more into a wolf by the second.
Hope misses to fixate the second clasp properly and moves to calm the onlooker down while Sosuke is screwing in the second anchor and connects the chain to it.
"Not a second too early." Alaric says proudly when he and Sosuke have finished and the boy finished his transformation, now being a tiger-sized black wolf snarling angrily.
"Oh shit." Alaric shouts when the collar around the creature pops open and the wolf starts to charge at Hope, who finally turns back towards the werewolf. As it's closing in however Sosuke manages tackle at its hindquarters and makes the wolf fall down. It bites Sosuke's hand in return before Hope manages to use a spell to shove the wolf back and to the collar and chains which Alaric quickly snaps around the wolf's neck.
"That was intense." Landon says shocked while Hope and Alaric hurry over to Sosuke, who grunts in pain while sitting up against one of the banks in the church and accepts a rope Alaric brings over, with the headmaster's help he quickly ties the rope around his wrist to stop the bleeding.
"I..." Hope stammers, shocked to see that she messed up and got Sosuke hurt.
"I got it." Sosuke cuts her off calmly and heads out of the church to treat his wound in the car.
"He'll be fine." Alaric tells Hope, who looks close to a breakdown, which given her powers could be dangerous.
"Sorry." Hope says guiltily.
"OK, so what the hell is going on?" Landon asks.
Meanwhile outside the church Sosuke fixed a bandage around his wound after disinfecting it.
"Why?" He asks himself, this time out loud while looking at his bloodied hand.
After sitting in the car lost in thought for 5 or so minutes, Hope comes out of the church and hops on the other backseat, looking over his bandage around his hand, with both staying silent.
Once she's content that he did a good job at treating his wound she leans back into the seat and looks over to him while he doesn't show any reaction to her.
"Why did you do that? I have super healing remember? Plus even if I were to somehow die, I'd have come back as a full tribrid vampire." She asks quietly.
"I don't know." Sosuke says, finally meeting her eyes.
"I just reacted. I should train myself more." Sosuke says, making her chuckle lightly.
"What?" Sosuke asks.
"You risked your neck to protect me and want to work on not protecting people as a result?" She asks amused.
"Seems to be a solid conclusion. You can heal, I can't." Sosuke replies.
"Yeah, but... I think you should stay the way you are." She says after thinking about her wording.
"Why? Do you like to see me in pain and hated by the other students?" Sosuke asks curiously.
"To some degree." She says softly and bites her wrist, offering her blood to him.
"Not this much though." She adds.
"I shouldn't" He replies.
"Why not, are you trying to guilt trip me with a scar into backing out of our agreement?" She asks while looking at him challengingly.
Sosuke looks at her and takes a deep breath before nodding and gently takes her wrist, sucking on her soft skin and collects her warm blood with his tongue, for just a second or so, before pushing back her wrist and moaning in pain.
"What just happened?" Hope asks shocked.
"Vervain." He pants out, while closing his eyes in pain.
"Why would you drink my blood then you idiot?" She asks.
"You help so many others, you deserve not to feel guilty about this." Sosuke grunts.
"For someone struggling to show emotions you sure do kind acts." Hope says amused while shaking her head.
"You are my friend afterall." He says while shrugging his shoulders.
A few hours later the group now consisting of 3 humans, one tribrid and one unconscious werewolf are sitting in the car on the way to the Salvatore school.
"Soo, am I gonna get an explanation to what is going on?" Landon asks.
"We will explain everything, once we get there." Alaric answers.
"And where is there exactly?" Landon asks.
"Home." Hope says.
"Welcome to the Salvatore school. I'm Lizzie." Lizzie introduces herself to the two newcomers once they are out of the car and awake.
"I'm Josie. We're twins." Josie adds both girls smiling at the two.
"Rafael, why don't you go with the girls while I talk to Landon." Alaric tells the young boy, who then gets lead away by Lizzie and Josie.
"So, let's get started." Alaric tells Landon, leading him, Hope and Sosuke inside, though the latter splits off to get his hand looked at.
"I'm curious. Were you aware of us while you were in Mystic Falls?" The headmaster asks while leading Landon through the school.
"I knew hope went to some fancy boarding school, people always said it's for troubled rich kids. And I see that the rich part is true." Landon answers, stopping at seeing a young girl levitate some books in front of her.
"Though no one in town mentioned anything about that." He says before falling back in step with Alaric.
"No one in Mystic Falls knows much about us. We keep ourself quiet just enough not to raise questions. And you know I had a speech prepared, but basically everyone nowadays gets the gist after they read Harry Potter." Alaric tells him.
"You're a school for magic?" Landon asks.
"A school for the supernatural." Alaric corrects Landon, taking a seat on his chair, while pointing Landon to the empty seat in the room.
"Basically everyone here has something that makes them special in a way the outside world wouldn't understand." Alaric answers.
"So what are you?" Landon asks Hope, turning to her.
"I should really get to class." She tries to excuse herself.
"No. No, please. I don't mean to be a dick but I don't know you and while the sight of you blowing up a lock is still vividly in my mind, I want you here. So please what was all that in the church last night?"
"What do you think it was?" Hope ask.
"As best as I can reason, werewolves are real I'm guessing... This is really beyond insane honestly. How would that even be possible?" Landon asks.
"Long story, it involves a vengeful witch and a bloodline curse." Alaric answers.
"I have some questions you might be able to answer as well." Alaric says.
