2 Mana Assimilation
He read his mothers' expression perfectly. He had to get ready or he would suffer for it. Obviously, he could not tell his parents that he had died and been reborn. He cleared his head of these thoughts, for now, worrying about how he came back would do him no good. He had to prepare for the future. He ran back upstairs to his room, he picked up his phone and looked at the date, it read 'May 3rd, 2016.'
The first dungeon appeared in New York City, New York, USA, on June 1st, 2017. He concluded that he had a little over a year to prepare for the dungeons. When the first dungeon appeared, it seethed mana into the world. This mana resonated with the residual mana in Earth's atmosphere. They combined and spread mana across the globe. All sorts of people felt the heavy presence of mana and unintentionally absorbed minuscule amounts. Absorbing mana from the pores of the skin would allow it to seep into the bloodstream, providing access to the heart. When the heart made contact with mana, it would spark an awakening.
Some would awaken to the ability to control fire through channeling mana through their veins. Some would gain the ability to control water the same way. All sorts of abilities popped up around the world. The men and women who awoke abilities were labeled "Espers."
Of course, as the original world was not fair, now with people having abilities, it was not fair either. One man might be able to control fires if they were already started, like moving the flame of a lighter. Another man might be able to create fires with his mana and control them the same. There were special cases, such as someone gaining the ability to heal injuries, to empower others.
Each person who had awakened, had a "system" compile itself in their brains. The system resembled a majority of games that had become popular in recent years. You could see your status, your items, among other various things.

Jordan was getting ready for school as his mother instructed. His mind, however, was wandering. If he had he came back in time, was the system able to be used? Or had it not been installed yet? There was only one way to find out.
He muttered,
"Status open."
Then, a window appeared in his vision,
[Status: Jordan Savage (Age: 20; Sex: Male) - Level 1]
[Titles: Returner]
-Vitality: 10
-Strength: 8
-Magic: 6
-Agility: 5
-Intelligence: 12
[Skills: None]
'It actually worked?' he thought to himself.
He had no idea how or why the system was working even though the dungeons haven't emerged. He thought for a minute to attempt to conclude an answer. Nothing was coming to mind. Though, it didn't really matter why. This would just help him.
Lost in his thoughts he didn't hear the footsteps approaching his door. His mother opened the door, she saw him sitting on his bed lost in a daze. She told him,
"You should be getting to school. Don't be late."
He closed the window and returned to reality. He grinned, then replied,
"I won't, I promise. I'm going now. Bye! Love you!"
Then, he bolted down the stairs and out the door.

He made it to his class just fine, it had been years since he has been there but he remembered where to go. Once he sat down and the lecture began, he started cycling the mana in his body through his veins.
When people first started cycling mana, they would start from the least to most important parts of the body. Firstly, by absorbing mana through the skin, it would improve skin condition. It would resemble a newborn baby's. However, the skin would be tougher. Basic knives would no longer be able to penetrate it.
Secondly, they would fill their veins with mana, infusing it with their blood, this would widen the veins, allowing larger amounts of mana to be stored.
Then, cycling mana into the organs would strengthen them. Making internal injuries heal faster and allow the organs to work incredibly efficiently. The brain and heart were left for last, for they were the most dangerous. One misstep and everything would be over.
What Jordan was doing, however, was madness. He first cycled mana through his heart. By going through the heart first, his mana pool would enrich. Basically, the mana that he would use, was stronger and denser. Then, he went to the brain, this would allow him to continuously cycle mana throughout his body without having to will it. It would happen subconsciously. Using magic would then become second nature to him. Moving on, to the organs, giving them the denser mana allowed even further enrichment. Finally, onto the veins. He willed the mana through them, forcefully expanding the veins. Most of the time, the veins would only widen to about twice the width. Albeit, rarely, sometimes even more. On the other hand, Jordan broke down his veins and crafted them from scratch. He created them wider and wider. Now, the amount of mana he could hold became ridiculous for a Level 1 Esper.

It hurt quite a bit at first because his body was not used to mana, and it combined with his blood and organs. It was enhancing his body beyond measure. His body became more sturdy, his organs became top quality with no impurities, and his blood began to boil.

EXPLANATION:
I have gone over this chapter a couple of times and cannot, for the life of me, get it sound exactly how I want. I believe this is good enough.
So, by Jordan infusing Mana into his heart first, the "connection" he has with mana is stronger. Thus, the mana more potent. Then, for the brain and so on.
Also, I decided to write this story on a whim. I don't have a real plan or anything like that whatsoever. I'm literally coming up with this as I go. If you have any ideas that you think would enhance the story, let me know. Thanks for reading.
