29 Time is Running Out

Despite his anxiety that Ami might be right, her concern pleased him. Martin felt comfortable with the thought that someone cared for and supported him.

"Maybe he doesn't sleep with men," he announced proudly, blushing up to the tips of his ears, "but I've been with him more than once. So maybe he accepts me and what is between us, although he usually prefers women. "

On the other hand, while having sex with him, Paxton gave the impression that he knew exactly what he was doing and how to please the man. Besides, it is not a world where someone as famous as he could afford an open homosexual relationship.

Martin didn't really know anything about Steve. A few words exchanged at work, a few hot words during sex. They didn't even have one meal together!

Still, Martin did not believe Steve had any other lover than him. Anyway, he has not seen any mention in the media of his new adventure with a model or singer recently. Maybe Martin was creating his own fantasy world, but he wanted to believe he had a chance to be with Steve.

Ami smiled at him and, stretching her arms across the table, covered his hands with hers.

"I will be with you with all my heart," she promised. "If I can do anything for you, let me know."

Her smile and touch were pleasant, but not erotic. Ami gave him the support and emotional warmth from the other person. Steve, in turn, gave him physical pleasure and spiritual anguish. Martin was ashamed to admit to himself, but he chose the pleasure of the body.

"Thank you. You've done a lot for me already. The very fact that I was able to talk to someone about it is a big help for me. Besides, you let me see some things from a different perspective. "

He smiled warmly at her. He really wished he could give her the feeling he wanted. Unfortunately, love is guided by motives known only to herself and man is unable to do anything about it.

"Oh, Martin!" He suddenly heard a familiar voice. He looked around and saw Don with… Heather. His ex-girlfriend was shamelessly clinging to her new boyfriend's shoulder. Martin felt his stomach cramp at the sight of it. He straightened, taking the hands that Ami was holding.

It wasn't that he had any feelings about Heather. At least not now. Rather, it was she who had no sincere feelings for anyone. She was beautiful, sexy, but her personality was a nightmare.

"Are you on a date with your new girlfriend?" Don continued, throwing Ami a curious look.

Unlike Martin, Ami didn't get confused. She boldly, even defiantly looked at the newly arrived couple.

"Isn't that a question too personal to ask strangers?" she noticed. "I didn't hear your names."

The Don shot her a cheeky look, but it was apparently under the influence of her eyes that he let his voice drop. Mild Ami has just turned into a mama-bear.

Don seemed stunned by Ami's bold behavior. Anyway, Martin was also very impressed. Does every woman have two personalities? Horrible! But also impressive. Don looked like he had been slapped in the face.

"I'm Don, and this is Heather," he introduced them. "We're friends of Martin."

"Ami," she announced, not mentioning the relationship between the two, but gave Martin a wonderfully sweet, seductive smile. If it weren't for the fact that his heart belonged to a man, Martin might not have remained indifferent to that smile.

Martin didn't quite know what Ami's behavior meant, but he was grateful to her. He smiled warmly at her, which clearly annoyed the couple who appeared at their table. Martin glanced at his ex-girlfriend and decided that she wasn't all that appealing or even pretty after all. Either he had looked at her through the prism of falling in love before, or his evaluation criteria had changed. Ami was a hundred times prettier.

"We will not disturb you anymore. Our table is waiting," Alston informed, and he led Heather down the hall.

"Sorry," Ami said softly, "but your buddy is so nasty. I could not resist myself."

"You were great! I usually get along with people, but I can't get along with Don. Every time he beat me on the track, he was so proud of it. I understand to be happy with the victory, but Don was just exaggerating. I'm glad I don't have anything to do with him anymore." Martin finished and reached for his drink glass.

"His girlfriend is very pretty ..."

Martin choked.

"My ex," he confessed.

Ami looked back at the couple who were just placing the order and huffed with laughter. She laughed naturally and honestly, though she tried to do it very quietly.

"What are you laughing at?" he asked confused.

"You," Ami confessed, wiping her eyes, which were filled with tears of laughter.

"Me? Why?"

But Ami was still laughing. She managed to control herself only after a while.

"Martin, you have no idea how cute you are!"

In his fight for Steve's favor, Martin already had two allies, Jack and Ami. He had no idea how he would use their help, but he was very glad to have it. There is nothing worse than dealing with your problems alone.

Though his time in this job was passing mercilessly, Martin was happy in his own way. He learned a lot, met great people and was still glad that Steve Paxton was one of them.

They shared their bodies three times, but never even had one meal together. They hadn't had a single normal conversation since their first time together. Paxton wasn't socialized with any of the mechanics, or even Jack, so he always disappeared before Martin had a chance to even have a word with him, so how could he fight for his love?

Time was running out constantly and if Martin don't do something quickly, he will eventually lose his chance. And he will regret it for the rest of his life. Therefore, he made the difficult but necessary decision to invite Steve Paxton for a beer.

Martin dressed exceptionally nicely that day. He didn't want to overdo it, he was going to work and his colleagues would have laughed at him if he had come dressed as for a date or for church, but he carefully searched the wardrobe before settling on today's outfit. He didn't manage to go shopping, but he found something comfortable and quite okay. Even if he manages to go out with Steve for a beer, it won't be a date. They were not yet at this stage (although they had already passed the next stage long ago).

Of course, even getting close to Steve to have a few words with him won't be easy. Mechanics always had a lot of work, and Steve went his own way like a cat. Martin decided to start with a short "Can we talk?"

Unfortunately, from the morning there was such a stir in the stable that Martin did not even have a chance to get close to Paxton within a speaking distance.

The results of the tests in which Martin participated turned out to be successful and the manufacturer provided them with new equipment for a symbolic price. It was necessary to install the equipment permanently and to take a few more test measurements, although this time it was possible without the need for Martin to take the track. The boy was relieved, but also disappointed. Although he knew he would never be a racing driver and he really loved being a mechanic, somewhere in his heart there was a spark of longing for the track and for racing. Especially since his last experience of racing Steve was so exciting and ended in such an amazing way.

Martin smiled at the mere mention. This time, Steve didn't leave. This time Steve came not only within him but also with him. This time there was something a little more between them than just wild, sudden sex.

The mechanic, however, had to discard these memories and deal with the current affairs of the stable. In all the chaos of his work, he didn't even have a moment to waste it on fantasies and dreams. Especially since there was completely new information. A new third driver has arrived!

Martin was curious only for a moment. If he hadn't been working here for the second month, he'd probably be more excited to hear about the new racing driver. Now, however, after establishing a friendship with Jack Lambert and after all those adventures with Steve Paxton, a third driver, novice in professional racing, did not impress him. He didn't even care what his name was.

Besides, other mechanics didn't show much interest either. Everyone did their job and no one had time to deal with some pointless excitement about the new driver. If he will be with them permanently, they will manage to get to know him from the worst side. If he will be with them for a short time, it makes no sense to bother with him.

The only person who got bored that day was Jack Lambert. He was still not allowed to strain his leg, so he wandered around the stalls aimlessly, pretending to be interested in new equipment. He looked through the mechanics' hands and nodded at the readings and monitors, but in fact you could see he was eager to get in the car and get on the track. He also looked a little nervous.
