Intro

Kate stood silently in the middle of the vast galaxy. Her lips were pursed as she lowered her head, silently communicating with the 'system' that was still babbling inside her mind.

"So that's it, Host." The system's voice sounded inside her head, and Kate even heard a faint trace of guilt in its tone.

"You mean..." Kate's gentle voice echoed as her hidden dark eyes flickered, looking at the familiar background beneath her feet.

She tilted her head as she continued to speak, "I'm dead?" Kate asked.

But it was as if she wasn't asking since she was already very certain that she was dead.

"Yes! Yes, you are, Host!" The system, thinking it seemed too excited about expressing that Kate was dead, fell silent for a moment.

As the system in Kate's head weakly repeated, "Yes, you are dead, Host."

Kate did not mind the system's awkwardness as she crouched down gently and poked the glass, confirming her doubts that it was really 'real'.

Her lips opened as she asked once again, her eyes very quiet. "Then is this the heaven that they were talking about? Or..." Kate paused, her dark eyes flickering once again before she asked, "Is this the hell that they were talking about?" Kate's tone was very gentle, not flirtatious at all, even if she said those words.

It was as if she did not care whether she was put in heaven or hell.

Well... In her years of writing some unspeakable things, it seemed that she was not suitable to go to heaven. No matter how gentle she was.

"Of course, this is not heaven or hell, Host! This is a space where all Hosts can have a second chance and be reborn into their own world once again!" the system hurriedly said, at a loss for words after what Kate said.

Kate pursed her lips into a thin line as she continued to play with the glass at her feet.

"Oh?" Kate gently raised her eyebrows as she made a sound once again, clearly not interested in what the system in her mind said.

The system in her mind was at a loss, even more so with her lack of interest.

It wiggled its fluffy body, trying to be flattering as it said, "Can you please do some tasks now, Host?" The system asked, a little bit hopeful that Kate would agree.

"Okay," was Kate's short response.

"If you don't want to do it, just think about having to experience something novel." The system, after finally digesting what Kate said, stopped talking.

Its big doe eyes widened, and its mouth stayed ajar. "Did you just agree, Host?" The system asked, clearly in disbelief that Kate, notoriously known for being gentle but not really committed to doing anything, had readily agreed to its request.

It involuntarily appeared in front of Kate's eyes in its usual physical cloud form.

Kate did not notice anything wrong with what the system said.

As she slowly raised her head and looked at the system that suddenly appeared in front of her, she reached out and took the fluffy cloud in her arms, squeezing it as if the fluffy cloud in her arms was a jelly.

"Yes," Kate's short response came once again.

The system was not bothered anymore by Kate squeezing it, as it was happy enough that Kate really wanted to do some tasks after confirmation.

"Then I'll be sending you to your first plane, Host, good luck!" The system said with a cute voice as Kate's consciousness suddenly turned dark for a moment before she found herself in a completely different place.

Ding!

"Your task is to save the male lead from destroying the space. The plot will be transmitted to you later. I'm rooting for you, Host! Come on!" The system's voice became even more silent as time passed.

Kate, who was suddenly transported into a completely different place and even wearing such weird yet familiar clothing, flickered her gentle, dark eyes as she looked at the person who appeared before her feet with a thud.

"Please spare me, Your Highness! This servant really didn't do it!" A cry of a servant was soon heard.

Kate gently knitted her brows after hearing this scream. But it was not very gentle in the eyes of the people present as they looked at her in horror.

'Was it ancient times?' These words were said quietly inside her mind.

Scenes flooded her mind.

She slowly massaged her temple as she dismissed the people who were still kowtowing on the ground, desperately hoping that Kate would hear their pleas, and the people who were clearly waiting on her side fearfully.

Kate silently digested the plot inside her head.

Then she opened her eyes again.

For the first time, her lips opened as she asked the system, probably hiding in the corner of her consciousness, in disbelief, "System... Am I in my book right now?" Kate quietly asked.

Her heart made a silent thump.

The system that was suddenly asked just after the task started excitedly bared its tiger teeth as it smiled and answered Kate's doubts.

"Yes! You are currently in your own story, Host. Strive to save your male leads, Host! This system right here is rooting for you!" The system happily said as it once again disappeared into Kate's mind but was really huddling its fluffy body in the corner of Kate's dark consciousness.

It couldn't help it.

Since the body it found for its Host to possess was not really in a favorable situation.

Kate's pursed lips opened slightly, her eyes flickering as she took a look at her surroundings, recognizing the familiar things in this room.

Kate concluded... that she was the spoiled princess of the Zhou Dynasty about to be kidnapped in the third chapter by the male lead. And it seemed that it was the second half of the second chapter now.

"It seems that you wanted me to fail at the first task," Kate lightly commented to her system while pulling off her gorgeous gown slightly.

The system, knowing it had done wrong, tearfully looked at Kate, who was accusing it, but it couldn't bear to talk, so it stayed silent, aggrieved.

Kate sighed.

There was nothing she could do right now.

It had already happened, and it seemed like a bit of a hassle to find another body to possess now.

She would just make do with this body... for once.

There will never be a second time.

The system hiding in Kate's consciousness shivered, perceiving a dangerous breath exuding from his Host's body.

Huhu.

His Host, even though gentle, is very scary sometimes.
