30 Rebuilding Our Life Again

"Are you sure?" Xue Qing, the second female lead, asked in a worried tone. Her nails dug into her palms as she bit down hard on her lips.

"I'm sure. We're already at the last stage. If I don't test it, who will? I'm confident that it will work." Lei Zemin stroked her flushed cheeks and wiped away the tears.

They have developed an anti-zombie vaccine 2 years after Zhong Guang woke up. At this moment, they needed to inject it in a living person and let them get bit by a zombie. If that person did not turn and possess side effects after two months of observation, the vaccine could be considered a success. As a person highly involved with the vaccine development, Changming was there to witness the results.

Everyone held their breath as they watched the injected Lei Zemin walk inside the observation room. This room was recently cleaned and prepared with all essentials equipments to live for 2 months. Inside the corner of the room was a tied-up evolved zombies, the researchers needed to know if it could repel against a stronger zombies.

Lei Zemin slowly walked toward the zombie. He raised his forearm near the groaning mouth without hesitation

Lei Zemin clenched his teeth to suppress his cry of pain. Blood dripped down from his elbow. He used his palm to push the zombie's forehead to let it let go of his forearm.

Three minutes passed. Thirty minutes passed. One hour passed. Outside and inside the observation was in complete silence.

"There are no signs of turning. This is a good sign." Changming crossed his arms while examining Lei Zemin's condition slowly. "I will go now, please continue observing him."

The researchers heavily gulped their saliva. They felt like crying, their hearts felt like swelling, their whole bodies were trembling. The vaccine was working! Even if it was only the first day, they felt like a month had already passed. Hope returned to those dull and lifeless eyes. Their research was not for nothing.

After the 2 months of observation, no signs or side effects were spotted. The base immediately announced to the world that they had successfully developed a vaccine. The world rejoiced at this achievement. Changming demanded the distribution of the vaccine would be free of charge to stabilize the apocalypse faster.

As people became immune to zombie infection, they began to take back their homes without fear. The number of zombies started to dwindle more and more.

Even so, there were still the problem about food supplies. Plants and animals had mutated which made them inedible no matter which part they tried to eat. Changming wanted to use his blood to help again but was stopped by Zhong Guang. The man said that he already did enough with the vaccine, no need for more. Changming felt like this one was reverting back to Ren Jian's personality instead of the heroic characteristics.

Thankfully, Changming could provide non-mutated seeds to a plant ability and dirt ability users to experiment. It was also successful and the problem of food were solved. As for the life stocks, they managed to find some non-mutated ones and used a modified vaccine for animals. The problem was also solved smoothly.

Due to no more people turning into zombies even if they were bitten, they started dispersing from their respective base and all went back to their home. Changming, Zhong Guang and Xiao Feng managed to find a good place to settle down.

As the world started stabilizing, jobs became available again. Changming and Zhong Guang applied for normal jobs and lived a happy life together.

Zhong Guang never healed his face because he had all the confidence in world as long as Changming was with him. Changming assured him that no matter what appearance they were in, they would always love each other.

The moment the vaccine was made, Changming could feel the world energy escaping. This world plot collapsed due to the peaceful days. The original plot, there were no vaccines with Changming gone, male lead and female lead continued to be a power couple in the apocalypse world. He slowly absorbed the world energy while spending the life in this world.

Xiao Feng grew up beautifully and met a nice boy. Changming and Zhong Guang attended their wedding, both felt very emotional at the growth of their beloved family. She later gave birth three cute kids which made Changming dote on them a lot. Changming really liked kids, he always had a soft spot for their round eyes.

"Don't you think they are adorable?" Changming cradled his youngest niece with adoring eyes.

"Do you want one for ourselves?" Zhong Guang wrapped his arm around Changming's waist and gave a light kiss on his cheek.

"What are you saying?! How can we have one?!" Changming shot a glare at the male lead. He felt a premonition.

They kept living a peaceful life until the zombies no longer presented on Earth. Because of Changming's great contribution to the world's peace, he was a shining figure in the future history books with Zhong Guang dubbed as his protector.

On their death beds, they promised to find each other in the next life again. Both passed away at the same time in each other arms.

The mass of light felt incredibly refreshed after retrieving the energy of the world. Even his soul state started to shape up, he could make out his hand somewhat.
