22 Chapter 22. Bizarre Surprises

Ash planned to see his murderer's face and then take bloody revenge, but his plans went up in smoke thanks to the other party's super cautious or cowardly nature, who was unwilling to take any risk with his life. Until the cooldown of 10 seconds ended, the culprit remained unseen.

"F*ck! Haah, haah, haah, What the hell? Did I die so brutally without seeing my killer's face? When did villains become so smart and cautious? Don't they like to give a nonsense speech before killing their victim to boost their own ego? This world logic is so f*cking bizarre."

After getting his head crushed under a big rock like a watermelon, Ash, Loaded The File No. 1, and returned to the morning, while panting heavily with shock and disbelief. But this only lasted for a few seconds before Ash shook his head and calmed down before removing the big blood "GAME OVER" notification log floating before him.

"Whoever set that trap and threw the rock at my face, I will find him and beat him to death, at least enough so that he doesn't get up from the bed for an entire year," Ash angrily roared and hammered his fist on the bed. But what made him even more frustrated was that he had to repeat an entire morning again, because of his carelessness or laziness; he forgot to save the file in the afternoon, and the last saved file was from this morning.

"Damn it."

After venting his anger on the poor pillow, Ash quickly finished his daily activities such as attending to nature's call, taking a bath, and eating breakfast with Linda and James, following the already known script, which was quite funny and interesting, since he knows what other party going to say or do next.

Back at Jacob's farm, he again endured Jacob's pointless instructions and saw him running away in fear while talking about Linda, but those were minor things and Ash ignored them. What he cared most about now was that damn bastard who killed him like a bug.

"90, 91, okay, everyone is here, which means that damn thief hasn't come here yet. This time I won't let him play with me... I wonder why he needs to steal sheep. I mean, according to Grandma Linda, there are many wild fruit trees in the forest, and they can easily be found if one looks carefully. The chance of dying from hunger is extremely low in this world, so why is he taking such a big risk? Is he that fond of meat, or does he sell the sheep to someone else?" Ash muttered confusedly. He couldn't understand the thought process of that thief. Although in a backward world where productivity is very low and it's not easy to find a job except in the army, there are still many ways to earn money. Didn't he also come to this town yesterday and already have two easy jobs?

...

Baaa!!!

"Finally, here. If he had waited for some more time, I might have literally fallen asleep from boredom."

Just after hearing the sheep cry right opposite his direction, Ash hurriedly ran toward the sound. Again, like last time, he entered the same dense forest, but this time he didn't forget to save the file first. After all, although it looked cool to repeat everything, unless you have something particularly interesting to do all day, like messing with your girlfriend or someone else, in a backward world where entertainment options can be counted on one finger, this is not a nice experience at all.

Remembering his last hard-to-forget painful experiences, this time instead of running recklessly like an idiot, Ash adopted a more cautious approach and carefully scanned the path for any signs of tampering or potential traps. Any suspicious place that showed signs of being modified and potential traps. He quickly moved away from it, no matter if it was a trap or not.

Being very cautious, Ash followed the sound, which was getting nearer and nearer. He soon arrived at his destination. He concealed himself behind a dense bush, which completely concealed his body, while peering out at the scene before him with a hint of anger and grudging understanding.

In front of Ash was a circular meadow within the forest. At its centre lay a rudimentary campsite featuring a rock stove, a makeshift bed of grass and leaves, and a pillow and blanket fashioned from sheepskin and wool. Despite the rough stitching, they served their purpose.

To the left of the stove stood Ash's missing sheep, tethered to a wooden post with a rope, and beside the sheep stood a small one-meter-tall bald humanoid green creature with an ugly face and pointy ears. He wore only a small leather cloth on his crotch area, showing his not-slightly muscular body.

F*ck! I was killed by a goblin again? This is the second time in the past three days. When did goblins become so smart? Not only does he know how to set up traps and be extremely cautious in dealing with his prey, but he also knows how to work alone. Compared to him, the goblin impression I had from books and games seems like a completely different species. They don't look like this at all. If not for his pointed ears and green skin, I would even wonder if he is a dwarf, Ash thought with shock and confusion, while watching the little goblin meticulously selecting a sharp rock from a pile, presumably to slaughter the sheep for dinner. Clearly getting a good weapon is still not easy for a goblin, not even a smart one.

Now what should I do? Do I try to fight with him or go back and inform Uncle Jacob, but then my favorability in his eyes might not increase much, and in future, my chance of getting any other quest from him might also reduce since he probably doesn't think me capable enough, after all, an adult guy who couldn't even defeat a single goblin, is no different then coward in eyes of everyone, After all, this is world where human and goblins had war all the time. Also even if I go back now, until I come with enforcement that poor sheep probably went on the journey of another world, and there is a high chance that goblin ran away as well. Having too many people definitely made a lot of notice, and if they didn't catch the goblin red hand, there is also the possibility that they doubted me that I was playing a prank on them, after all, without evidence, everything else can't be provoked.

Sigh, seems like there is no other way, I have to deal with this guy myself, anyway, in the end, I have to become a killer if I want to increase my levels soon or later, so it is better to make early preparation and accumulate some battle experiences, so later I won't suffer too much. Worst case, I get extremely wounded or die which is not a big deal anyway, Thinking such Ash made up his mind to have the first real life-and-death battle in his two lives.

But first, let me save the file, so even if something unexpected happens which is inevitable, or I want to restart, I don't have to run all the way here again, running in the dense forest is really not a pleasant experience. Those bastards in movies made it so simple but in real life everything is difficult as hell, Cursing the filmmakers who romanticized forest traversal as easy as eating and drinking, Ash took a deep breath and saved the file while adjusting his mentality.
