Chapter One: How Did it Turn Out Like This?

It's a quiet day, with the sound of birds chirping, and the sound of a breeze going through the trees.

But, it was clashing with the sounds of zippers closing, and footsteps thumping. In my mind, i think—

"How did it turn out like this?"

I only wanted to protect them, how did i-

Then suddenly, a knock on the door.

— "Who's there?" i say in a quiet voice, almost like i didn't speak at all.

"It's me." after i heard who it was, i walk to the door and open it— It was my mother. "Are you done?" She says, as she looks into my room.

I reply saying no. Simply because i still had a few clothes to put.

— By this time, you probably have a hunch on what's happening. To clarify, yes. I am moving. But, it's only me. My parents will stay here, because of the current jobs. Although i do have a sister, she's too young to go. So, that's why.

"Okay, well, be quick, Ember. Your father is waiting outside."

"Yes mom.."

— The atmosphere of the room- no, the whole house was akward. It was very quiet.

I put my things in my bag, quickly but neatly. I didn't need to bring all of my furniture, since i was going to a place that was already nicely furnished.

With that, i was ready to go downstairs. Though i was afraid to go. I had to do it.
