The Council of Beasts
It was an odd situation really. Ja Sun, had he been slightly more sensitive and simply more good-natured, would have comforted his team by saying that the massive crowd of beasts with cultivation greater than 100000 years was more intimidated by the 'partners' of the Beast God than they should be of the beasts. But... nah, he was a prick and he embraced that personality trait by letting both the party stew in their own thoughts while petting Xiao Wu's head who was on her lap without batting an eyelash.
Petting Xiao Wu had become a form of ritual for both, the petter and the pettee. Of course, that didn't stop the giant Titan Ape and the Sky Bull Azure Python to glare in their God's direction as they saw their... unfortunately, friend, enjoying time with someone else. Such has become their life...
Of course, those who had taken human forms got a seat for themselves but mostly, beasts of various shapes and sizes towered at the moment. Bibi Dong observed everything. It has only been three days since her arrival and she had too little information as to why a clueless pink-topped harlot was on her man's lap enjoying... pats, why a similar-looking but far mature spirit beast turned human woman looked at the union with such bliss and envy, and finally...

Bi Ji replied calmly, giving Bibi Dong a first-hand experience into the perspective of spirit beasts. No doubt, there were more important factors than just respect for strength but Bibi Dong was quite sure that Ja Sun's hold over this sudden Empire was quite firm... which would only play to their advantage. He didn't like responsibility... for some reason he had yet to share. But Bibi Dong wouldn't be herself if she didn't eagerly share this responsibility with her husband-to-be.
"Yeah, you all can stop staring at them. They're just humans like you're just beasts," Ja Sun yawned out of boredom, "But do remember I won't tolerate any serious battle between the two of you until all of my teammates reach the level of Titled Douluos... after that, you guys can go crazy. Hmm, next order of business then. Your God is about to marry... and given that Di Tian never did, you can be relieved that I am the more responsible of the two of us."
His news stunned everyone including Zi Ji, Bi Ji, Xiao Bei, Violet, and Ja Yin. He hadn't shared this news with them either but before Ja Sun's humble believers could even begin to process what he had unleashed, he ruffled Xiao Wu's hair playfully, causing her to pout and huff through her nostrils and supplanting, "And in that light of responsibility... my soon-to-be wives will be the one overseeing the war. Isn't that great? I'm a god who fulfills the martial responsibility and knows how to delegate!
Ah... but I expect good gifts from the lot of you. It's not like I'll be marrying often so the gifts must be impeccable, yes. Hmm, and someone should go and invite the stuck-up Snow Empress in the north and do tell her to bring gifts, too... Say, Bi Ji, should we invite some acquaintance from the ocean?"

"About that," Ja Sun touched his chin, "Actually, let this be known to everyone here. I don't mind if you're looking for a romp or something else. But do find someone more appropriate to propagate, right? Even if I'm the Beast God and a willing one at that, my best consultant suggested that humans and spirit beasts don't really mix well down there... but of course, if we ever get serious, do think of turning into a human."
It is only Ja Sun who would suggest the council of the top-tier spirit beasts who have lived for more than 100000 years to turn into a human so that they could sleep with him... but then again, it takes a sense of boldness and recklessness to reach this stage in the manner he did.
"Beast God Out," Ja Sun waved his hand, disappearing from the crowd alongside Xiao Wu while Ja Yin was stunned speechless. She, of course, knew who this consultant Ja Sun talked about was. The Lady in the Lake... but if what Ja Sun said was true... then even Ja Yin had to grow more thoughtful about it than to act on her instincts.
"Responsible, my feathered ass!" Bi Ji scowled and whispered, something Bibi Dong heard but couldn't refute against.
Ja Sun literally dipped out after the announcement as Bi Ji went up to the region where Ja Sun once sat and cleared her throat before making appropriate announcements.
Of course, she was quick-witted enough to state some semblance of the truth before she actually breached the major topic that Ja Sun wanted everyone known.
"Ehm, as you've seen... Beast God is mighty busy while preparing for his wedding," She shed a tear internally knowing full well he'd be currently playing tag with Xiao Wu while all the actual preparations of the wedding would be left to her, "And he blesses our side of the war with capable leaders who can make informed decisions due to their experience with humanity. Everyone of us here knows full well of his capabilities. Many of us, nay, all of us experienced it first hand. He is kind when he wishes to be, he is lackadaisical when his heart desires, and right now... he does find this war a venture worthy of his investment in many forms and manner."
Bibi Dong had to say... she was impressed by Bi Ji. Bi Ji reminded everyone of Yuehua... and Zi Ji reminded them of Erlong. Maybe the two types of people are meant to be together... and then bullied by him.
But if Bi Ji is as good at clerical work as her speech then Oscar, Xie Xan, and Yuehua were looking at their new deskmate for all the paperwork soon enough.
Beasts don't do paperwork?
Bibi Dong sneered internally. Her Empire will be one of education and sure, she didn't mind having at least the 100000-year-old beasts become more literate. In fact, after Bibi Dong has been exposed to the spirit souls, she knew full well that killing Spirit Beasts is simply one of the dumber things she could do at this point, and honestly, a thought of foolishness.
All beasts must graduate vedic mathematics at the very least to be of some use to her... and Yuehua might need to tutor beasts in etiquettes. Especially a few beasts with greater internal drive like Goblins... if they wanna breed, then breed. No need to be crass about it, right?
Bibi Dong's future plans came to a halt when Bi Ji called out, "And I hope that every one of us will at least not act like children when the Beast God's trusted people are introducing their intentions. Sister Bibi Dong, I am sure you are concerned about the prospects of war lingering and you may discuss everything here."
Bibi Dong stood up and looked towards the many beasts as she walked and reached beside Bi Ji. Instead of speaking, she decided to gaze at every one of the beasts in their original body or their human forms.
She had many, many thoughts. Quite honestly, it was a cluster cluck inside her head but Bibi Dong knew that like everything, she would need to progress with measures steps. And unlike Ja Sun who simply appeared and forcefully made himself their leader, which she would have done too if she had the strength, she knew that a different approach was necessary. Of their team... quite honestly, only Bibi Dong held the ambitions to rule and she felt fortunate that others around her were supportive of it. Everyone wanted something from their life and while a familial life was quite enticing and was right around the corner, Bibi Dong also wanted her life to be... busy.
It's simply more interesting this way.
"I'm an outsider and a human no less... but I'm not too alienated from spirit beasts when it comes to my heritage." The proper politician she was, Bibi Dong conducted herself sincerely and stated with a serious expression, "My father... was a Death Spider Emperor who had turned human, and my mother was a descendant of a Soul Devouring Spider Emperor that had turned human. Within me flows the heritage and blood of not one but two spirit beasts."
From Ja Sun revealing his real identity, to Ah Yin exposing her origins, and Jun'er reporting her pregnancy... the group was quite numb at this point. Heck, they were annoyed at Bibi Dong largely that she would so easily use a more sensitive origin of her and throw it out to the masses just to raise her political agenda amongst the spirit beasts in one go!
"But, I am also a human. More than that. I am the spiritual leader of all spirit masters outside this forest. My fiance, the Beast God, is revered by you all and he is more beast than a human... but we're all connected by threads of fate. I understand humans, and I've come to understand spirit beasts. No, I won't promise peace. That's a lie. Peace isn't needed amongst spirit beasts."
"Who amongst you mighty powers actually reached your strength with peace?" Bibi Dong released her slaughter intent as Bi Ji flinched, feeling personally attacked.
"Who amongst you have not fought humans?"
"Who amongst you don't already realize that whether it is humans or spirit beasts, we're alike. We crave strength! WE TAKE!"
Bibi Dong's voice filled a region of King's Lair not far from the Emerald Lake as all beasts grew silent. Even Xiao Bei had gone through tribulations of her own to reach her current stage. No one here, including Bi Ji, can actually refute the fact that... in one way or another, they DO take.
Everyone of them.
"Spirit rings for humans. Naturals treasures and flesh for spirit beasts... heh, and here I am. The mix of the two."
Bibi Dong shook her head, releasing a sigh while her teammates held back the urge to roll their eyes at their Supreme Pontiff's acting.
"I am also now torn by the sides of the war! I swear to my Fiance's name, Beast God Ja Sun, that I will protect this forest. I will lead you to the most satisfying victory with the most minimal loss!"
'Can't just try to stomp on the pride of the beasts when I'm just an outsider at the moment, hehe, may as well use my darling's name~!'
Bibi Dong could see many beast's expressions turning solemn.
She needed to discuss a lot of things to form her plans and forge an Empire even greater than her master intended, an Empire that was beyond the scope of humanity!
Now, she is at the side of the individuals who started the war. She is at the side of the individuals constantly rushing to occupy vegetation!
Oh, what a sweet feeling of control this is!
