2.5 Years Later

Artemis physically grew at the same rate as other children her age, but her intellect outpaced them by far. She was smart to the point where kids twice her age could not keep up with her. When Artemis should have been attending preschool, she was instead attending second grade classes. Because of the rapid intellectual development, Damien decided that she would not attend school directly and instead he would hire tutors that would be able to homeschool her and meet her specific needs. Of course, he would take her decisions into consideration as well.

"Daddy, I want to learn languages. I know that you have helped me learn Korean and English these past few years, but there are so many different languages out there. I would like to learn a few more!" Artemis had already learned to manipulate Damien through her actions. She acted coquettishly and had large puppy dog eyes that Damien could not say no to.

"Okay! What languages do you want to learn?" Damien also knew multiple world languages. He knew Korean, English, Hindi, Kannada, Russian, German, Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese and French. He needed to learn languages in order to expand his business operations and he did not trust interpreters.

"Can I learn Japanese and Hindi? I would like to visit India and Japan like you have in the past Daddy! Next time you have a business trip, you must take me with you!" Artemis understood roughly what Damien did for work.

"Haha! Okay. Next time I need to travel to Japan or India, I will bring you along!" Damien consented. He knew that the more he exposed her to now, the more she would be willing to learn. There were things that he didn't want her to learn about, like her father, but those would be topics for when she was older.

Artemis already knew that Damien wasn't her biological father, but she never brought it up. Damien was an Indian, while she was a Korean American. However, it didn't matter to her. She cared for Damien just like a real father because that is what he treated her as: his real daughter. She also knew that Damien often looked at a picture of a Korean woman and cried in his study. It looked like he was reminiscing about what could have been. "Daddy, I'll always be here for you!"

"Oh really? Thank you, Artemis! I know I can always count on you!" Damien smiled. Artemis was thoughtful and tactful. He made a promise to Victoria and he fully intended to keep it. "Let me ask Alfred to arrange some tutors for you in Japanese and Hindi. How is your math coming along?"

"I'm doing okay with it, but I fear that my current tutors aren't enough. I've already mastered arithmetic and they aren't willing to go beyond that for now," Artemis pouted. She had been studying arithmetic for only 3 months and she already felt that she had mastered it. Alfred walked into Artemis's play room where they were.

"Haha! Really? Alfred, before you look for the Japanese and Hindi tutors, please call over the resident math tutors for now. I need to discuss something with them," Damien requested.

"Of course, sir."

In a few minutes, Chris and Alethia came into the play room.

"Sir, were you looking for us?" Chris asked for both of them. They had been hired 3 months ago to teach a young toddler how to do math. They were astounded when they realized that it was a serious job.

"Is it true that Artemis has mastered arithmetic?" Damien asked curiously.

"I would say that she is able to handle most all of it without a paper now," Alethia spoke up. Chris glared at her from the side. If they said that she was able to do arithmetic already, then what use would there be for them? There contract was originally a lucrative 1 year deal, but it did have stipulations where if the student they were working with could be considered as having passed their lessons, their services would no longer be necessary.

"Hmm, Artemis, you are much faster than I expected! Good for you. Should I bring in the geometry tutors next?" Damien asked Artemis. He knew she wanted to continue to progress and not just keep treading the same knowledge over and over.

"Uh sir, does that mean that you will be terminating your contract with us?" Chris was impatient to know if he had lost his job because of a child that was too smart.

"Did you just interrupt me when I am talking with my daughter?" The temperature dropped below zero instantly. Damien doted on his daughter and hated when people interrupted him when he was having a conversation. "Alfred, rescind his salary as per the contract. Alethia, do you have anything you would like to add?"

"No…no, sir," Alethia timidly replied.

"What? You can rescind my entire salary! So, you are telling me that I worked for free for the past 3 months? You b*stard!" Chris was furious. He decided that he needed to get his renumeration even if he had to take someone hostage. He leaped towards Artemis as Damien's face changed drastically.
