Chapter 2: Queen of England

Princess Sophie of Windsor, Princess of Wales. Heir Apparent to the Throne of England.

I've reincarnated into a body of a modern day Princess. At the same time something's off.

In my past life, the Royal Family was totally different. There was no "Princess of Wales" but it was a Prince. Princess Sophie did not exist either.

I honestly don't know, everything's different from what I knew. Apart from it, everything seems to be perfectly fine.

I was not a British in my past life so I will have to adjust if I want to live a normal life here. I'm no longer 'Rose' I'm now living a new life as 'Sophie'.

and I suddenly remembered I saw a phone when I woke up. I went to my bed and took it.

"Ah, its nine already"

It's been an hour since the ladies-in-waiting entered. I told them to let me rest for an hour more since I don't feel good, but they entered with my breakfast and told me to eat and call them if something's wrong.

I've finished my meal, so it's time to take a look at my phone. Thankfully it did not have a password, or else I won't know how to open this phone.

I swiped and the phone opened, I browsed through the apps and opened a social media app with a bird icon on it.

"Oh my"

I have a LOT of followers! Like, it's exactly 7 million! Of course I'm famous since I'm a Princess, so this what it feels to be a Princess huh.

Several minutes passed as I found a lot of funny videos in my feed, this body's previous owner seems to loved funny cat videos huh.

The posts were all adorable. Until, my feed seemed strange.

'I haven't talked to my online friends from America since like yesterday? Is there a problem on my telecom service or something?!'

'I was in the middle of a call with my brother and it suddenly cut off? And I can't even call him back! Is something wrong with the cell towers?'

Strange. It seems like people haven't been able to contact people wirelessly. And it seems to affect foreign interactions only, domestic communication seems to be perfectly fine.

A cyber attack? But what would the attackers benefit from cutting us off from the world? Perhaps it was economically motivated? But if it was, it would jeopardize the world economy. The United Kingdom has a huge role in the Global Market. London is one of the financial capitals of the world, having us cut off form the world for a moment is like triggering an economic depression.

Anyways, this kind of event rarely happens to be honest. But it's not impossible, whatever. I shall meet the Queen this afternoon.

While browsing through my phone, someone knocked to the door.

"You May come in"

"Your Highness, the Queen requests an audience with you in the Chinese Luncheon Room for Afternoon Tea"

"Very well, tell Her Majesty I will go exactly as she said"

"As you wish, Your Highness"

The lady-in-waiting then left the room.

Oh my gosh, I am not totally familiar with court etiquette. You see? I was just a commoner! how am I supposed to act like an elegant noblelady in a day?

For starters, it's common sense that straight posture, proper body communication and confidence is key.

I hope this meeting should be fine, I'm totally nervous.

Afternoon came, with the help of my personal attendant named Marie. She gave me a quick lesson on court etiquette and my formal court attire.

"Are you sure you're fine, Your Highness?"

"No, I'm actually .. nervous"

"Your Highness, lift your head up. Be more confident and proud of yourself."

She's right, being nervous wont do anything. I have to take this on by myself.

"Thank you Marie, I'm a Princess of this country. I should be more proud of myself"

"I'm grateful for those words, Your Highness"

This is kind of.. a deja vu.

I stood up confidently, and walked towards the door elegantly. Like a Princess would do.

Minutes later, I finally arrived in the room. I have my formal greetings and sat in front of the Queen.

We were... quiet. The Queen and I were sipping our tea. It was kind of.. awkward.

After a few minutes, the Queen finally had the urge to talk.

"What a beautiful weather today, don't you agree Sophie?"

"Ah.. Yes, Your Majesty."

"Don't be so stiff, I'm your mother and we are not in the presence of our subjects."

Ah.. right. We were talking privately, so I guess talking to her informally is fine.

"Understood"

Her Majesty, Queen Charlotte. My grandmother and the Queen of this country for half a century already. She's a woman in her 80's and she's still healthy.

"You seem to be more mature recently, I like that"

"Pardon?"

"Nevermind"

It was another period of awkwardness as neither of us had the courage to talk. But I suddenly had the idea to break this silence.

"Your Majesty? May I know why.. why is it that connections with foreign countries cut off? Was it a cyberattack? I saw people earlier on social media panicking because of this, I totally fear a panic in the masses."

The Queen looked calm after my question.

"Oh my, my Sophie seems to be interested in politics now too! Your mother is happy with this."

"Thank you for the compliments, Your Majesty, but you avoided my question. May I please know why?"

The Queen suddenly had a serious face.

"Ok, I'm pretty sure everyone will know it sooner anyways since it's impossible to hide it from everyone anyway."

Hide it? Now I'm getting confused.

"Our country got transported, early this morning we had a report from several government agencies and found the culprit. The Admiralty was tasked to survey the surrounding areas and Calais was nowhere to be found. Further surveys by the RAF two hours ago confirmed presence of human civilization south of the country."

"You seemed shocked.. but it's expected. This never happened before in Human History"

Yes, I'm really shocked. But I already experienced being reincarnated so this is nothing. However, that's not the point.

I was reincarnated into a Novel. The Novel "The King of Glory". And I was.. a supporting character.
