Sword of Lycoris Part 9

After a few minutes Rhys brought her to the couch, the distance between the bed and the couch was large. But the walk there felt very short, before she knew it he had already let go of her hand.

However the moment he sat down on the couch, he looped his arms around her. Ah, she suddenly feels a bit nervous. It was difficult eating in this situation but the food smelled apitezing. After taking one bit Lyn continued to eat.

"What were you doing before I came in just now?"

"Oh, I was looking at my swords. I really do need another one in the fight against Jen."

"What type of sword would you like?"

"Hmm." Lyn trailed off and thought for a moment. The entire time she has been thinking about getting another sword, but has never considered her own preferences. A sword that she would like, the image of a gorgeous orange coloured sword appears in her head.

Lyn clapped her hands. "I want one like Pupilliams."

"Like Pupilliam-" Rhys repeated with a frown.

"I know it's not possible, Pupilliam told me her sword was made from materials from the northern mountain region."

"Actually it might not be impossible." Rhys trailed off. "When I was doing my inspections on the harbour earlier. I heard rumors of a legendary sword that has no colour, the colour will only manifest when the true owner shows up. This legendary sword was supposedly made from rare materials."

"Could it be from the northern mountain region?"

Rhys lips curved to a smile as he pressed a kiss on her temple. "Correct. If you obtain that sword, I am sure you can manifest it into something similar to Pupilliam's."

Her eyes brightened. She didn't think it would be possible. Her phoenix sword matches Rhys, her beloved and this new sword. She wants it to match with her second most important person. But the northern mountain region is so far.

Unfortunately after her stunt of leaving the Mist Kingdom, the security around her has increased. It won't be easy to slip ou- Lyn's gaze fell on Rhys and she clung to his arm.

"Rhys, can I bribe you?" Lyn asked as innocently as she could.

"You can do whatever you wish."

A good bribe would be, Lyn's cheeks coloured but she bravely wrapped her arms around his neck and then kissed him. The look of surprise on Rhys face after she pulled away made her feel embarrassed. She wanted nothing more than to look away, however her gaze remained firmly on him.

"Is that enough payment?" Even as she spoke her words were shaky and she was trembling due to the nerves. This must be the first time since five years ago where she is the one who willingly made the move.

Rhys blinked and then laughed as he brushed his nose to hers. "It will never be enough."

Lyn covers her face with her hands and moves away from him causing Rhys to laugh more.

"Lyn, if you don't want to do anything tonight we don't have to."

"What if I want to?" Lyn mumbled.

"Then we shall, but let's talk about our plans for the next few days first."

"Our plans?"

She didn't realise how much she liked hearing the words 'our' escape Rhys lips.

"Yes, after all I will be going with you to the North."

Lyn blinked hearing those words. Huh? Going together to the north?

"Don't look so surprised. You know you won't be able to go without an escort."

"No, that's not it. I just don't think I will be able to leave due to that stunt I pulled."

"You will be surprised. I actually overheard the elders saying that you should see with your own eyes the damage that had increased due to your absence."

Her sweat fell hearing those words. She supposes that is like them.

"Then, you will be coming with me?"

Rhys nodded. "I'll be your Knight for the day."

Her Knight huh? That's right, so much has happened since she came to the Kingdom. But, the only reason why Rhys agreed to come along was because they made an agreement that he would stay by her side as her Knight.

"But, for the evening and the present I shall be your husband."

Lyn felt her heart flutter hearing his words. It's almost like he understands what she is thinking. The evening, so they will be together at night again. If he will be joining her on her travels, it only makes sense for him to be alone with her at night.

Before she could respond to that however there was a frantic knock on the door.

"Queen Lyn! Lyn are you in there?"

"Teo?" Lyn stood up and made her way over. The minute she opened the door she sees a frantic looking expression on Teo's face. "What's wrong?"

Is the dragon awakening inside him again?

"King Kazuya is-"

Huh? Kaz-

Lyn recalls Pupilliam strange behaviour and grabbed her cloak from the corner of the room. That fool, she should have told her right away. That's why Pupilliam asked her about her location.

"The signal flare."

"It seems Lan lit it. They waited but you didn't come, but sir Ralph saw it instead."

"Why did you wait this long to report it?" Lyn exclaimed.

No, that is a stupid question. Even in his weak condition, Kazuya probably gave the order not to tell her. If he said it normally they could disobey, but if he said it as an order. It's natural the Knights wouldn't be able to disobey.

Her thoughts break off when she felt Rhys drape his own cloak around her shoulders. "The nights are colder recently."

"Rhys."

"I'll help you."

The panic and fear she felt minutes ago dispelled hearing his reassuring words. Even though Kazuya is in danger, she understands her heart very well. It's Rhys, her heart has chosen him to be her only soulmate.

However, she will not abandon Kazuya. That's right, until she can guarantee that he will survive. She will not break off their marriage. This is selfish of her, but she wants to make sure Kazuya is safe first. If he isn't, she won't break it off.

Rhys probably understands this too, otherwise surely by now he would be asking when they will get married again. Just as much as Rhys cares for her, he cares for Kazuya. But in the end, the three of them cannot live happily ever after, somebody will get hurt. If that outcome is inevitable, at the very least she wants them all to survive and to ease Kazuya's pain.
